Victorian Era

    | Victoria Buckingham |

Princess Victoria Buckingham was a well respected figure among the disciples of Buckingham Palace, as well as the residents of England. She was a quiet and noble person, very antisocial, and was hardly approachable, otherwise blunt when dire. When the Governors daughter comes to visit to attend the Summer Ball, Victoria's life changes greatly as she learns a bit more about herself than expected, as this dominant and bossy character is the new addition to her dull and quiet life.

  • CordeliaPowlett
Firstly, Cordelia isn't what you'd exactly call a 'role model' of what a perfect noble should be. Even though she has a strong understanding of how to behave around the public, and has compelling hosting skills along with mannerisms and etiquette. She just simply doesn't have that aura of serene calmness about her. For one, she is rather outspoken, she hardly ever waits for the appropriate times to say her opinion, and can be extremely, if anything, distastefully blunt. She is demanding and knows what she wants, stopping at nothing to get it. In a way she goes against the statement that Ladies should be weak infront of their Lords, for she doesn't care much for what they think of her, and in no way would like to have someone think of her as weak. She can be bossy, and at times overbearing, causing much tension and conflict at times. It may be hard to get close to her, but once her affection has been gained, she's extremely loving, protective and loyal. Though she may come off as a tad clingy.

    //Soooo rushed. I'm sorry!

  • Its alright! That bio was great.

Victoria held a book before her, carrying it in her left arm like the precious possession it was, her long hair that was held in pigtails bouncing behind her. The palace was large, though quiet. Soon enough, she knew guests would arrive to attend the ball that happened to go on the next day, and the quietness of Buckingham Palace would soon fade. Her footsteps echoed as she walked down a flight of stairs, the sound filling the air.
A young woman waited patiently at the end of the stairs to greet her, one of the maids. "Goodmorning Your Highness." She spoke, curtseying before her. Victoria stated in silence for a moment until she reached the bottom of the stairs. "Can I get you some tea?" She added. "That would be wonderful. Earl grey, please." Victoria responded, before walking towards the backdoor that led to a large garden.

  • Oh my. Thank you, >///<

"Cordelia, sit up straight!" The sharp voice of the Lady Powlett pierced the dead silence that was lingering in the carriage. The young female gave a sigh, but did as told and straightened her spine against the hard seat. "I apologize, Mother." She sighed, though her voice held not a single hint of regret. She had long stopped calling her mother, 'Mama' in fact, she tried to avoid talking to the woman at all. It seemed all she could do was castigate her as of late. Cordelia looked out the window, eyes focusing on the passing landscape in mild interest, though once in awhile she'd glance back towards her parents who were sitting side by side in the seat opposed to her. Her mother's blonde hair and lady like features contrasting handsomely against her fathers chocolate brown hair, and intense look. "When will we arrive at the palace?" She huffed, feeling her eyes droop. They'd been traveling for near four hours and she was beginning to grow restless. "Soon." Her father replied, a tad more kindly than her mother would've opted to. The brunette gave a small nod of understanding before once again returning her gaze towards the outside.

"Time to wake, Cordelia. We've arrived." A voice rung through the darkness. Cordelia blinked. What...? Lazily, she blinked, only to have a sudden burst of light shine into her eyes. She gave a small yawn, and pushed herself into a straighter position. Somehow she had fallen asleep against the side of the carriage. But she felt more refreshed and in a better mood because of the fact, she send an appreciative glance over to her parents, who both, in turn, gave soft smiles. Not two seconds later, the door opened and the coachmen held his hand out. "Lady Cordelia, if you will..." "Of course, thank you, Charles." She gave a chirp laugh, and in one hand took the elderly man's for balance, and the other hand reached to pull up her skirt as she stepped down. As soon as her foot hit the ground, she noticed the grandeur and opulence of the building. "Oh... My..." She breathed.

  • ugh the site refreshed so I had to retype everything.

