Smirking, Leon said, "Yes, we finally caught up."

OOC: We should add something at the end about Joan or someone official calling Clarissa about the slave trade since in the final battle she shows up again cuz the president has all the state alchemists help with that. Then it'll tie back into the rp.
IC: "So how did things go?" Delisa asked, mainly talking to Selene and Leon.
-
"Things got a little interesting..." Leon trailed off, glancing at Selene. She just sighed and looked back at him.
-
"Oh?" Delisa questioned with a raised eyebrow. Noticing the glances, she added, "Everyone okay?"
-
"Yeah, we're fine," Leon replied. "None of us got hurt."
-
"It just got interesting, that's all," Derek muttered.
-
"Uh huh," Delisa muttered, still not sure what happened.
"Are you going to tell us what happened? Because I'm still confused," Clarissa pointed out. Then, realizing Selene might not want to talk about it, she added, "If you want. No pressure." -
Sharing a look with Selene, Leon explained, "Selene lost control and attacked the slave owner. These two had to come get me to calm her down and she had an emotional breakdown."
-
"Oh," Delisa muttered, her eyes widening in surprise. "That type of interesting." She glanced at her friend, looking sympathetic.
Clarissa frowned, but tried not to look disappointed. She wanted more details than that. That part, she had witnessed. She wanted the why. The only reason why she was managing to keep herself from asking more questions is she knew how touchy the subject was for Selene, and didn't want to cause another emotional meltdown.OOC: She has some restraint.. sometimes... xD
-
OOC: Derek won't this time.
IC:
"I don't mean to pry, but I don't understand what happened," Derek said. "I get that Selene freaked out, but it's a little unclear why." -
Knowing how much Clarissa and Derek wanted more of an explanation, Leon looked at Selene and asked, "Is it ok if I tell them why?"
After a moment of inner debate, she nodded, taking a deep breath to brace herself.
"You know how Selene doesn't talk? He's the reason why." Summing it up, Leon explained, "When she was little, she watched him kill her parents."
Shuddering, Selene closed her eyes and leaned on Leon. He gently wrapped his arms around her to comfort her as she tightened her grip on him. -
Clarissa was left speechless after that comment, wondering what it would be like to witness someone murder your parents. She'd lost family, but nothing like that.
"Oh wow..." Delisa muttered. "I'm sorry you had to run into him again."
"Why don't we stop with the liberations for a while?" Clarissa suggested, feeling they all needed a break.OOC: Joan (Or whoever tells Clarissa about the new state alchemist assignment) should call right around now. It would be ironically perfect timing.
-
"That might be a good idea," Leon agreed with a sigh.
Relaxing after a moment, Selene agreed as well. They could work on sign language and martial arts lessons some more. -
Just then, Clarissa's phone rang.
-
A bit surprised, Clarissa reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. Seeing it was Joan, she answered. "Hey Joan, what's up?"
"Big stuff," the Blazing Sun alchemist answered. "We're going to attack the guy who runs the entire slave trade, the homunculi's father."
Clarissa's eyes widened a bit in surprise. "Wow. I was expected a 'nothing much, how are you?'. How are you planning to do that?"
"Greed told us that the hencho(XD typo. I'm leaving it) will be underneath Central in a few days, so we're going to get everyone we can to help and attack him," Joan replied.
So they're using the default plan, huh? Clarissa thought before saying, "I guess that means you want me to come help?"
"Yeah," Joan confirmed. "If you've got a handle on your flame alchemy, that would be really helpful."
Unable to resist a smirk, Clarissa responded, "Actually, that's been going well. I can use it without blowing everything up."
"Great," Joan said, sounding optimistic. "When do you think you can get over here?"
Clarissa paused a moment to think before answering, "Maybe tomorrow. I'll ask the others if they want to come." Moving the phone away from her ear, she quickly explained what was going on to everyone else, and then asked if they wanted to come too. -
Leon and Selene looked at each other, her nodding and him shaking his head. "Wait, you want to go?" Leon asked skeptically. Selene nodded. "It will be dangerous. We could be recognized," he warned, clearly worried.
I need to go. I need to see the slave trade end myself.
"Are you sure? Everyone thinks we're dead, what if they come after us later? We might be watching our backs for the rest of our lives."
Looking determined, Selene wrote, I don't care, I'm going. I've spent too many years working towards this to not be there at the finish.
Leon sighed. It made sense, but he still wasn't happy about it. Finally, seeing he wasn't going to change her mind, he relented. "Ok, fine. If you're sure, we'll go."
I'm sure. -
"I'm going too," Derek and Laura said in unison.
-
Clarissa wasn't surprised that Derek said he wanted to go to, but she immediately realized it probably wouldn't be a good idea. She sighed inwardly, then told Joan, "It sounds like I'll be bringing friends." Deciding it would be best to leave who was coming vague so she wouldn't have to include or dis-include Derek and cause a big mess, she added, "I'll text you later about who's all coming." Then she told Joan she had to go and hung up.
Dreading the conversation she was about to start, she turned to Derek and said, "I was kind of hoping you'd stay here..." -
Joan answered with an, "alright."
"Why would I sit here when you're risking your life to stop the slave trade?" Derek answered defensively, looking slightly insulted. "Of course I'm coming."
-
"Well..." Clarissa shifted in com furry ably. How do I explain this without offending him? she wondered. "I'm just... I don't..." She stumbled, then sighed. "I just don't want you getting hurt. You're a great fighter and all, much better than I am, but me and Laura have the advantage of alchemy, and everyone else going are amazingly talented. I just don't want you to get hurt." She blurted her excuse out quickly, knowing no matter how she worded it, it would sound bad.
