[size=1]( since this post is so long, there's a summary at the bottom. uvu )
it was a beautiful day out. the snow was finally beginning to melt, and the warmth of an oncoming spring filled the air. jay felt as if that afternoon was the perfect time to go out and practice some hunting. he knew he shouldn't have been going out, considering how sick he was - he had been confined to the medicine den for a while with some form of greencough, but it had been starting to get better, and that was reason enough for him to be able to go out. whistling happily to himself, he wound through the tall trees, trekking through the territory he knew like the back of his paw until the castle was just a dot on the horizon, blotted out by a few acres worth of trees. he found himself in a small forest clearing, with just enough space to hunt in. the shakai was preparing himself to do just that when the hallucinations happened.
at least, later he would assume they were hallucinations. they were nothing like anything he had ever seen before. a few feet in front of jay, a small semi-transparent mass of black energy appeared out of thin air, floating a few feet off the ground. it looked like a mini storm cloud had descended from the sky. jay froze and instinctively unsheathed his class, electricity sparking from his russet pelt. "er ..." he wasn't sure what to do; this cloud wasn't hurting anything, but it definitely didn't look natural. suddenly, it completely tripled in size, casting a strange purple shadow over the snowy clearing. jay stepped back. the cloud emnated a noise eerily similar to hundreds of animals shrieking and talking at once. at first it was faint, but it grew until it was unbearably loud. the strange mass then began changing shape - shifting into sillhouettes that were all too familiar. chast, ichigo, cam, frai, his parents, sousuke, barium ... plus everyone else who had ever been important to him. it changed so fast it was almost impossible to catch what each new form was. it repeated these shapes, over and over, switching between them so quickly they were beginning to morph together. the cacophony of voices suddenly joined together in unison, emitting one every sentence, sounding almost demonic: "i'll kill them all."
that was quite enough to send jay over the tipping point. he was enveloped in pure electricity - his elemental pelt, which he had accidentally shifted into in his fear and rage - and ran at the cloud at full speed. "no!" he snarled loudly, and then leapt into the air, claws extended. just as he was about to come down on the mass, it dissipated. just like that. instead, jay was sent hurtling into an oncoming tree. he crumpled to the ground, unconsious. and he was launched into his memories.
"woah! steady!"
jay yelped, but there was a wide grin upon his maw. he was sitting inside a red flyer wagon, rolling down the sidewalk. there was something strange about this wagon, however ; despite the fact that it was extremely beat up, there was a small contraption on the back of it. it was some sort of sideways propeller that pushed against the concrete on the sidewalk and pushed the wagon forward, moving it at a considerably fast speed. the wagon wobbled from side to side and looked like it was about to break, but the feline who was riding inside seemed rather proud. "wait 'til nya sees- gah! slow down!" his voice squeaked slightly as the wagon accelerated rapidly ; it was going down a steep hill. jay ducked his head down, red-brown fur blowing, electric blue optics squinted against the wind. the wagon neared the bottom of the hill and a steep turn that the tabby knew he would never make. he muttered something under his up breath and ducked down. one of the front wheels hit a rock hard, and came loose, causing sparks to fly as the metal dragged against the concrete. the wagon toppled forward, sending jay flying ten feet away. he slammed against the ground and rolled down yet another hill, this time one in a forest. eventually, he hit his head on a rock and fell unconscious. his limp body came to a stop at the bottom of the hill.
a starving mother fox wandered by and caught sight of jay's limp form. eager to get food for her pups and believing that he was dead, she grabbed him by the scruff and slowly began dragging him away.
the flashback, from when jay had first wound up in hawkclan all those moos ago, ended there. and the tom woke up - but it wasn't the same tom. it wasn't only the flashback that ended there, but his memories that did as well. all of those moons he'd spent in hawkclan, everyone he had met or spoken to, his experiences, his life - they were no longer in his brain. for all he knew, he was still a six-moon-old who lived in a pet shop. and strangely enough, his body accommodated to this assumption; while he was still knocked out, he unknowingly shifted back into a six-month old. his scars from moons in battle were gone, and his wild russet peot was replaced with the fluffy fur of a kitten. he was exactly as he had been when he had joined hawkclan originally.
jay groaned and sat up, rubbing his head. blue eyes wide, he glanced around the clearing. the sun was just beginning to set. last he remembered, he had been shooting down the sidewalk in his wagon ... how far was he from the pet shop? he glanced around nervously. "uh, hello?"
( summary of that long-ass post: jay knocked his head and fell unconsious. he got amnesia and basically lost all memories except for the ones the happened before he joined hawkclan at six moons old. he also shifted back into that age. )
