  • hey guys. c: I've had an idea of writing a book for about 4 months or so, but I've been so busy and overwhelmed from school and personal issues i haven't started writing. I also don't have a laptop because it's broken and i feel like it's too much work to write on paper and then type out.

anyways, i have general idea of what I'm wanting to write and i believe I'm an alright writer. I'm also aware that getting recognition from a novel is very hard. But, I'm just curious as to what ideas you guys would have, or some advice? any ways to get motivated and to stay with it?

    thank you in advance c:

I can't remember what site, though. She got hers published and I found it in Barnes & Noble!

  • I would suggest creating outlines for whoever your main characters are, if you have that planned already. Also, I would write out your basic plot and details right now while it's still relatively fresh in you mind. That way if you don't get a chance to write it soon, you'll have that to go back to. Also, something I do to get motivated when writing a new book is to set goals for myself that I know are possible to achieve. This can create a sense of accomplishment even before you totally finish your book, which can be nice because of how long it takes to write. What I also did was I would fine music that fit the mood of whatever I was writing at the time and would listen to it while or right before writing. I wish you the best of luck on your book and I hope it all goes well! :)

  • Thank you for all the great ideas guys (: I'll definitely keep them in mind. Hoping to start planning an outline sometime next week. (:

  • I've started a bunch of books, sadly my computer crashed and I lost it all. (The loss of my unfinished 50,000 words was espically hard) So track. Also what was the book that Nebula wore called?

  • that must really suck, loosing all your words. hopefully if you decide to write it, it won't do it again. omg, i don't even know what i'd do if that happened to me.

  • Luckily i had a school project and decided to write 2000 words per a day for a story (bad idea, very hard) and printed it out at some printer place are store thing. Just got to copy it all over. Plus, I would just start over again. (The computer is a family computer and horribly slow, so I write on iPad now or paper)
    I a
Ways love to flesh out the world, history, lore, culture whenever I am writing(I like fantasy) at least some before I start actually writing. It is surprisingly fun.

Fantasy is surprisingly fun to write. I think it's because you can quite literally make anything happen and it be "realistic" for that world.

  • agreeing- neb's book is good (i read it). but writing a book is difficult and takes lots of time and effort. i have been writing since i was a toddler, but i still find it very difficult to write. there will be many drafts, lots of mistakes and clutters, and you'll most likely get stressed out a times, but it's worth it.
