  • [fancypost borderwidth=0pt; font-size: 11px; text-align: justify; width: 450px;]The grey sky floated above the camp, it's pale light peeking through the tree tops, and a thin layer of snow covered the ground. The temperature wasn't too cold, as it never was in MistClan, even during Leafbare. Batstar sat outside her den, breathing in the crisp morning air. What a great day in Leaf-bare to have a ceremony, she though, rising to her paws. The dark brown she-cat turned and leaped atop the Tall Stone, her calm and distinct voice echoing across the camp and she recited the traditional words, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the Tall Stone for a Clan meeting!"
    --
Gorsepaw's ears twitched as he slowly slipped into consciousness, the familiar voice of his leader awaking him from slumber. The handsome tom quickly jumped to his paws and trotted out of the apprentices' den, enjoying a good stretch as he made his way. Gorsepaw glanced around the camp to see that he was the first cat out as he padded over to the Tall Stone. The golden apprentice sat a respectable distance from the Tall Stone and began smoothing down his blacl-striped fur, which had been ruffled by his sleep.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 500px;][justify]Snailpaw had been drifting somewhere between sleep and wakefulness when her mentor's call reached her ears. The tabby she-cat hurried to tidy her gray-brown pelt before following Gorsepaw out into the camp. She seated herself near the younger apprentice with a friendly bob of her head before glancing almost shyly towards the warriors' den.

Patchnose's stocky form padded back into camp just as Batstar called for a clan meeting. The patched tomcat had been out for an early morning hunt and carried his catches – a thrush and a mouse – in his jaws. It was a successful hunt for this time of year, at least by his standards. He took a moment to drop the prey on the dwindling fresh-kill pile before settling near the Tall Stone.[/justify][/fancypost]

    OOC:
So excited for Hickorypaw! P.S. Who is Palepaw's mentor?

    IC:
Hickorykit looked up from the mouse she'd been eating. Her tail flicked in excitement at Batstar's words. It was time for her apprentice ceremony! The young calico got up from where she'd been laying and gave her fur a quick grooming to help calm her nerves and make herself look presentable. She then shook herself one last time before padding toward the front of the crowd. Taking her place between two of the larger warriors, she met Batstar's gaze briefly and dipped her head in respect.

Frogstep had been out on the Dawn hunt with Patchnose and was just returning to camp, a thin squirrel in his jaws, when Batstar's called the Clan meeting. He deposited his catch in the smaller than usual fresh kill pile and watched in amusement as Hickorypaw and Gorsepaw took their places. He recalled that Hickorypaw's ceremony was today, she'd been so excited about it when he'd stopped by to tell the apprentices and kits a story the other day. He settled down a respectful distance from Batstar's and dipped his head to her, looking around to see who was settled where. The tom didn't mind the gloomy grey sky when the air was crisp and the prey was running. He enjoyed the more pleasant winter days and found the sight of the younger cats first experiencing snow and amusing show.

    [/fancypost]

  • Honeytail shifted comfortably in her moss and bracken nest, curling her tail even tighter around herself. The permanent nursery queen missed the days of taking care of tons and tons of kits. Rolling about energetically, their optimism, and their limitless imagination. Runningpaw and Crookedpaw had been made apprentices not too long ago, and to be honest, Honeytail just wanted them back as kits. The queen knew that they would be amazing warriors and spectacular assets to MistClan. Her son had been made an apprentice to Spiderwhisker, while Runningpaw was Sungaze's apprentice. Honeytail was extremely proud of them. A familiar call drifted into the well protected nursery, and the cream she-cat perked her ears, rising from the nest with a soft purr. She knew exactly what this was. It was Hickorykit's apprentice ceremony! A grin formed on Honeytail's maw and she squeezed out the entrance of the den, dark ginger tail waving in the air as she padded towards the small hollow under the rock where Batstar delivered her news.

