Together they had many children, gifted with the power to change their physical forms from humans to bears at will. These children found love themselves, some with humans, others with the life of the forest. All gifted. After several generations, there was at least one person who could change themselves into every species found on Uru. These people called themselves the gifted. For many thousands of years the gifted lived all over the island in clans, mostly segregated by their second forms. But, nearly one thousand years ago, a wolf gifted and a finch gifted from rival clans found love in each other. Together they bridged the gap between their clans, creating a larger and greater clan than had ever been seen before. Most of the other clans saw this, and began to follow this mighty clan. Slowly but surely, the wolf and the finch united all but seven of Uru's clans, creating a kingdom which they led as king and queen. The seven remaining clans became rebel bands, unwilling to join the kingdom or mix gifts. Over the next millennium, the new kingdom prospered and thrived, protected from outsiders by the magic of Uru.

Many trading ships had passed quite near before then, but the magic of Uru kept the island hidden from human eyes. There came a time, though, that not even the most ravenous of storms or thickest of fogs would deter these men. A ship, headed by the explorer John Sutton, landed on the eastern shore. At first they assumed the island uninhabited by naught but birds and beasts.
    That is until a scout sent west along the shore brought back other news. Towering spires and castles grand enough to rival that of the Queens! Intelligent and civilized people that seemed to make up a very wealthy kingdom. Sutton soon found himself meeting with Aran and Tari, King and Queen of the gifted. All was friendly until a servant in his second form flew in from a skylight in the high vaulted ceiling of the castle, shifting right before the eyes of the humans. The British men cursed the gifted, believing them devil spawn, and swore against them to cleanse the land of such an evil. Fast as they could, the men departed.
    Fearing war, the King and Queen called for the first time for their people to come to arms and defend their nation. Weapons were forged anew, armor for all able to fight, and all in Uru found themselves battle ready within three months.
    To be safe, an elite force was assembled ((that's us)). Handpicked from the existing army, the greatest of the warriors were brought together under the command of the captain of the guard. It is their mission to turn the tide of important battles. It is their mission, essentially, to win the war.

    Think medieval for this thread, no guns, planes, cellphones, jeans, nothing like that. For weapons think axes, swords, knifes, spears, etc. For clothes think leather and wool, buckles not zippers, stuff like you'd see in Game of Thrones.
    For the second forms of your characters, the animals they can change into, I'm going to say non-mythical animals this time. No dragons (as much as it pains me), griffins, centaurs, stuff like that. Yeah, no. Wolves, bears, birds, horses even, as long as it can be found in the world today.

    { PERSONALITY } Ebony is a bit hard to understand. She is a bit of a loner and prefers to be alone when possible. She doesn't make it exactly clear why this is and she doesn't share anything with anyone else on what is going on in her head. For the most part she generally keeps to herself and she doesn't try to hide that she doesn't like being around others. She'll stand off to the side from a group, seek a corner of the room, or leave the room altogether. And she does it in silence. To hear a word from her mouth is a rare thing indeed. She doesn't speak unless she has too and when she does speak its in a low, stern, but strong voice. Unless she has to, her voice never goes above that, so if you don't hear her, then too bad. Not that most people have a problem hearing her. She speaks low but knows how to pitch that voice to carry. On the outside Ebony is the image of a person that purposely pushes others away, though her motive for this is unknown to everyone around her. The idea of being apart of a "pack" give Ebony hives. Though because she has to be apart of the pack to be a soldier, she has thrown up all her guards and isn't letting them budge. So for the most part her personality is as concealed as her past. But there are a few traits one can pick up on when around her.
    Strong Willed and Prideful
    Ebony is the type of person that is bound and determined to do as she pleases when she pleases. Her determination of will is so strong, its frightening. At the moment all she wants is to keep others away and to be a good soldier. To most her strong will comes off as just her being prideful and in a way that is true, for neither will let her completely bow to another. This pride also does not allow her to accept a helping hand. Give her one and she's likely to hate you to the end of time. She refuses to be considered the weak link.


    Considerate
    Despite her strong will and pride, Ebony is considerate of others...or tries to be. She does think her actions through before she does them and she takes into consideration how her actions will effect others around her. Though what she does, isn't always good for others, at least she's considerate. If she does let a person close to her, she is completely considerate of them and will take injury if it is in the best interest of the other's well being.


    Insightful
    Ebony is a very insightful person. She is good at reading others through their body language and facial expressions. This allows her to act accordingly to a situation before it can blow up. This comes from years of watching others from the shadows and actually makes her very good at defusing certain situations among her fellow soldiers. Though she may be socially awkward because of it, it allows her to carefully and calmly think through problems and work around the people involved.


