    I pushed out my bottom lip softly as I looked at him. "You're not going to call me a Brat now are you? Because for your information I don't have a head that is too big for my body." I reply with a smile as I look at him. My cheeks turned red when he kissed my cheek a little, but I would be lying if I said that the fangirl inside me didn't start going crazy inside. I always liked him more than as a best friend, but for Chris and I it was impossible, and I was with Jason.

I let her go, making sure she was stable before letting her go. I stood properly, positioning myself so I could see the path more clearly. I knew that was the right way, I just knew.     I was more than a little disappointed that the fun had ended, but I knew that Chris was right. Jason was probably worried sick about me. I cringed at the reminder. Here I was with Chris, having fun, when Jason probably thought I was dead or worse. Yes, there were worse things than being dead. If you were a hunter, you would know. "You're probably right." I admit with a soft sigh as I look at him. I didn't really want to leave but I knew that we needed to. Plus, I didn't want to run into that thing again, whatever it was. "I am trusting your navigation skills here, Chris, 'cause yours are a heck of a lot better than mine are." I say, shifting on my feet so I wasn't so heavy and so I was lighter on my toes just in case something happened. I was immediately tuning into our surroundings. I still felt unnaturally cold though, and to me Chris felt super hot, like he were on fire.

I started walking, hoping I wasn't going too fast for my partner in crime. I looked around, things looking familiar. I just got this feeling we needed to go on this path, but backwards. Go the way her mark wasn't pointing from the tree. I turned back once I made it to the tree, placing my hand on it for stability. "We need to go this way. I just have this feeling...it probably doesn't make sense but we need to go this way. I can feel it in my gut." I felt somewhat uneasy. Should I trust my gut? I took a minute to think. I mean, there wasn't a good explanation to why I was feeling this way. Maybe it was the right way, maybe it wasn't. I don't want to have both of us go separate ways because who knows what could happen. I decided it was a risk I was willing to take, we needed to get out of here. "Whenever you're ready."

    I had to jog here and there to keep up, my heels making me unbalanced as I trip over my feet again an again. I hated tripping. It was definitely not something fun. When Chris stopped, I slowed down as I near him and only catch the last of his words. "I trust your gut. Who knows what we were dealing with. If you think we should go that way then let's go that way." I usually trusted my marks, but when I looked at the mark on the tree it didn't look right. Something about the mar told me that it wasn't mine, but it was made to resemble mine almost exactly. I didn't like it. No. I did not like it at all.

I felt a little slow, going a slower pace for Sky. I looked over my shoulder at her and smiled. "Just tell me if I need to slow down or do anything, if you need it." I couldn't help but blush lightly at the sight of her. I felt apprehensive about going back to our home where Jason is but I knew it was for the best.

    "I will be fine. If you get too fast I will let you know.. Don't worry about me, though. Nothing bad will happen." I knew saying things like that were not always going to be true - not in the line of work that Chris and I did - but I had to reassure him anyways. With Jason I told him straight up I would probably get hurt and I would likely die, but I didn't like telling Chris the obvious. He already knew it and worried over it way to much as it was. "Just keep leading the way." I say as I shiver a little. It was still cold to be, and yet at the same time it was almost a comforting kind of cold, which was odd.

    I kept walking accepting that she would tell me if anything was wrong. I didn't mind her telling me that I needed to slow down. I blushed, thinking how that could be mistaken for something else but I shook it off.


    As I kept up my pace I suddenly got wicked hot. My breathing started to speed along with my heart pace. I stopped, almost feeling dizzy. I didn't know what it felt like. I wanted to run a whole mile, that's what it felt like. I looked up at Sky and wondered if I looked pale or red. "How do I look?" I breathed. I swallowed and sighed greatly. Maybe I needed to stop and rest a minute. I am usually doing something no matter how big or small.

    I reach out to check him over, my hand flinching away after touching his forehead. Maybe it was just because my hand was super cold, but his body temperature was off the roof high."You look like you are a bit pale and burning up. You almost look like you're getting sick, and yet you seem a bit agitated, like you're itching to do something but you're not letting yourself do it." I observed as I watched him for a moment. It was true. He was more pale than usual - I would know I see him all the time - and yet his forehead felt like he would combust at any moment. Plus I knew when Chris got agitated and held himself back from something. He did this thing where he would talk to me or worry about me way more than normal on a hunt when he held himself back. "Just go ahead and do it, Chris. Whatever it is,, You will be fine. I will be fine too."

    [size=7pt]I took a deep breath. "Fine, I'll be right back just-" I stopped and furrowed my eyebrows, "don't move, don't get hurt." I smiled weakly and turned away from her. I felt like I needed to run and if that's what I needed to do, that's what I needed to do. Soon I had only heel turned up and one foot dug in the ground. I was in my typical running posture and I knew Sky knew it too. When I took off I found myself feeling electrified.


    When I stopped and wasn't sure where I was. When I looked back I couldn't see her anymore which alarmed me. I didn't feel like I was running that long. Was I really that fast? I thought back to the feeling of running. The wind, cool, blowing hard at my face. Everything zoomed by like I was the only thing in existence besides the wind. Confused by exactly what happened I decided to run back again, the way I came.


    I stopped, not wanting to end the sensation. I looked and saw Skylar behind me. Maybe I was that fast. I looked down and saw what looked like sparks. Maybe not sparks but almost little embers from a fire. I shrugged it off and walked back towards where she was. Once I was level with her I grinned and laughed almost sarcastically. "That. Felt. Amazing." I couldn't get many words out from my excitement but that soon faded. "You should have felt it! The wind in your face, electricity running through your body as you make your way farther and farther down the path." I knew I looked somewhat like an idiot but didn't care. This was incredible and explainable. How did I move so...fast?

