  • //Alright, though it'll have to wait until I can get on my laptop.

    Olivander nods, lifting his case into the back carefully and then getting in himself. "Yeah... wouldn't it be cool if we had a tie? It would be really, really weird, yeah, but... cool."

  • OOC: Okay :)

    Virginia lifts herself up into the drivers seat, starting the truck and hooking her seatbelt, "Yeah. That would be strange." She agrees. She checks her mirrors and backs out, heading back into the direction of the range.

  • Virginia returns her gaze to the road, checking her mirrors as she keeps an eye on the dissipating traffic. She closer she gets to the range, the less traffic there is out on the roads, always putting her a little at ease.

  • As they neared the range, Olivander sat back up, grinning as it came into view. This definitely was one of his favorite places... where he could do nothing except focus on his bow and his target, not having to worry about life and homework and school. If he could get more reliable, better, transportation than a bus, he was sure he'd come out here every day.

    //read the poem yet? :)

  • OOC: Yeah, I read it when you sent it to me. I liked it :)

    Virginia turns up to the gate and slides her card. The gates slowly open and she drives through them, finding a parking place between the archery range and the shooting range. She parks the truck and looks over at him, "We have never talked about what distance we are doing." She says quietly.

  • "Ah, distance..." Olivander ran a hand through his hair, thoroughly messing it up but seeming not to notice or care. "How far back do you usually go?" He was somewhat okay at a distance of thirty-forty yards, much worse at fifty, much better at twenty, twenty-five or so. Having never actually used a gun before, he wasn't sure how far back a shooter could go without doing pretty poorly with aim, even if the shooter was experienced and skilled.

  • Virginia thinks for a moment, "I usually do about 50 yards with my handgun, farther with my long guns, but seeing how you're using a bow and arrow, I think that 40 yards should suffice," She says, looking at him.

  • "Alright, forty yards works for me." He paused, then opened the door and hopped out, retrieving his stuff from the back as well. Oh, it would be quite interesting to see how a gun compared to a bow... he thought so, anyway. "Er, thanks for the ride."

  • Virginia smiles and opens her own drivers side door, stepping out. She closes her door and opens the one to the back seat, "You're welcome. Let me know when you're done and I can take you back," She tells him seriously, looking at him from across the truck bed.

  • "Ah... I could probably get a bus back, just in case you're not ready to leave yet or whatever.... I don't mean to inconvenience you." Olivander smiled, raising one hand to ruffle his hair once again--pretty much a sure sign of when he was nervous.

  • Virginia shakes her head, "It's really no trouble at all. I actually enjoyed having someone to ride with, since I am usually either alone or with a bunch of police probies." She says with a quiet laugh, shaking her head slightly as she picks up her cases and her earplugs.

  • "Ah, okay...." Olivander didn't quite know what 'police probies' were, seeing as he kept himself so isolated that most of the slang others his age used was completely foreign to him. Whatever they were, though, they didn't exactly sound all that great. "Might as well go off now..." He lifted up the case, but still didn't move away.

  • "Well, come and get me when you're finished. I'm just going to use the rest of my clips and ammo. I don't have a whole lot left." Virginia tells him with a kind and bright smile. She pushes her safety glasses onto her face before she turns slowly, something in her mind, call it intuition, begs her to stop, but her feet continue to move to the outdoor range.

  • "'Kay!" he called out, moving in the opposite direction. He quickly pulled out his bow, somehow managing to hold it and still set up the small folding stand. The bow was hung on the stand, a leather quiver clipped to his belt loops and a few arrows stuffed inside. Olivander paused, glancing across to where Virginia was standing, then shook his head and finished getting set up.

  • Virginia walks up to the top of the hill and disappears behind a building. She puts in her ear plugs and puts her sound mufflers on over her head. She then loads up her handgun and hits the button to start up the targets. She enters her stance and starts, the rounds leaving almost immediately.

  • Olivander picked up his bow, then trotted over to the forty-yard line and fitted an arrow onto the string. He raised the bow, chose a spot for aiming, then pulled back and released. At this distance it was somewhat more important to get your arrows grouped tightly together than to get bulls-eyes, since once you had your aim correct it was simple enough to move it around a bit. He quickly shot the rest of his arrows, releasing each with practiced ease.