    Loyal
    Though she isn't one to show much interest in relationship to others, she is, without a doubt, loyal to her comrades and those she serves. Her loyalty, along with her will, is one of the few things about her that will not budge for anything. Once her loyalty is given she will go to the ends of the earth and suffer all kinds of torment for the person. Once her loyalty is given it is incredibly hard to lose and once lost, is nearly impossible to gain back. If she gives you her loyalty, don't betray it. She will turn on you.


    Sarcastic
    Though she doesn't speak much, some of what she does say comes out as nothing but sarcastic remarkes. Sometimes she just can't help herself and just has to smart off. A complusive reaction. Most of the time she doesn't even realize she has smarted off and just carries on like she hasn't just insulted someone. She doesn't mean to insult people when she does this. If she means to insult you, you'll know.


    Honest
    Ebony is, without a doubt, flat out, honest. She can't stand liars and can't stand to lie herself. If she doesn't want to tell the truth, she simply just doesn't answer the question. This actually happens a lot, especially when her feelings and past are the things brought into question. She will, however, give her logical opinion on anything, and most of the time...it's not nice.


    Ebony is very calm most of the time and these aforementioned traits are all most can get from the girl, but under it all Ebony is just like anyone else. She hurts, she feels, she hates. Deep down Ebony harbors a deep fear of herself and what she can do if she loses control, not realizing that she most likely will not lose control again. She feels that if she is close to others, it puts them in danger. She won't admit to others that she is scared of herself and doesn't trust herself around others, no matter who they are. She has sworn to herself that she will never let herself open up to another and this is a form of punishment for her past. Something she will never share with anyone. In truth she is just another scared, caring young woman who is more worried about those around her then herself.
    { HISTORY } Ebony was born and raised in a family of five with her parents, and younger brother and sister. She was born in a small village among some hill country on the outskirts of the kingdom and lived there her whole life. It was pretty much a normal life and despite the location of their village, they saw little to no rebels. Ebony loved her siblings and parents to death and thought of herself as a pretty good big sister. Ebony was probably the closest to her little sister and was always happy to play with the younger girl if she asked. Despite this, Ebony struggled with a lot of things that she didn't understand. She had always struggled with herself the most, wondering what she was to do with her life and where her life would take her.
    At the age of fourteen, rebels came into the village demanding all the food and supplies the villagers had. All of the women and children were told to hide and Ebony's mother took her and her siblings to hide. When the men refused to hand over what the village had, the rebels attacked. Ebony, a fighter from a young age, left her mother and siblings to help her father. Before she could reach him, he was killed before her eyes. Ebony snapped upon seeing the death of her father.
    She found out later, when she was in control again, that she had killed many of the rebels when they turned on her and her family, killing her mother and little brother. Ebony blames herself for not being strong enough to control herself and protect her family, and fears herself more then anything in the world. No one, save for her little sister, Kaymee, knows what happened.
    After that Ebony gathered her sister, and hand full of villagers left and moved closer to the capital. Most of those left were older couples, though there were a few orphaned children around Kaymee's age. The older couples took the children in while Ebony took over as guardian of her sister. They tried to help Ebony but the girl wouldn't except it and Ebony preformed odd jobs to make money for food, until she was sixteen. She then moved Kaymee closer to the castle grounds and enlisted in the guard. She makes enough to feed herself and Kaymee and to give her sister the life she deserves. And that's good enough for her.    [/fancypost]

    { PERSONALITY } Jane is highly self-confident girl, who knows what she wants and how to get it. She is a bit egoistic and firstly thinks about herself than others, but usually she's pretty nice, apart of being annoyingly impatient. Jane also loves to flirt and is good actress, that makes her a bit manipulative, but it comes hard to her to keep her thoughts to herself. Girl is very stubborn and isn't afraid to pick up fights about anything she disagrees about. Jane likes to argue and prove her point, so she won't back down easily. She's also very aggressive, easily becomes angry, bored or distracted and holds grudge for long.
    { HISTORY } Nothing much to say. Jane was born and grew up in some village as the only child in family, that was slightly rich, so the girl was a bit spoiled. Since the very childhood Jane wanted to be a soldier, just like her father, because it seemed exiting for her besides she thought she had all the needed skills. Father then trained her and thought her everything he could and later helped her to become one of the guards. Here Jane realized, that everything was actually more harder than she had thought, but she decided not to give up and stayed.[/fancypost]

