  • I'd like to start doing an ooc question/discussion thread every month since every time I've done one in the past, it got people talking with each other, which is a really great thing.

April's ooc question is about roleplaying. How do you roleplay? When and where do you write best? How do you inspire yourself for roleplay?

I always write best after 9pm (isn't it strange how people tend to be most creative at night? there's probably an explanation for that) when I'm tucked up in bed, which means lots of late nights but I love roleplay so much that I don't mind c: I almost always use my 3DS to roleplay. I get inspired by listening to instrumental music pieces because it helps me focus and forget about school and whatnot. My favourite composer is Lucas King. He's really talented and completely self-taught too. You should really check him out on YouTube. Seriously. Search for Lucas King right now.

    Ooh! Great idea! \( >w< )/
When and where do I write best...
I always roleplay best on my beloved laptop in my cozy little room, the shut-in I am. cx
How do I inspire myself for roleplay...
Well, pretty much all of my charries are based off of something (Touhou in this case), and inspiration comes from, well, Touhou. xD If I find something funny/cute/awesome about my charrie, I end up getting motivated to RP him/her. So basically, fanart/fanvideos/etc. etc. motivate/inspire me. cx I fall even more in love with them. cx (Not in a creepy way.)
    So yeah. c:
Main question: how do I roleplay...
Well, I always write down whatever comes off the top of my head (the words just flow if I know what I'm writing about). Muse is great, and I always have muse for new charries. cx Muse also comes after I get inspired. cx If there's something interesting going on and I'm museful, I can write a lot. c: How I roleplay is I usually write down whatever in response to the thread and then I reread what I wrote and make any edits necessary before going on. c: Sometimes, there's a word on my mind but I just can't identify it, so when that happens, I define the word on Google and look at the synonyms. c:
    Er... What else?
I reread too much. xD I apologize if my roleplaying sounds awkward and/or terrible lololol
I take my sweet time lol

I've always had better luck in the main clans, mostly Thunderclan and Blizzardclan, but I roleplay everywhere. Usually I base my ideas off of ones I've either seen around the site or things that pop into my head at two in the morning. For the most part I'm on in the afternoon and late at night, but I get on a lot. I'm better with one-shots because I can focus better if I can get everything into one long post and do a lot with it, especially if it's like along with lyrics. Most of my inspiration (for Angie especially) comes from books.

[fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px solid black; height: auto; width: 400px; margin-top: -10px;][justify][size=9pt]for roleplaying, i can always be found listening to music! not going to lie, i have a playlist for each character/moods for roleplaying //w\\ god i'm such a dork but oh well :^) my main inspiration for characters often comes from people I know in real life and from movies or TV shows. I too like to roleplay later at night. When I'm tired, i somehow tap into my better writing skills not sure how or why that happens but c:

  • I can best focus on my posts when I am alone in my room, by the computer listening to chill songs. It's how I can relax and focus on the task at hand as well as think on how my character would want to reply to a situation. As for how I roleplay...well when it comes to this guy I put on a imaginary wolf suit in my head and tweak my personality to match his, so in a way I am totally immersed in this character and everything I write about him, like the twitch of his whiskers, how his paws feel on the cool grass ground, is like I am feeling him through my typing fingers, the movement of his muscles, every breath he takes, I am the wolf. It's how I best write, I totally immerse myself in the character and be him in any way. Most of the times I have to take a second and close my eyes to imagine the rust colored wolf, to imagine his fur on me and how it moves in the breeze, his paws and their weight on the soil, his tail, and his troubled mind before I can begin to write and once I start it's like he is flowing through me and I can't stop him. Another crucial thing for when I write is that the window (that is right to the right of me) must be always opened, I don't know why but the cool air calms me and makes me feel like I am truly in the forest, or in the mansion, or surrounded by your characters it gives me that sense of existence like the wolf is truly there.

Um...don't know if that all made sense ???

The usual time I spend on the site starts in the morning to the early afternoon. It's when I'm alone with my thoughts and can really sink in to my imagination. Later I either have to go or my housemates come and disturb this little silent prison of mine. And the weekends are me days so I am nowhere near the internet, it's my break days! :P

My inspiration comes from the character itself. In a way, I let them be free and have a mind of their own, I don't control them I'm just their typing slave letting them express themselves through me. Most of the time my characters lead me down paths that I didn't think that I would take and they take actions that I wouldn't which is really thrilling for me cause it's like I am sitting back and watching a movie. They are like a mind of their own and I let them do whatever they want, if the amnesia wolf wanted to go and swim in a lake then I let him and make the thread. So...um...basically my characters inspire me, they are all unique with different thoughts and experiences and they have plenty of possibilities so when I put on my wolf suit I get really excited cause I know that this guy has all kind of ideas and thoughts that he wants to convey through me. Also a song can inspire me as well. When I'm in a set mood I put one song on a loop until I feel like a character wants to do something and I start writing with the song in the backround until I am finished.

