OOC: Yes Moonpaw still needs a mentor please.
IC: Moonpaw and Sunpaw woke up and stretched -
Alright. Squirrelheart can be his mentor.
Squirrelheart padded out of the Warrior's den after a sleepless night. She blinked tiredly, but kept herself held perfectly emotionless- Showing emotion was weakness.
Sadly, she had been assigned an apprentice. 'Teaching will help you,' Their leader had said. She had rolled her eyes and carried on with the ceremony. Surely she had hurt the young cat's feelings. Feelings.... Ha. She had no feelings anymore. Other than disgust and anger, anyways.
Huffing, Squirrelheart did a semi-circle, searching for her apprentice. She narrowed her eyes against the sun- The light was bright this time of year, the sun low in the sky.
Once she had spotted Moonpaw, she padded over to the apprentice.
"Good morning, Moonpaw." She meowed, her voice even. "Meet me at the entrance of camp as soon as you've finished your morning meal. We're going training." Without another word, the she-cat turned and padded away.
-
Moonpaw nodded and looked at his sister as they went to the fresh-kill pile they stocked up yesterday,"Looks like I have a mentor for myself now, huh?!" he said excitedly
-
Hearing the tom's remark to his sibling, Squirrelheart let out a amused huff to herself. So he thought she was something to brag about? He was in for a rude awakening once they got out to train. Despite this, the words had given her a much-needed ego boost.
-
Moonpaw ate his meal and met Squirrelyheart by the entrance
-
With a sharp nod, Squirrelheart lead the apprentice out of camp. She took him through the trees, weaving in and out. Crows' calls made a cacophony of horridness, ringing through the forest with a deafening sound. She cringed with the noises, her pace quickening just to get out of range of their loud cawing.
-
"Are you ok?" Moonpaw asked his mentor
-
Squirrelheart glanced over her shoulder, looking at her apprentice. The young tom seemed concerned about her, something that no one has ever felt about her. She sighed and gave a nod, turning her head back around and continuing to walk.
-
Moonpaw continued to watch and make sure his mentor was ok
-
Squirrelheart came to a stop infront of a gap in the trees. Dark sand and dirty made up the floor, making it easy to slip and skid around- A perfect place to practice. Mastering such a terrain would surely make it easier for Moonpaw to fight anywhere at anytime.
"What do you know how to do so far?" Squirrelheart inquired, stepping into the sandy clearing.
-
Moonpaw shrugged,"I know how to attack, but only with my sister..."
-
Squirrelheart looked at the tom, nodding slowly. She made her way to the center of the clearing and crouched, her legs spread apart in a good stance.
"Show me what you know." She ordered, lowering her head to get ready to defend herself.
-
Moonpaw crouched into an attacking position and lunged at his mentor
-
Squirrelheart side-stepped and watched as the apprentice tumbled into the sand. She shook her head disapprovingly.
"Come on. Stand up. I'll show you how a real warrior trains." She meowed, lifting her head in triumph.
-
Moonpaw stood, shaking the sand off from his fur
-
Squirrelheart crouched low and nodded to the tom. "Since you're much smaller than me and most warriors, you can dart underneath and claw at their underbelly. Make sure you get out from under them before they fall on top of you- They could crush you under their weight, most of these big cats who sit around and eat mice all day." She instructed, attempting to end her words with humor, but most likely failed. "Now, you try. Don't use your claws- I'll have your ears if you give me one scratch today." Squirrelheart's eyes narrowed warningly, completely serious about taking his ears.
-
Moonpaw nodded and unged underneath her, using the back of his paw to slap her belly as if clawing her and quickly darted away
-
Squirrelheart nodded. "Good." She praised, shaking out her fur. "Now, let's try something else." Without warning, Squirrelheart darted forward. She swiftly stuck out a paw as she passed Moonpaw and tripped him. While he was on the ground, she turned around and leaped, pinning him to the ground.
"Did you see how I did that?" She asked, her chest heaving as she panted for breath. "Now, you try on me." Stepping off the tom, she backed up a few paces and stood perfectly still, waiting for the tom to come at her.
-
Moonpaw nodded and stood up, then lunged at her