    He was smiling.


    I was staring.


    I found my mouth had dropped open like the typical thing people did in movies but could I help it? No! I just saw - or at least I think I saw - my best friend running faster than anything I have ever seen. Faster than anything. Period. I blinked a few times and realized he had spoken, he had said something... what was it? I knew I had heard him say the words, but it took me a few moments to process them. "I'm sorry. I think I just witnessed my best friend turning into something that rivaled The Flash in the comic books. The only thing I saw was you one minute and the next there was yellow lightning twenty miles away." I was trying to process what had just happened, but I wasn't entirely sure what had really just taken place. It was hard to believe.


    I had to admit, I was a bit scared right now. Who wouldn't be? No. I was not scared of Chris. I would never, ever be scared of Chris. What I was scared of was the monster Chris and I had been hunting - whatever it had been. If Chris got super speed because of that monster, what happened to me? Or how powerful is this monster really? I shivered a bit at the thought and looked at Chris. "C-Can we just go now? Please?" I was never good at being brave when things like this came up. I mean, I was pretty brave; being a hunter you had to be. However, when a hunt went wrong I got scared, and it made me remember my family that I was sure was dead by now. Not many hunters lived long. Not with the life that we are living. "But now that we know you've turned into a superhero, don't go taunting Jason.. we know how mad he would be to find out you're faster than him." I tried to make light, but I was concerned. If anyone found out they would try to hunt him.. I wouldn't let anything happen to Chris.


    Nothing.

    I kept a close eye on Sky, watching every little shift in her expression. She looked troubled and almost scared but with a glimpse of something. I couldn't tell, maybe curiosity. Then she asked to leave, now. I nodded, understanding her urgency. Plus knowing her she was extremely freaked out. She hated this kind of thing. In movies, fine, in real life, terrifying. I turned towards the direction we needed to go and started walking before being taken aback when she mentioned Jason. I felt like my breathing stopped but like my heart was beating out of my chest. As much as I liked Sky and trusted her judgement, Jason, to me, was a real d*ck.




    If Sky ever heard me say that she would kill me, but then I would let her know of my feelings. I don't think it would be worth it. As many times as she says she won't ever, ever, forget me or give up on me sometimes I think if I p*ss her off enough she will. "I know, I won't." I smiled, putting on a veneer. I kept going, walking super slow compared to how I ran earlier. I decided I would let her keep up, not that I wouldn't. I needed to protect her. Anytime, anywhere. I just needed to. All the time.

    I am thankful to be walking again. If I were t have stood there for much longer I probably would die of overthinking. Chris is super fast. I am probably affected too. How though? Did my being extremely cold have anything to do with that? If that thing turned me into some snow princes I was seriously going to kick some .ss because I hate the cold. It is way too cold for me! I have never been one to like the cold and Chris knew that for a fact. "So question. If you can run that fast, walking as slow as me... am I walking too slow for you? Sorry if I am impeding your progress." I apologize a litte, feeling bad. Now that my best friend was super fast, was I just going to be slowing him down everywhere we went? What about Jason? How was he going to handle Jason? We clearly could not tell him. No. That would be disastrous for everyone involved. Chris' secret needs to be kept a secret, as much as I hated keeping secrets from Jason.


    I walk alongside Chris, every step feeling as if I were stepping on knives. I was not about to complain though, because it was clear to me that Chris was probably completely bored with this pace, as I knew a bit about super speed from reading The Flash - even though at the time I thought that sort of ting was impossible unless maybe you counted vampires but even at that.. - so I figured Chris would be feeling about the same thing. How was this going to work out in the end I had no clue, but it would keep him safe when we hunted monsters, so that made me extremely excited and happy in the end. Who would not be happy about it? Chris would be safe. Nothing could hurt him except maybe a demon, but I wasn't sure how that worked exactly.. maybe not a demon... unless it was a crossroads demon maybe.. Anyways, he was safe. For that I was grateful to the monster, although terrified.

    I looked at her and laughed. "Don't beat yourself up over this. Yeah, it's kind of slow, but I'll get used to it. As long as I'm with you, I'm good." I smiled at her and continued to look forward. I still felt strange, not like I needed to run but like I was starting to sweat. Maybe it was because I ran so fast? I shrugged it off, not wanting to linger on it for too long. I don't really want to linger here any longer either...




    I looked at Sky, seeing how she staggered. I furrowed my eyebrows and stopped. "Do you need me to carry you?" I put my hand on her shoulder and looked into her eyes. I hoped I didn't sound creepy or anything so I changed my tone to a little more playful and less caring robot. "You know I'm strong enough, unless you're scared." I could feel something tugging at my heart in my chest. I knew it was my feelings for her. My body was trying to tell me that I liked being playful with her, flirty. I tried not to act that way because that isn't who I am but sometimes I got to let my wall down. Or let one brick fall out of the barricade.

    I stopped when Chris stopped, and I felt myself cursing inwardly that he noticed my unbalanced position and the way I was staggering around while I walked. I had tried to keep myself upright and walking in a straight line, but it clearly wasn't working. "Oh? And is that suppose to mean I can't hold my own?" I tried to sound offended but I was ore amused than anything, and I was dead tired. I felt like I was completely drained and I needed sleep. "That sounds.. like a..." I could feel myself drifting off, and a yawn slipped past my lips. I was really tired and I needed to sleep. Yes, I needed to sleep and rest and let the darkness I was seeing take over. I just wanted to sleep, to rest my eyes and get rid of the stabbing pan in my feet. I wanted to feel Chris' warmth because ,y own body was icy cold and I was shivering. I just needed sleep.
