the wardens have a long, complicated history. they were founded a very long time ago, in a time of great need. even after that need passed, the wardens continued, preparing for a time that they might be needed again. they first made themselves known in battle, and became quite famous before fading from fame as the danger passed. they nearly vanished several times due to a lack of members, but they always came back when they were needed most.

their reputation is a little wobbly, as the nearby groups only know the wardens by their warden-commander, so it all depends on their reputation. however, the wardens try to maintain a neutral/positive image.

while the wardens don't technically have borders, there are areas where they have a stronger presence. their main camp is located in an abandoned castle that was clearly quite grand when still taken care of. the main areas in the castle are:

[li]the rotunda, two floors that the wardens have repurposed to use as a sort of command center, where the first warden gives speeches and judgement.[/li]
[li]the throne room, where the first warden, the high constable, the chamberlain, and several senior wardens sleep. (being invited to eat here is high praise, being invited to reside here is even higher praise.)[/li]
[li]the library, where records are kept and the chamberlain spends their days.[/li]
[li]the guest rooms, four rooms where all other members reside save for kits and nursing queens.[/li]
[li]the toy room, where nursing queens and kits reside. it is well-defended, with piles of pillows and other things for comfort.[/li]
      [li][/li]

outside of the castle, the wardens have a far reach. while there are a few camps even farther away than this, there are four camps that are relatively close to their main base.

[li]camp one: a two-day's travel from the main castle. this is a medium sized group, with one warden-commander, one warden-constable, four senior wardens, ~ten wardens, and ~five warden-recruits. most of the surrounding area is forest, with a lake a few minutes east of the camp.

      [/li]
[li]camp two: a week's travel from the main camp, this group is rather small but highly skilled, with a skilled warden-commander, one of the older warden-constables, ~six expert senior wardens, and ~three wardens. there are no warden-recruits. this is not an easy place to live, with very little forestry, and a lot of surrounding rock. they have made their camp well fortified in an old quarry, with a small creek a few minutes from camp.

      [/li]
[li]camp three: despite being only three days away from the main camp, this camp is difficult to reach even in good conditions. to the west of the castle is a mountain range, which is where this camp is located. two of the days are spent getting there, and the third is climbing a rather perilous path to the camp. this is where most of the recruits go to train before being shipped to other duties or camps.

      [/li]
[li]camp four: this camp is the farthest away, a two-week journey from the castle. most wardens start here after their recruit stage, though there are very few senior wardens around.

there is not much that binds the wardens aside from their common goal. there is no religion, each member decides their own beliefs, and there is very little tradition aside from the one that they are known for: the joining.

the joining is something that only wardens know about, and are not allowed to share. even warden-recruits are in the dark until they go through the ritual themselves. but, since we aren't actually the characters we play, etc etc, we're allowed to know what's going on (just make your characters surprised okay, this is a secret).

it's simply a ritual that binds wardens together. during the ritual, possible members ingest a typically non-lethal "poison" that can sometimes knock the victim unconscious or cause hallucinations. for the actual dragon age wardens, you can die from this, but we're not going to do this here. oftentimes, wardens will have to deal with nightmares about demons, or (dun dun dun) the archdemon, a really really big dragon.

after the ritual, wardens are fitted with a thick navy blue "collar" (can go on paw, neck, even their tail, they're made to fit), which are decorated at the warden's desire. the three requirements are name, rank (one tally = one rank up), and a roughly drawn griffon, their mascot.[/fancypost]

[hp] first warden: "leader", more of a political figure. they never leave camp.

[li]cain - played by: nobody, he's boring, but warden will use him as a mouthpiece sometimes[/li]

[hp] high constable: second-in-command to the first warden, the public face of the wardens. lead local recruitment.

[shp] chamberlain of the grey: archivist, in charge of keeping the history of the wardens. commanders report to them every six months with what happened recently.

      [li]name - played by[/li]

[hp] commander of the grey (warden-commander): leaders of all local wardens, with very little leadership or guidance under normal circumstances. they can be summoned to camp at any time but spend most of their time in small camps dotted throughout their territory.

[nhp] warden: members who have taken the joining.

      [li]heath - played by: blizz[/li]

[nhp] warden-recruit: members who have not yet taken the joining, or have just recently taken it. they usually stay warden-recruits for only four/five months before being treated as an average member.

hey blizz! thanks! yeah, i'm trying to find one that fits vex and her color scheme but she is a difficult cat to work with.

im not sure if i want it to scroll, but it looks odd without it. i could do side by side but that would make everything narrower and longer and more intimidating. eh, i will have to brainstorm some more. :0

hm... i think it looks really good like you've done it. the only thing i can really think of to shorten it is the line-height, though that also risks making it look more intimidating if you do it too much... um[/size][/fancypost]
