Casey leaned back on the pillow and looked at him sleepily. She was on the brink of falling asleep. "Love you..." she said softly, closing her eyes.

He wasn't sure if he heard her right but didn't want to wake her. "Love you? She loves me? Might be the medicine. I will check on the morning." He said to himself quietly.
-
The next morning, Casey woke up yawning. Her hand hurt pretty bad so she got up and walked to the kitchen to get some pain medication. She ate some toast and downed the pills.
-
Kyle crashed on the couch with her. He was still asleep when she woke and went to the kitchen.
-
Casey went upstairs and changed into some light grey boy shorts and a white tank top. She walked back downstairs and started making some legitimate breakfast for her and Kyle.
-
He finally woke when he smelled the food. He stood up after rubbing his face with his hands. He walked in and saw her. "Need any help?" He asked.
-
"Psh, nah. Cooking with one hand is easy as pie," she said sarcastically, struggling to flip a pancake. "A little help would be nice, yeah."
-
He smiled and took her hand gently helping her flip the pancake. "I thought you would need some help." He said with a smile. He thought about what she said last night as he watched her.
-
She grinned and leaned against him. When the pancakes were done she set the table and sat down too eat. She sipped her orange juice.
-
He wanted to confront her about it but decided it could wait. He sat and ate with her. "How does it feel?"
-
Casey shrugged, nudging her pancakes with her fork. "It hurts but I'm fine. I took some more pain pills when I woke up so it's kind of numb right now."
-
He smiled genty to her. "That's good. I hope it gets better soon." He ate some pancakes and finished putting the plate in the sink. He looked at her and sat on the counter. "So about last night. Is that what you didn't want me knowing? You didn't want me knowing about you loving me?" He said looking at he waiting for a response.
-
Casey expertly covered her shock at his question. "What? Where'd you get that idea?" she asked, pushing her plate away.
-
He looked at her and seemed confused. "Last night. Before you fell asleep you said love you to me. Don't lie please." He said looking at her.
-
She was silent for a second, desperately trying to think of an excuse. "I...I do love you...as a brother. And besides, I was on happy pills last night. You can't hold anything I said against me." She rubbed her hand gently. The lie was believable. Hopefully.
-
He didn't want to get into a fight again so he simply shrugged it off. "Ok, I suppose your right." He said looking her over once. "Maybe I should go. Get well soon." He smiled gently an got off the counter walkin to her and hugging her
-
She hugged him too, trying not to let him feel her heart jump. As he was walking out, Casey's younger brother, Chase, was coming in. He'd spent the night before with a friend and was now home. "Hey, Kyle," Chase said, slipping past him.
-
Kyle walked out and stepped I the side as her brother came in. He grabbed his arm slightly stopping him. "Chase help your sister please." He said with a small smile before letting him go.
-
"Um...okay...? What's wrong with her?" Chase asked cautiously. He wasn't about to go in there if Casey was having some girl drama stuff, no way.
-
He looked back to him. "Her hand has stitches and you wouldn't want them coming open. Just help her if she needs it." He winked before walking out.
