  • Olivander hooked his bow onto the stand, then quickly trotted over to retrieve his arrows. Packed in a tight bunch, but nowhere near to the bulls-eye. He sighed, then pulled them out and went back to the line.

  • She gets halfway through her next clip when she spots something out of the corner of her eye. She stops and points her gun down in one hand, displacing her noise cancelling headphones from over her ears as she turns to look around. A smile then breaks out onto her face when she sees one of the younger police probies, "Hey," she greets with a smile, "I thought that you might have figured out that you shouldn't sneak up on me when I have a gun," she says jokingly.

  • A couple other people came over to the range, nodding formally at Olivander as they went to start their own practices. He knew a couple of them, but hadn't ever really talked with anybody. He fitted another arrow onto the string, adjusting his bow slightly, trying to get better aim than last time. The arrow flew into the air, arcing across the sky before coming down to land somewhere in the grass. Great. Now he had to go look for an arrow that he might very well not find.

  • The "probie" grins, "Hey, I wouldn't mind getting shot by you," he says with a playful smile. Virginia rolls her eyes, "Josh, I don't shoot to hurt. I shoot to kill." She points out to him. Josh simply shrugs,
"That would be a happy death for me." He says with a knowing laugh. Virginia sighs and shakes her head at him.

  • Olivander glanced across the area, only faintly able to see Virginia. He had been thinking of asking her if she could come help him look for the arrow, but if she was chatting with someone else he really didn't want to intrude. Oh well.... He trotted off, using another arrow somewhat like a cane to see if it would strike the lost one, swishing it from side-to-side through the grass.

  • Virginia had glances over towards the archery fields and furrowed her brow slightly when she sees Olivander all hunched over looking for something. She purses her lips, returning her attention back to Josh. They chat for a few more minutes before she cuts off the conversation right before he has the chance to ask her out. She quickly disappears into the building, into the indoor range.

  • He didn't even notice Virginia heading into the indoor range, so intent was he upon finding the arrow. The really good ones weren't cheap; although they didn't cost much more than the mediocre ones, every arrow bent or got lost or became otherwise unusable eventually. Needless to say, Olivander didn't like the idea of having to spend his little extra money. So he continued on, wishing he had a metal detector. That would save a heck of a lot of time; but somehow he'd never managed to save up enough without spending it on something else.

  • Josh allows her to leave his company without complaining, though he does watch her as she leaves. Virginia shudders once she is in the building. She flicks on the lights and puts her earplugs back in and puts her headphones back on also.

  • At last Olivander's foot steps on something round, and very much like an arrow. He bent down, quickly digging through the dirt and pulling it out. Ah, it wasn't his arrow--but it looked to be in fine shape, despite the indeterminate length of time spent out in nature. Besides, it was the right length for him and everything.... Olivander suspected that, if he would bring along a metal detector from somewhere, he would find several dozen arrows stuck just deep enough to not be seen easily. This had happened numerous times before, and if it would work, why not take it?

  • It isn't long before Virginia gets done in the indoor range and she slips silently out of the building. She walks down the hill to the archery range, standing back a ways behind Olivander, watching him patiently.

  • He jogged back to the line, then caught sight of Virginia and headed towards her instead. "You done already?" he asked, only half-teasing. How much time had he wasted looking for that stupid arrow, not even getting in five rounds of practice? Well, at least he'd found a replacement.

  • Virginia shrugs, "If you get hungry, we can grab a bite to eat if you want." She tells him, walking towards her truck and she lowers the tailgate, jumping up and sitting on it, clearly pretty relaxed.

  • Virginia thinks for a moment, "There is a place downtown that's kind of a hole-in-the-wall, but they have the best Panini's ever, even better than the ones up north." She suggests to Olivander, "But its totally up to you."
