    LET THE RPING BEGIN!

IC: A storm seemed to howl and rage against an abandoned house setting off a terrible creaking noise. Deep inside the rickety old house a small whimpering noise could be heard. In one of the old rooms a girl sat in a corner her knees pulled up to her chest and her hands over her ears.

Tears ran down her face as she let out another whimper. Then the room was suddenly brightened by lightning and a following booming sound made the girl yelp and cry harder. She was horribly terrified of the thunder. A small dripping noise could be heard.

The 10 year-old girl had unfortunately gotten caught in the storm. She'd hidden in here for shelter, she shivered in the corner of the room still damp and wet from being drenched in the rain. Her golden brown and white tipped wings were drawn close into her back dripping with water.

  • Hope had been flying throughout most of the storm, her whitish gold wings felt like led and she knew she couldn't keep it up for much longer. Suddenly she spotted a small rickety house in the dark forest below her, perfect! It seemed abandoned and she struggled against the wind to land, pulling her wings in painfully. She gasped as she fell face-first into the mud, her shoulders and wings felt as if another Eraser was pulling them off, she remembered the awful pain as the head Eraser threatened to rip her wings off of her body. And it was exactly what she felt now. She leaned heavily against the door frame as she stumbled into the house, letting her eyes adjust to the darkness for a minute.

  • The little girl blinked open her large brown eyes as she heard a noise. She looked around quickly still shivering. She opened her mouth to call out, "H-Hello?" She waited for a response quietly, but she saw another flash of lightning. When she heard the boom of thunder she yelped loudly and shut her eyes tightly again. She started to cry again.

  • Hope looked up, startled at a voice. In the flash of lightning that followed she saw the tear stained face of a young girl. She started to back away, that is until the girl started to cry again. After thinking for a moment Hope decided that she needed to rest, and the girl didn't look that dangerous. Cautiously she started to walk towards the girl "Are you ok?" She asked slowly.

  • The girl didn't open her eyes again as she shivered. She thought she could faintly hear footsteps. She shook her head as she heard a voice ask if she was okay. She suddenly spread her wings and curled them around her body. It seemed to be the only way she knew to protect herself.

  • "I'm not going to hurt you, see? I'm one of you." She spread her wings wide, wincing slightly as she saw the wound on her right wing had opened up again, and was bleeding fiercely.

  • The girl opened her eyes again as she stared at the other avian. Her eyes were wide as she saw the wound on her wing. The girl folded her wings against her back again. "Are you alright?" she asked timidly jumping again as she heard the thunder.

  • Hope nodded, gritting her teeth as she tried to fold her wing again "Eraser attacked me couple miles out of the city, I flew off but he shot my wing clean through." She explained.

  • She watched as the girl folded in her wings again. "Are you sure you're okay?" she asked as she told her what happened to her wing.

  • "Well its not like I can wrap it, so its as ok as it will get. It didn't go through any bones so nothing broken." Hope said as she slipped her heavy coat back on over her golden wings. "So why are you out here all by yourself?" She asked as she sat down next to the girl.

  • The girl watched as she put on a coat over her wings. When she asked her why she was alone she looked down at the floor. ''I've always been alone...'' She suddenly sneezed loudly.

  • "Bless you." Hope said before thinking for a moment "How did you escape? From the school I mean." She remembered trying to escape when she was alone, no hope at all. But she always had been full of it so that was why her brother had thought of her name, hope.

  • "Thank you..." She replied. "I, um..." she tried to come up with a good excuse. She would probably think she was creepy if she told her how she really got out. "I picked the lock on my cage and got out through the vents..." She lied hoping she sounded convincing.

  • Somehow she didn't believe it but she shrugged, as if she did. "My brother helped me out, then they killed him and captured me again." She said with a blank face wincing as her bad wing was shifted. Hope stretched out her good wing and slowly covered herself with it trapping in some body heat. Her golden-brown feathers skimmed her arm as she leaned painfully against the wall. "Do me a favor and don't ever get shot in the wing." She managed to laugh out.

  • The girl nodded. "I'm sorry..." She said quietly as she spread her wings a bit again. She absentmindedly fiddled with the feathers along her wing. She laughed quietly. "Okay," she said and then yelped in fear again as she heard another boom of thunder. She shut her eyes again.

  • "Scared of the thunder?" Hope asked "I used to be too, then my brother pointed out that you can't have lightning without thunder, just like you can't have thunder without lightning. It shows that for once in my life two completely opposite things work together in nature, giving us hope that maybe one day avians may be able to live with humans in harmony." She said wistfully.

  • The girl nodded when she asked her if she was scared of the thunder. She opened her eyes again to look at the girl. "Yeah..." She said as she listened to the other girl. She laid her head down on her knees.

  • With a small flex of her wing Hope awkwardly wrapped her wing slightly around the girl, trying to comfort her. "My brother was an Eraser, one of their best ones actually." She admits, thinking of the secret she has kept her entire lifetime.

  • The girl felt another wing wrapping around her. "Really?" She asked quietly. She listened to the rain as she waited for her response.

  • "Really." Hope said slowly, with a grim smile. "They thought him a prodigy, always the strongest, fastest, and most cunning." She paused "But really it was all an act until he could finally come up with a plan to save me. His little sister." She smiled at the memories, the love between them.