Victoria walked down a long corridor, the walls lined with frames of Buckingham family and ancestors that once ruled and lived in the palace, as well as small pillars that beautifully showed off vases of gorgeous flowers, and small lanterns not yet lit, which as well occupied the lovely walls every five feet. She approached two small wooden doors with golden handles and small windows which sunlight gleamed warmly from, that led to the garden. She exited the castle to find a serene grassy area with lovely trimmed hedges and patches of roses and forget-me-nots, complete with a stone fountain that centered it all. She searched for we mother, whom sat on a white bench and stared off into what seemed like nowhere. She approached her, taking a seat next to her, careful not to wrinkle her Lacey pink dress. "Mother, the guests should arrive soon. I would hope you'd follow me to the entrance room to greet them, it's only polite." She spoke, crossing her legs.
"Victoria, love. Many guests have already arrived since yesterday. Do you suppose I could stay here?" Her mother questioned, folding her hands. Victoria took surprise to her mother's question, as she wouldn't expect her to ask her for permission. Victoria'sother was once a beautiful lively young woman, but suffered from a tumor in her brain that grew slowly, leaving her often unattached from the world and quite depressed. It pained Victorian to see her mother in such a state, though her pity wouldn't heal her. "Please." She spoke, standing up and offering a hand. There was a long pause of silence between the two before her mother took her hand and stood up, walking with her back to the entrance room.

With good timing, the two arrived quick enough for the maid to arrive with a tray of a tea kettle and a few cups, along with a place of sugar cubes. The maid curtseyed to greet Queen Anastatia. She offered the tea, but was turned down. "I believe I can hear a carriage outside." Victoria spoke, and waited patiently for them to knock.

  • Arg, I hate it when that happens DX

"Now, remember, you're a lady, not the daughter of merchant, or anything of the sorts. Your father is governor and you expected to act respectively, and represent our family, remember that." Lady Powlett quickly reminded, as she got out of the carriage, followed en suit by the Lord. "Yes, yes. Mother please stop reminding me." Cordelia forced her voice to sound soft and understanding, when really she was itching to enter the place. Her mother frowned doubtfully, she knew her daughter, and those words were mostly likely nothing but lies. The young girl let herself become too caught up in the moment. Speaking of which, she had already grabbed onto her skirt, lifted it up, and began making her way up the stairs. She waited by the door for her parents to follow, admiring the framework, lost in her own world.

Around ten seconds later, her parents found themselves standing behind her. Cordelia turned around with bright eyes, "May I knock? Please?" She clasped her hands together and gave a pleading smile, her father gave a small nod. "Go ahead, Cordelia." She gave a small giggle, while her mother rolled her eyes. The girl found simple pleasure in such pointless things. Reaching up on her toes, she took the knocker into her hand and hit it against the door three repetitive times.

  • The sound of a door opening was audible as her father rushed out from the second floor, and quickly rushed down the stairs, greeting the two women. "Is the Govenor here yet?" He asked. "I don't know." Queen Anastatia replied. Victoria jumped at the sound of the door knocking, and her father was prompt to open it. He greeted the guests, a look of joy on his face as Victoria and her mother stood almost emotionless.

[s]sorry this is so short I'm having writers block idk

  • Don't worry about it! I totally understand.

Cordelia kept a sweet smile planted on as her father heartily greeted the King, smiling widely. Her mother stood in her usual proper posture, a serene look added to her already perfect aura. As they shared a few words, Cordelia couldn't help but let her gaze wander. What met her eyes delighted her, she gave a small jump and weaved her way out from her parents reach, to make her way over to the other girl. "Who might you be? Wait, let me guess, the Princess, am I correct?" She didn't sound the least embarrassed or shy, even formal. Just excited at the meeting of the new acquaintance. She ignored the feeling of her mother's gaze burning into her back.