    --

Runningpaw yawned and extended a paw, unknowingly right in Crookedpaw's mouth. The ginger-and-white apprentice gave a yelp as teeth suddenly bit down on her paw. "Crookedpawwww! she snapped, lunging forward to nip her brother's ear. The brown tabby rolled just in time, and teeth met just a mousetail above him.

"Then get your paws out of my mouth!" Crookedpaw retorted just as fast. The siblings were poised to go at it right there in the apprentice den right before a yowl made the two freeze in their tracks. A meeting? Unlike Honeytail, Crookedpaw had no idea what was happening. The grumpy tom flashed a teasing glare at Runningpaw and shook scraps of moss from his pelt, squeezing out of the den. The crisp morning air was refreshing to him, and the usually stoic apprentice let the tiniest of smiles flash through. Viridian gaze flicking around the clearing, Crookedpaw spotted Gorsepaw and Honeytail already in the clearing. He briefly waved his tail at his mother, then padded towards his fellow apprentice.

Meanwhile, Runningpaw had already scampered to Gorsepaw's side, bright green gaze focused on Batstar. The young ginger she-cat had always strived to be leader of MistClan one day - but it would be hard, no doubt about that. "G'morning, Gorsepaw and Snailpaw!" she purred, ignoring Crookedpaw's grumpy look.

  • Stormspots

Stormspots let out a small moan of protest as the dappled tom was prodded in the side by his sister, Fallenfeather. "Stop sleeping like a hedgehog and get up, you lazy lump." She hissed as she tapped her brother once more. "Alright! I'm coming, keep your fur on!" He teased as he stretched and followed his sister and sat near the back of the crowd of cats. "This must be Hickorykit's apprentice ceremony." He said happily as he looked up at Batstar.

  • spiderwhisker looked over at batstar from where he was organizing morning patrols. "i guess this will have to wait until the meeting is over." he said, turning away from the group of cats before him. he pushed his way to the near front of the crowd, making sure batstar knew he was there. the bright morning sun shone down into the camp, illuminating the spot right in front of batstar. it was like their ancestors knew that something important was happening.

  • Sungaze stood up, shaking the dust out of her pelt as she slowly blinked. 'I wonder what this could be about? she pondered as she approached the Tall Stone, hoping to get some sort of an explanation as to why her much-needed nap was to be interrupted.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 500px;][justify]Upon hearing her name, Snailpaw quickly and embarrassedly turned away from the warriors' den. "Oh, hey, Runningpaw," she greeted the other she-cat as several more of their clan-mates arrived at the meeting. Based on Hickorykit's placement near the front of the small crowd, the leader's apprentice could guess the purpose of today's meeting. "I almost forgot that Hickorykit and Maplekit's ceremonies were coming up," she commented to the other apprentices. "If they kick, I'm not sleeping beside either of them. One of you guys can." As one of the older two apprentices, Snailpaw rarely missed an opportunity to flaunt her seniority.[/justify][/fancypost]

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0pt; font-size: 11px; font-family: arial; text-align: justify; width: 250px;][color=white]Redcloud's ear perked at Batstar's ringing voice. With a grunt, and few choice words, he eventually rose from his crouched position. Pop! His back cracked as he straightened out the uncomfortable position he had been holding for a few hours. As he rose to all fours, he gave one more glance at the herbs he was sorting before padding out of the medicine den. His brilliant amber eyes shied away from the bright sun, clearly not used to the fiery winter sun that made its presence in the camp clearing. Redcloud made his way soowly to the meeting, his mind reeling on the apprenticeship. Not knowing whether he was getting an apprentice or not, he just shrugged it off and settled himself towards the back of the growing crowd. He folded his hind legs to a sit, and promptly began grooming his long, powder white fur.

