Vel decided that he liked this place. He was taller, pretty darn good-looking, got some nice threads on, and there were a bunch of poor saps who didn't watch where they put their stuff. It was only his first night here and he was already causing trouble.
There it was. A pouch. He heard the clinking of metal inside there. Hopefully precious metal. Silently, he walked up to the guy very casually, hands in the pockets of his brown trousers. When he felt the guy was distracted, the otter went for it. Then Vel ran from a NPC, a coin bag in his hands. He was grinning like a madman, shoving people to the side, long purple cloak flying behind him. Whenever the person chasing him was near, he would lash his tail it their direction, making them trip and fall and give him a few moments to get ahead. It was very fun.
Eventually, he had outran the guy. Looking behind him to see if anybody was following him and seeing no one, he slowed to a jog. "Ha! Sucker!" He laughed, panting. He stopped by a tree, leaning on it and crouching down to catch his breath. As soon as he recovered, he stood up straight to see what he got. It was a pouch made of rough cloth, the opening tied together with rope. It took him a few moments to figure out how to open it- hey, cut him some slack, he just got turned into a half-otter, half-human monstrosity (a devilishly handsome monstrocity). Opening the bag, he found five golden coins. His golden eyes turned metaphorically into dollar signs. "Sweet! Shiny stuff," he said.
