Kanaya had been spending a lot of her time in the library as of discovering it, fliping throught the pages of both old and fairly new books. She had learned to read back when she lived with some of her knowledgable siblings, and even understood a bit of languages aside from the English that seemed most common. Currently, she was sitting slightly hunched over a title that had been called "Twilight". It seemed a bit odd, but she'd been entranced by the thought of so-called vampires and romance, however clichéd said topics seemed to be in the book. Jade gaze flickering briefly upward, she readjusted, now laying in a more comfortable position and reading the book. She didn't notice the sun setting outside, nor the way a white light, seemingly cast by herself, was the only illumination. The tabby was so deeply engulfed in the book that not even a tornado could rip her attention from it, but, perhaps another living being could.

Every evening she went there after finishing all her warrior duties to return any completed books she still had on her person, and take out more literature to read.
She had just finished placing all her books back in their proper places by the time the time night fell. All light provided by the sun shining through the windows was drained away by the time she even began to search for new reads, leaving her to squint at titles and covers in darkness. Walking out the end of an aisle of books, the fluffy femme turned to go down another. At the end of this line bordered by book shelves, she noticed a feline hunched over something.
Wait...were they glowing? A dim glow seemed to be surrounding their form, providing the only strong light in the whole room.
    Curious, she approached her.
"Um, hello?" She greeted, staring, puzzled, at her. Unsure if she should comment on the glowing or not, she left it off there.

"Hmm?" Kanaya snapped out of her former focus, glancing around and getting hurriedly to her paws. She turned on her heel, eyes adjusting to the dim light she provided to make out the figure standing there. "Oh, hello," she greeted, glancing hesitantly back towards the book and wondering if she should just leave it open for right now. "I do hope I'm not disturbing you or anything," she began, taking a few steps forward only to see the other feline better. "If so, I'd be happy to return to my room and continue reading." The tabby smiled merrily, turning around quickly to slide a leaf into the page she was currently and close the book. Kanaya then realized she hadn't a clue as to what time of day it actually was, considering she'd headed to the library just after finishing a short hunting expedition, and she quickly looked out one of the windows along one wall, somewhat shocked to see night had fallen.

Had she came off as rude, demanding subconsciously that Kanaya should leave? How did she always manage to make a fool of herself?
"Oh no, you are fine..." She reassured with an awkward and apologetic smile.
"It just seemed like you were, erm...glowing, just a bit."

Kanaya opened her mouth, then perked her ears, looking quite confused. She glanced down at her paws, seeing that there was, indeed, a faint white glow radiating from her. Swallowing a bout of uncertainty, she gave a somewhat nervous smile. "That doesn't usually happen," she joked awkwardly after a moment, wondering how on Prospit she came to be glowing. "So, uh, what exactly are you looking for? Unless you've found your book already, that is," she asked after a quick pause, attempting a smile. StarClan, she probably knew this place way better than Kanaya did, which made her question practically useless.

"I simply had to ask to know my eyes were not deceiving me, for I've never seen anything like it before. I actually I think it's rather intriguing. It's as if you are your own night light," She joked, giggling lightly.
"I honestly haven't the slightest clue of what kind of book I'm searching for," she admitted. With the dim glow illuminating from Kanaya, she caught a glimpse of a book laying closed before the feline. Since her paw was shielding the cover, she couldn't see the title.
"What are you reading? If you don't mind me asking."

Kanaya relaxed a bit at that, realizing that burst of nerves must've been odd, considering she usually tried to keep a confident and friendly front. "Certainly! Being able to have a light no matter what the situation shall be quite a nifty ability," she nodded with a humorous grin, glancing around at the shelves as Odessa answered. She gave the fellow feline a sympathetic look, blinking momentarily but then moving her paws behind the book, revealing the title and cover. "Oh, no, of course not." She paised, taking a second to inspect the title. "It's called 'Twilight'. It's very... interesting, but a bit dramatic. In simple terms, it's about modern vampire romance, I suppose," Kanaya informed her, shrugging all the while.

Perhaps she should try and read some literature on it, though. It seemed that she had exhausted all of her other options at the moment, so why not give it a chance?
"Do you read romance novels often?" She inquired. "Personally, the vampire part would interests me much more."

Kanaya nudged the book forward, thinking about Odessas question for a moment. "Well, I suppose I do. Really, I tend to choose books that deal with mythology and fantasy, and the majority of them happen to have romance as a main topic," she answered thoughtfully, mind flickering to the previous books she'd read. She hadn't actually noticed the huge part romance played whilst reading them, but thinking back, they all seemed to. The feline gave a shrug, taking a second look at the cover of the book and frowning momentarily. "What do you like in a book?" Kanaya questioned curiously, gazing back at Odessa and smiling cheerfully.

"Hopefully the romance in Twilight is not like ones in mythology," she commented with a small smile.
"Zeus and Hera, Hades and Persephone, Narcissus and Echo...none of those come to mind when one thinks of a healthy relationship."
Shaking her head, she responded to her question,
"Oh, my usual preference of novels are rather dull; I prefer non-fiction books. Nothing that could compare to your fantastic taste in literature."
Suddenly, she noticed how open she was being towards this femme...and she didn't even know her name! It usually took so long for her to open up to someone, yet somehow she felt so comfortable around someone she didn't know at all.
"Oh, my sincerest apologizes. It seems we've been having this entire conversation without me having the slightest clue of what your name is."

(( heh !! it's fine, i understand completely as i'm replying to this before going to take the SAT so rip my brain ))
Kanaya bit back a chuckle at this, nodding in agreement upon hearing the famed couples of mythology. "The first part of the book was consumed entirely by unnecessary tension and relationship problems, but it seemed to get better midway through," she informed. She was silent for a moment upon Odessa's second statement, thinking back to some of the non-fictions she'd read. Maybe it was just her choice od reality, but the book on bats hadn't seemed all that dull. She gave a light shrug, for a second wanting to argue, but then realized the feline was completely correct. She hadn't the foggiest as to her name! "My sincerest apologies," she mewed in an, as stated, apologetic tone. "My name is Kanaya, and you are?" the aforementioned tabby answered.
(( om g that would've been awesomE but tbh ))

"I am Odessa," She said, dipping her head down a bit. "I cannot believe I have never encountered you before now. It's quite difficult for me not to notice people as winsome as yourself."
That last part had came out wrong. She could feel herself burning up from embarrassment, a flustered smile spreading across her face. Hopefully Kanaya would be unable to see her discomposure in her dim glow.

Kanaya could feel herself grow hot beneath her pelt, flustered but complimented. "Thank you," she murmured, almost inaudibly. She shuffled her paws, gaze shifting to the ground. As such, she did not notice the other feline looked just as embarrassed, about as much as she noticed the genuine, gracious smile that had drifted across her own features. She looked up after Odessa spoke again, thoughts shifting momentarily to her name and sounding it out. "I could say the same for you," she mewed appreciatively, unsure if she should say more. Despite Kanayas' interest in novels featuring romance, she'd never been much of a flirt nor especially good with romantics herself.