  • Victoria watched her father as he spoke inaudibly, before her gaze was changed to a young woman, presumably the governor's daughter. She quietly nodded at her question. "Pleased to meet you." She responded, curtseying respectively. "Victoria, why don't you show this young lady to her room?" Her mother asked, looking at Cordelia with a sweet smile. "You don't want me to greet the governor?" Victoria asked, slightly confused. "You may afterwards." Victoria nodded.

"It's wonderful to meet you two, we look forward to your stay." Her father, King Alexander, spoke, holding the door open for the two to enter.

  • "Thank you for having us, your highness." Her father, William, replied with a clear tone as he and his wife entered gratefully, those where the last words Cordelia bothered to hear from her parents before she turned to Victoria with an excited smile. "My Lady, Victoria. Will you take me to my room? Or perhaps show me around, I must admit, this place is terribly large, I'm afraid I shall get lost if I venture out on my own." She gave a small giggle as if she found that funny, before her expression grew a bit more demanding.

I guess this is about close to my description??? idk

Victoria nodded, forcing a smile, before beckoning Cordelia to follow her up a short flight of stairs that looked down upon the staircase to the ballroom, which was their last floor. The staircase lead up to a landing, leading to three doorways that all lead into the same place, the grand hallway. Like described, it was decorated with frames and vases and pillars. "Cordelia is a lovely name." She spoke, glancing back at the girl behind her.

[b]Victoria's father stepped out of the way. "Would you like some tea?" Her mother questioned.

    //

    I think I'm going to make Victoria around 19? Or 20 I don't know.

  • Alright :3, would you prefer Cordelia to be the elder, or younger?

That comment made the girl grin from ear to ear and give a small laugh. "My thank you, your highness. But if I may say, I find Victoria much lovelier, alluring even." As she spoke, she gave a cheeky smirk, before turning her attention to the simple craftsmanship of the entire place around her, it was truly awe worthy and amazing. She quite liked this place.

"Tea would be lovely, thank you for your hospitality, our journey has been rather tiring." Lady Powlett said quickly, voice full of gratefulness.

  • Victoria's cheeks turned a light pink. "Thank you." She spoke. They approached a set of wooden doors, leading to a guest room. "We have many other guests that have arrived, most of them from the British Monarchy, as well as the friends of my parents, so many of the rooms are occupied, in other words, I'd hope you wouldn't get too noisy." Victoria said. "If you'd like, I'll keep you company." Victory opened up the door, holding it for Cordelia.

[b]"It's no issue of mine." Queen Anastatia replied, before questioning the maid who stood by the door with the tray to pour some tea.

  • "Ah, yes, I'd quite like that. Please do, I'd like to get to know you better." Cordelia replied, giving a content smile as she entered the room, looking first at Victoria, letting her gaze linger on the other girl, before turning her attention to the rest of the room. This was certainly a fancy guest room, she gave a small grin before walking further into the area.

  • Victoria nodded, and sat down on the bed, crossing her legs and smoothing out her dress. "Do you like to read?" She asked, looking up Cordelia.

ooc: did I ever answer your question about Cordelia's age?

  • OOC: I totally forgot about that XD But I don't believe so

Cordelia put a small ornament she had picked up and been fiddling with down and glanced over to Victoria. ."Hmm? Depends on the book." She replied, "It can't be boring, I do enjoy entrancing literature though. You look like quite the bookworm, I suppose you quite like reading?"

  • ooc: fml lmao I suppose Cordelia could be older? I might strike conversation idk

Victoria nodded. "Yes, indeed." She said, running her thumb across the leathery casing of the book she held. "I myself enjoy books in the mystery genre." She spoke, her British accent heavily woven into her soft lacey voice.

  • OOC: Alright, I'll make her 21 XD

"Heh, interesting." Cordelia said, giving a smallnod and falling silent thoughtfully before walking over to plop herself down next to Victoria on the bed, smoothing any creases in the fabric of her dress. "So," she started, leaning over to press herself against the girl lazily. "What's it like being a princess?'
