thank goodness i read 'watership down'

Bremen had been out for solo patrol. Well, that's what he was going to call it if anyone asked so that they would think that he was doing something productive. In all reality, he was out on a stroll, carelessly walking along and not taking much attention to what was around him. He could see, after all, what was next to him through peripheral, so why waste time to just stare at a tree? As he padded down a path, a thick scent of rabbits came to his nostrils. He narrowed his eyes as he quickened his pace. Not too long after speeding up he found a rather large clearing in the bare forest. A few holes were scattered about the ground, two near the boundaries of the clearing, and another near the center on the side of a mound. He was grateful that the snow had melted partially so that he could see the gaps in the earth. As he stood there, he suddenly saw a nose poking out from the center hole, its muzzle twitching and suddenly vanishing before popping its whole head out. Bremen took cover quickly and hoped that the hare wouldn't spot nor scent him. Lucky for him, the wind current was in his favor and the rabbit did not discover the coyote that was about the warren. The first rabbit hopped out of the whole, twitching its ears before jumping along as two more followed in its steps. They went around for a bit trying to find a suitable patch to nibble at. The WindClanner felt a smile curve about his lips as he stared at the creatures, completely unaware of his location as they went about their business. Without much thought, the canine sprinted forward, letting out a hungry growl. The rabbits began to stamp in dread and darted back to the hole. It probably would have been wise to wait until they were further away from cover, for each one was able to get underneath the ground before Bremen was able to catch up. He released an angry snort as he padded up to the whole in which they had vanished into. He stuck his muzzle into the hole, the heavy scent of the game making him even more enraged. But he suddenly backed up with a whine, shaking his head. One of the rabbits had had enough of his presence and struck him with his claws, giving him a nasty cut on his nose that stung from the filth on the animal's talons. Deciding that they weren't worth his struggle and time, the black coyote turned in a huff and began his way back down the path in which he once came from.

Vento happened to come by the clearing just as Bremen was leaving the area. He padded up to the coyote and woofed quietly,"Hey, Bremen! Let's go back there, we can get a lot a prey from those dens!" The wolf shook out his fur and looked back towards the rabbit dens eagerly.

Mark didn't understand anything about hunting and as he peered closely at the dog who was focusing hard on getting a rabbit, he would have vetted his left front leg that the guy was going to kill it. But no.

Emerging from the shadows, Mark leaped a few paces until he was right beside Breman. He chuckled at the fact that he must have seemed weird before glancing over in his direction. "Unlucky, mate." The apprentice sighed, crinkles appearing beside his eyes as he smirked. "That was just very unlucky. Anyway the name's Marginpaw but you can call me Mark. Actually please call me Mark." He nodded in a greeting in the other wolf's way.