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px solid transparent; width: 300px; line-height: 85%;][justify][sup][color=white]Palepaw awoke quietly with a quick stretch. She yawned, then blinked her eyes and adjusted to the light. The pale gray apprentice slid out of her den, enjoying the stillness of the grey morning and smiling to herself as she padded over to the fresh-kill pile. She picked up a mouse from the pile, padding back over to a nearby tree she often ate by. She dug into her meal, being happy to be alone on one of her favorite types of mornings. She could already feel the humidity in the air and took note of the upside-down leaves, promising rain. She liked rain as well as humidity and the gray color of the sky - it somehow seemed to welcome her.
When Batstar's call rang through the camp, she finished up her meal in no hurry, taking her time for one final stretch before heading over to Tall Stone. She blinked her pale green visionaries a few times, then settled next to the accumulating group of apprentices. She looked over at a few of them expectantly, as if she was wishing for a conversation, but looked away shyly and tried to hide her embarrassment. She wasn't a social butterfly but she liked a few conversations here and there, and sometimes she just didn't know how to get the conversation started. Instead of talking to the others, she turned her gaze to Batstar, wondering if this would be Hickorykit's apprentice ceremony.
//Who will be Palepaw's mentor? owo

  • Maplekit slowly blinked awake, roused by Batstar's loud yowl. It took her a few moments to realize what was happening. Was it a....Ceremony? Ceremony.....Ceremony! The she-kit jolted to her feet, clumps of moss and fur sticking up randomly on her deep red pelt. It was her and Hickorykit's apprentice ceremony! "Mouse-dung!" The kit darted out of the nursery, haphazardly skittered through the crowd, and skidded to a stop beside her sister. "Did I miss it? I'm not too late, am I?" She shook a few pieces of moss from her pelt, and smoothed down what pieces of fur she could see. A few scraps still clung here and there, though.

  • [align=center][fancypost borderwidth=0pt; font-size: 11px; text-align: justify; width: 450px;]ooc. I updated the list on the joining topic post about Palepaw for you, Sam. Sorry about that ^^.

ic. Gorsepaw's ears and tail perked up as Snailpaw sat down beside him. He didn't notice her meaningful glance at the warriors' den at all, telling himself to stay calm and cool with Snailpaw so near. He did have a crush on her, but he didn't want to scream it to the entire Clan, so he kept pretty calm about it. The handsome apprentice mewed his greeting to the other apprentices as they gathered, and blinked at his mentor, Patchnose, remembering his own apprentice ceremony and knowing that this would be Hickorykit's and Maplekit's.
    --
Batstar gazed down at her Clan, blinking back to each cat who greeted her from below. Her golden eyes sparked with amusement as Maplekit scurried to the front of the crowd, her fur quite untidy. The leader always took pride in her wonderful Clan, and apprentice and warrior ceremonies were always her favorite. Each new cat named an apprentice added extra help to the Clan, and with their training they would make perfect additions as warriors.
The dark chocolate-brown she-cat paused a moment for everyone to settle before she began, "The Clan relishes in new apprentices, and the naming of these young cats shows that MistClan thrives and will remain strong. Even in this Leaf-bare, StarClan has blessed us well with good hunting and new kits." The leader lowered her gaze until it set on Hickorykit, and Batstar addressed her straight this time, "Hickorykit, please come forward."

  • spiderwhisker eyed hickorykit carefully, but without letting any emotions show on his face from his seated position on the side of tallrock. the kit bounced excitedly to the front and spiderwhisker remembered his own apprentice ceremony, where he vowed to lead the clan one day no matter what.