The usual artists I listen to during posting are: Koda, Daughter, God is an astronaut and Two steps from Hell

    [OC]
    Hmm...
I normally role-play best after 6.a.m. in the morning. Don't ask. I just get up that early.
    As for my inspiration...
Well...since I spent four out of five years on the site outside of the main game due to not knowing how to play...I had plenty of time to develop other characters that weren't cats.
For example, Feza is inspired off of a Hoshi no Kaabii OC called Fezu.
    Which is mine.
And Fezu's original name actually was Feza. Yea.
Uh, anyways. So, my friend basically told me that I was for some reason a very descriptive role-player...but that probably comes from all the stories I'm writing at the same time.
So I'm technically always in writing mode when I post, and normally listening to Nightcore while doing it.
    Yea...that's about it.
    Not clever at all...xD
[align=center][size=8] I'm a killing machine, now I'm coming to get you
The situation is as bad as can be
Don't ask my name, cuz you know that it's me!
Now You'll Burn With The Rest Of Us!

    cool, everyone !
How do i...roleplay ? hmm, i do like it when others around me have muse, so i can do that also, but i sometimes rant about my life before i get into what is actually happening icly. When and where do i write best ? ah, i like writing in the morning when i wake up, or come home from walking my nieces and nephew to school. i like mornings because i'm not tired, and if i get on the computer past 8 o' clock i get rather out of it. How do i inspire myself for roleplay ? i get a good plot and give my character a good backstory, and that helps me to get inspired is causing horrible earth-shattering emotional pain, so terrible that the wreckage foraged will never truly rebuild the character the way that they went in.
that, ooooorrrr i do something minor. it might lead up to something huge or they go into it before they move to another group (as some of my other characters did) but yeah, i like causing pain. the tears of my characters fuels my internet ego, per say.
i can also listen to music. i like the story of prince and princess, an uraboku ost, but there are other songs that i like as well. i also really like this set here:
as you can see, the sad, emotional instrumentals really get to me when i muse. <3 also for sangatsu, all of the alice=alice soundtracks i really like to hear.

This is all fun to read... xD
    Anyway, forgot to mention...
I don't have a specific time I roleplay best, but I'm a night owl-- I'm energetic and active and stuff at night --so posts in the morning (early for me or something) probably won't be as good or something. xD
Also, I don't really listen to music. It distracts me...kinda. xD
Especially with lyrics, and idk. Even without lyrics.

  • [font=georgia]How do you roleplay?
With a cup of tea, a full battery on the laptop, safe at home, bag of crisps and surrounded by cats. I like familiar surroundings for when I roleplay.

When and where do you write best?
I write best when watching a programme relating to my character. My favourite places to roleplay are in the livingroom of my home, seated in front of the TV surrounded by my cats. I roleplay best in the mornings and late evenings.

How do you inspire yourself for roleplay?
I inspire myself through watching TV, it gets my imagination going if I'm struggling to get it going myself. I've always had a hyper imagination ever since I was a child, a good thing since I was an only child living in the countryside. I didn't have anyone to play with so I became very skilled at keeping myself entertained.
Now that I've aged I've struggled to get the brain working sometimes, a result of a serious of severe mental breakdowns over the years. But TV has helped, especially when basing my character around someone I like from a show. So for Lionstar he has The Beast from Over The Garden Wall.

  • Yup they are the masters of epic music though I also like to listen to Hans Zimmer, he wrote all epic masterpieces for movies, for Lion King, Gladiator, Time, Inception, Interstellar he is like the God of music and his music is really heavy, filled with emotions. So if you like TsFH then go listen to Hans Zimmer as well ;D

  • I write my best posts (and respond to all private threads) on my laptop, but when simple replies are needed and I'm on the go, I just use mobile. Generally I have headphones on and I'm listening to music that reflects the characters in some way. For Carcosa, it's usually Bowerbirds or something witchy-sounding. Cthulha is usually punk or metal, something upbeat, but happy- I even go for Metric sometimes. Fhtagn is subdued, usually foreign music or strange tones. Shellshock is more like Cthulha, something angry and upset. (Or Fiona Apple's 'Sleep to Dream,' which is her theme song.)
I sit alone in my family's craft room, where I do my sewing and much of my embroidery, and where I have an atmosphere of creativity. My inspiration comes from the music I listen to, and I can really get into the roles of the characters when I'm in solitude.