    Arvid is very peculiar, indeed. She is known for being unreasonably quiet and a bit mysterious. She can be very strange in the things she says and does, and is often found trying to find answers to the world's mysteries. She tends to be a little.. creepy, you could say. She usually is in a dark corner somewhere, observing from a distance and listening to others.


    intelligent --
    she can figure out the toughest riddles, crack advanced codes and even figure out the next plot twist in a movie. her knowledge is mostly based from things she learned from her parents, especially survival skills from her father.


    artistic --
    she's always painting, drawing or sculptin'. it's one of the only ways she can actually communicate her feelings. she uses this when documenting certain injuries, ingredients and so on.


    courageous --
    she believes courage is not being fearless, but being able to face your fears. she's easily able to overcome barriers, but can get a bit skittish and anxious along the way.


    quiet --
    it's like her vocal chords are broken guitar strings. she doesn't really talk much until she absolutely needs to. she'll probably answer you, though. it just takes a lot to get her to make the first move in a conversation. but, bear in mind that once she starts talking.. she won't stop.

    stubborn --
    simple. as. that.


    observant --
    she can tell by the calluses on your fingers that you use a certain sword. she can tell that you were cooking lamb just by the scent on your shirt. safe to say, she takes a lot of time to recognize little unique details in people.

    { HISTORY }
    Arvid comes from a very long line of those involved in witchcraft and healing, thus influencing her in becoming a doctor.
    Arvid was born to a witch doctor father and a warrioress of a mother. Both parents were trying to get Arvid to follow in their footsteps. Her mother tried her best to train her to become an ahtletic, strong warrior while her father trained her in the field of medicine and witchcraft. Growing up with six older brothers and around males, most expected her to become a warrior like her mother. She showed signs of her strength in power; she would often spar with her brothers and challenge the others boys. But soon, she turned to be an apprentice of her father's and soon became more interested in doctoring. This disappointed a majority of her family.
    Arvid grew to be a very adventurous, intelligent and observant girl. She took interest in the mysteries of nature and tried her best to try and explain them. She would usually find injured animals and try and heal them. After so much training and practicing, she became a skilled doctor.
    She carried her knowledge of fighting but made sure to keep her knowledge of healing fresh.
    When she was barely 14, her mother and father disappeared mysteriously. No one knew if they had abandoned Arvid and her family or if they were kidnapped, murdered.. it still remains an unsolved mystery.
    Soon, Arvid's brothers left one by one. Some found wives and raised families, some were killed in battle, some just went to other places.. Arvid began to feel lonely.

    { HEIGHT } Arvid is considerably short. She is only 5'2.
    { WEIGHT } She weighs about 115. It is okay, of course, due to her small stature.
    { HAIR COLOR } Often considered black, it is indeed a very deep brown. So, brown.
    { HAIR LENGTH } Arvid's hair reaches just to her waist; she usually keeps it braided, however.
    { EYE COLOR } Much like her hair, Arvid has very dark brown eyes.
    { BODY FRAME } Arvid is a very small, frail looking girl. Being in her early twenties, she is often put down for her irregularly small size. She stands at a very short stature of 5'2, and weighs only 100 pounds. She has little to know muscular build other than some small toning around her shoulders and calves. she has very prominent hip/pelvis and slightly visible ribs; she doesn't eat as much as she should, but is usually inside caring for the sick or injured.
    { BODY MODIFICATIONS } she has several ear piercings and a septum ring.


    { PHOBIAS }
    ↳ Aeronausiphobia: fear of vomiting or airsickness.
    ↳ Philemaphobia: fear of kissing.
    ↳ Apeirophobia: fear of infinity.
    ↳ Athazagoraphobia: Fear of being forgotten or left behind.

    { BAD HABITS } Arvid has.. several habits that she is truly ashamed of.
    ↳ Arvid has the habit of biting her nails. She'll violently and rapidly chew up her nails to stubs, even leaving her fingers bleeding on occasion.
    ↳ Also, when nervous, she bites the inside of her cheek if it means hiding her true emotions. The whole inside of her cheek is torn up due to unnecessary amounts of chewing and biting.
    ↳ She's a little bit of a perfectionist; if things aren't in their place or going correctly, she will try her best to correct it. If someone does not place something of her's in the correct place (sometimes even facing a certain way), she will most likely call them out on it and rush over to fix it.
    ↳ She has a tendency of not sharing her thoughts or ideas, even when they may benefit others. She feels it may be unnecessary or even stupid; she also fears being made fun of her feelings, thoughts or ideas.
    { DISORDERS OR ILLNESSES } Some depression. She is a little OCD-ish, as mentioned above.


    { SEXUALITY } she is straight. She has always leaned towards males and will probably keep it that way.
