A pale grey tabby queen lay peacefully, napping in the nursery. But not for much longer. She was quickly startled awake by a pain. It was different from the usual kicks her kits gave, and Lilyshine soon realized what was happening. A pang of both fear and excitement went through her body. The kits are on their way! The young she-cat told a nearby queen to inform Ferretfoot and Lavenderbloom. Lilyshine waited for the medicine cat to arrive, wincing with each pain.

Ferretfoot rushed over to his mate. He knew his kits were going to be born. Fear and exciting dan through Ferretfoot's body. "Lilyshine everything is going to be okay" he said to her.

This is from Warriors Wish in case you're not sure how a birthing should go! :3
"The birth of kittens is a beautiful and natural thing, and will usually go well and uneventful. However, there are many herbs that are useful in making kitting a less painful and smoother process, including helping queens feed their kits with milk. A queen may request a medicine cat be present for a birthing, and they often are, but a queen can give birth without help.
A queen's belly will slowly grow larger as the kits develop, usually over a two-moon or so period. At the end of which a she-cat will begin to have a sudden drop of body temperate (which can be checked by touching the pads with your nose). As she gets ready to give birth she may begin to purr and breath heavily, and her chest will rise and fall. She will then have to push out the kittens as she gives birth, which (or so the queens tell me) can be painful. Most cats will give birth to two to four kittens, but it is not unusual for a she-cat to only give birth to one. A she-cat will have to lick her kittens at birth to start them breathing and get rid of the filmy sac that covers them at birth.
This should go rather uneventfully! Poppyseeds should never be used on a pregnant queen because the she-cat needs to feel the pain to push out the kittens, but juniper, mallow or thyme is useful to give a queen before kitting to ensure a smooth birth. Feverfew is good to give queens after they've finished kitting, to expel anything left and to ease any pain or bleeding. Mallow and borage can both help a queen to keep a good supply of milk for their kits."
As soon as she heard the news Lavenderbloom went racing out of her den with herbs in tow, heading straight towards the nursery as fast as her paws would take her. She arrived to see Lilyshine in her nest, the kitting having just begun. The medicine cat wasted no time in opening her kit and grabbing a few bits of mallow, passing it over to her sister immediately. "This will help with some of the pain," she explained, a comforting but worried smile spreading across her face. She had to stay strong though, for this was a very important day.[/fancypost]

Ferretfoot grabbed a stick that was nearby."bite down on this" Ferretfoot said to his mate.
-
OOC: Thanks so much for posting that! c: It's very helpful.
IC: Lilyshine quickly lapped up the herbs Lavenderbloom had put in front of her. She then bit down on the stick her mate provided, mumbling a 'thank you' through it. The tabby queen felt a pang of pain, which, as the experienced queens had told her, meant it was time to push. Soon came the first kit- a silver she-cat.
-
Ferretfoot licked his newly born daughter. She started meowing.
ooc: I guess this is Mallowkit
-
OOC: Yup! The next is Wavekit.
IC: Not too long after the first, another kit came. This time, a grey tom with wavy tabby markings. Lilyshine groomed the tiny kit, removing the sac and starting his breathing.
-
"Lilyshine I think there is still more" Ferretfoot said after grooming his daughter.
-
[fancypost bgcolor=#; border: 0px; width: 350px; letter-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 8pt;]The medicine cat nodded her head in approval to Ferretfoot's quick thinking, realizing he must have picked that up from Frostlight's birthing. It wasn't too long until the first kit was born. Her heart fluttered when she realized it was a little girl, and was soon followed by a tom. Her first niece and nephew! "You're doing wonderful, Lilyshine," the medicine cat purred, impressed with her motherly instincts. Even Ferretfoot was helping out, something not all fathers would do during a birthing. She gently placed her paw on the queen's stomach to confirm Ferretfoot's thoughts. There were definitely more kits, though how many she couldn't say for sure.[/fancypost]
-
"Thanks, Lavenderbloom," Lilyshine said to her sister, giving her a weak smile. The next kit that was born was a grey tom, with a white chest, underbelly, and tail tip. A tabby ginger tom followed soon after. The final kit to be born was a solid brown she-cat. After the last kit was cleaned, Lilyshine meowed, "I think that's it."
OOC: Those were Earlykit, Reedkit, and Willowkit. Sorry the last three were all born in one post. I didn't want to drag it out too much. cx
-
"We have two daughters and three sons" Ferretfoot said to his mate.
-
[fancypost bgcolor=#; border: 0px; width: 350px; letter-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 8pt;]Three more kits followed soon after the first two were born, bringing the total to five. Lavenderbloom admired Lilyshine's calmness as she gave birth, for not all queens could keep their cool like that. The medicine cat did a thorough inspection of all of the kittens now that her sister was finished birthing. Each one was at a healthy size and seemed to be doing well. She smiled happily at the little family, proud of her sister and excited for her nieces and nephews. "Make sure you eat this borage and feverfew, okay?" she meowed, passing along the herbs to Lilyshine. She didn't want to linger too long knowing her sister would surely be tired.[/fancypost]
-
Ferretfoot picked up the wavy striped kit and said "I guess this one is Wavekit" he put Wavekit down and picked up Reedkit and said "and this one is Reedkit and the other tom will be Earlykit".
-
"I will," Lilyshine replied to Lavenderbloom, "Thank you." She was glad that her sister was the Clan's medicine cat, and could be by her side during the birth. As she lapped up the herbs, the new mother looked at her kits. Five kits... She smiled warmly at them, nodding as Ferretfoot named the toms. "The brown she-cat will be Willowkit, and the silver one Mallowkit."
-
"I think Willowkit looks like my father. I never met him but my mother said he was completely brown. I am guessing Reedkit gets his looks from your side" Ferretfoot said proudly "Mallowkit got her pattern from me since we are both points...." Ferretfoot continued talking about the kit's looks.
-
[fancypost bgcolor=#; border: 0px; width: 350px; letter-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 8pt;]"I'll go ahead and give you two some space, okay? If you need anything at all just send word," Lavenderbloom meowed with a tired smile, giving her sister a quick lick on the head before heading towards the entrance. She stopped for one more moment to look back at her family, seeing all of the love they had to share. Even Ferretfoot, though he wasn't blood related in any way, felt like a part of her family too. "Goodnight, everyone," she said with a barely masked yawn, heading out towards her den for a nap.[/fancypost]
-
Lilyshine nodded in agreement with Ferretfoot's guesses as to where the kits got their looks. "Wavekit looks the most similar to me," she meowed, looking at her silver tabby son. His stripes were different than hers, his being wavy, but other than that, the young tom looked much like his mother. "Goodnight, Lavenderbloom," Lilyshine meowed as her sister exited the nursery.
-
"I am guessing Earlykit gets his looks from your side" Ferretfoot said "but I think he has my eyes"
-
Awh it is about time!
-
OOC:@moonlightfurret: They won't have opened their eyes yet. :3
IC: "Mm, probably," Lilyshine agreed with her mate. The young queen opened her jaws in a yawn, tired from the birth. She watched as her kits mewed and walked awkwardly on new legs, bringing them back to her side when they strayed too far.