[fancypost borderwidth=0pt; font-size: 11px; font-family: arial; text-align: justify; width: 300px;][color=white]Redcloud sat back, constantly shifting his weight form paw to paw. Yes, he was antsy to get the meeting over, large crowds seemed to be bothering him more and more lately. One more time, he tried to find something to occupy his attention, [i]anything
. He started at the sky, the sun being shadows by large gray clouds. His lifted his nose, rain. He could feel it, the humidity rising to such an intensity, his sky began to sweat. Though it was leaf-bare, the few moments before rainfall brought back the fond memory of green-leaf.
Redcloud glanced at Batstar, she had called Hickorykit down to the Tall Rock. Well, not that he really cared. He watched as the overly excited soon-to-be apprentice flounced up to the rock with nervousness that he no longer experienced. A sharp pang of longing hit his chest, shadows crossing her other wise brilliant white face. Redcloud had to look down to hide this sudden feeling of longing for what he once had in his joyous youth. But no longer. With a shark of his head, he replaced it facial features with a usual small scowl and stoic eyes.

    OOC:
Hickorykit jumped slightly when Batstar's addressee her eye to eye, but with a nervous first step, she began making her way to where MistClan's leader stood. She ended her trip with and excited little bounce, the eagerness she had for finally becoming an apprentice overcoming the nervousness she felt in front of her whole Clan. She held her head high as she waited for the next part of the ceremony. She knew her sister would be next and couldn't wait for their training together to begin

Frogstep noticed Redcloud taking his place at the back of the group of cats and nodded to the young white cat. He didn't see if Redcloud responded or not because Batstar was calling Hickorykit forward. The little kit started with a nervous step that quickly turned into an excited bounce as she made her way forward. Frogstep remembered his own apprentice ceremony, and looked back on it with find memories, even if his days as a warrior hadn't turned out as expected.

Palepaw inched away from the apprentices a bit so she could see Hickorykit better. The short female wondered how long it would be until her warrior ceremony, but she focused on the two young kits with a shy smile. Their eagerness to become apprentices and serve their clan was undoubted; they would make great warriors. She remembered her own apprentice ceremony, smiling to herself as she closed her eyes and thought of it. She was still quiet back then, but her happiness shined like ten million suns!

  • At least she hadn't slept through her ceremony. Hickorykit would've woken me up, though. That would be quiet the memory to look back on; the day Maplekit accidentally slept through her apprentice ceremony! But I didn't. That's good. The she-kit knew she'd look back on this day forever, remembering the start of her apprenticeship. I hope me and Hickorykit can train together. I wonder who our mentors'll be?

    IC:
Hickory kit was unknowingly wondering about the same things as her sister at the moment, trying to remember which warriors already had apprentices and who those apprentices were. With a glance at her sister she felt guilty that she hadn't woken her up earlier, but they'd been up most of the night playing a game of Hickorykit's invention, and the calico hadn't recalled that there ceremony would be today when she'd first awoken. She met her sister's gaze with a 'sorry I didn't wake you' look that she hoped would be a good enough apology for now.

    [/fancypost]

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0pt; font-size: 11px; text-align: justify; width: 450px;]ooc. Alright, sam, I will add Palepaw to the ceremony. ;)

ic. Batstar's golden gaze followed Hickorykit as she stepped forward at the leader's request. "From this moment on, until you earn your full warrior name, you will now be known as Hickorypaw," the brown she-cat paused, her eyes raising and searching over the heads of the cats before her. Batstar's eyes finally stopped on a grey tom with lighter patches on his coat. "Stormspots, you have proved her loyalty and skills in MistClan, and I know you will pass on these traits to your apprentice," Batstar finished, her gaze resting gently on Stormspots, awaiting Hickorypaw and Stormspots to complete their part with the touching of noses.
    --
Gorsepaw loved Clan gatherings, the feeling of being together and being strong. Ceremonies were always his favorite; they sparked the energy he always enjoyed in these times, a feeling that was running through his body now, from ears to tail-tip. Upon hearing Stormspots being named Hickorypaw's mentor, Gorsepaw was overjoyed. He knew the cat's past had been hard, and it had been a challenge for the grey tom and his sister to find a home. Gorsepaw knew that the pair had found the place where they belonged, here with a Clan of cats whose ancenstors had been runaways from the original Clans. This moment truly relfected what Gorsepaw felt.[/fancypost]
