I let out an annoyed sigh as I paved around the hallway at the hospital, waiting for my father to get out of surgery. I had been worried at first, but his life wasn't in danger and I had found out that he was driving drunk. I know that work had been difficult lately, but I didn't think that he would be so stupid as to drink while driving. I had been pacing for an hour or so and I was beginning to feel hungry, but my wallet was in my car. I stopped pacing and did a full 360 so that I could head towards the exit, but instead I found myself bumping into something tall and firm. I backed away a little so that I look up at the person I had walked into, but I found myself speechless. I was looking into the beautiful blue eyes of a really hot guy. My cheeks turned a light shade of red and my green eyes adverted themselves to the ground."Sorry, I didn't see you there.."I said softly as I glanced up at the boy again. I found myself wondering why he was here at all, he didn't look injured and I don't think he was sick. He looked like any other teenaged boy his age, though he was better looking than any boy I've ever seen before. My eyes did travel to his arms and I took notice of the markings that looked to be from IVs and other medical stuff."I didn't hurt you, did I?"I asked him.

I tilted my head slightly at his words, I was glad that he wasn't upset at me for running into him the way that I did."Really? Why are you escaping?"I asked him. The IV marks on his arm told me that he was a patient, but it was curious to know why he was a patient here. He seemed perfectly healthy, but I suppose looks were deceiving. I remember when my mother first got diagnosed, she didn't look sick at all. This boy could be dying and I wouldn't know just by looking at him."My name is Tara, just in case you were wondering.."I added the last part in a rushed tone. I was silently cursing myself for how stupid I was acting infront of this boy. It's not like I've never talked to a guy before, I've just never talked to attractive guys before. They made me nervous and I always though that I shouldn't waste my time since hot guys never seemed to want and talk to me.

I nodded in agreement."I agree with you, this hospital isn't the most cheerful place in the world."I told him. I had always thought that for a place that is suppose to help people, that it was awfully depressing. I looked at him with a light blush when he took my hand and kissed it, almost like a Prince would do to a princess. I was caught off guard when he suddenly flung his arm around my shoulder, causing me to move closer to him. I could feel the heat from his body radiating off of him and I could also smell him. It was strange, but he smelled like fresh air and water. I actually found that I liked it, but I think that's a little weird. Yeah, it's actually a lot weird. I blushed when he moved his arm off of my shoulder as I shook my head quickly."I understand, I would go crazy too. I'm going crazy just waiting here. My stupid father was drunk driving and he ran into a pole. All he has is a broken leg that needed surgery so I don't feel bad being so upset with him."I muttered as I crossed my arms over my chest."I was just about to go eat, do you wanna come?"I asked him with a small, shy smile on my face.

I nodded as I rubbed the back of my neck."My Mom died from cancer when I was kid, it hit both of us pretty hard. Dad works all the time now and I think that it's starting to get to him."I told him then I felt a smile make it's way to my face when he agreed to come to lunch with me."It's a date then!"I said with a small blush. I shrugged when he apologized for putting his arm around me."I understand, just warn me next time."I told him as I followed after him, noticing that he was heading for a back door. It seems like something that only somebody who has been here for awhile would do."Cooper, what are you sick with?"I asked him curiously."You don't have to answer, I'm just curious."I added quickly. I figure that it was a pretty personal question to ask someone who I just met, but I hoped that the two of us could meet up again. I didn't know Cooper that well, but he already seems pretty cool.

I nodded though I was a little disappointed. I wanted to know more about Cooper so that I could get to know him better. I had this feeling that Cooper was different then other boys, I wouldn't still be here if I didn't feel that he was different and that's what kept getting to me. I chuckled when I saw how he was always looking around, as if somebody was going to jump out and stab him with a fork."You know, if you relaxed and acted normally than you'll get out of here easier."I told him as I walked out the door and smiled at him. I actually hadn't really thought about where I wanted to eat, I had just planned on seeing what was in the hospital cafeteria."Um, how about you choose. I don't care where we go, so you get to decide our fate."I said the last part with a soft smile as I gently tugged on his hand in the the direction of my car.

It was kind of sad to here him say that, but I didn't show any signs that it had saddened me. I just kept walking until we got to my car, a small red slug bug that my father had gotten me for my 16th birthday."Let's pretend that your normal than, that you don't have to come back. For the next hour, your a normal teenage boy."I told him as I unlocked the car and laughed when he told me that he wanted a greasy hamburger. He may not see himself as a normal teenager, but that is such a normal response for a teenage boy. I smiled and nodded to his request."Red Robin it is then."I said and got in, starting the car and putting the heating on. I waited for Cooper to get into the car before I started driving towards Red Robin."And I think that normal is overrated."I added with a small blush on his cheeks.

I rolled my eyes as I looked at him, I could really see that he was happy and I helped to make him happy. It made me happy and it also made my heart pound against my chest."A serial killer? I don't think so, you don't look like one."I told him. I just blushed as he thanked me and shrugged as I kept my eyes on the road."It's no big deal, I don't really have any friends so it's nice to go out with someone."I said. I had kept myself isolated after my mother died, I guess I was scared of getting hurt again. Cooper was different though, I could feel it in my heart. I don't feel this pressure to make him like me and he doesn't want to make me run for the hills, both are very good things. My blush only deepened when he compared us to Bonnie and Clyde. Cooper was hot, but he was also kind of adorable."Weren't they married though?"I asked him as I grinned. The restaurant was only ten minutes away so it didn't take us long to get here."I don't know why you were in the hospital, but is there anything that could kill you? Like, if you eat lettuce or something. I don't want you to get sick or anything."I told him as I looked over him worriedly. That's all I really was, I was worried. Cooper was already wiggling his way into my heart.

I just smirked as I looked at him with a playful grin."So we're lovers?"I asked him before he told me that he was actually allergic to me. I rolled my eyes as I parked the car and took the key out of the ignition."Really? I suggest a test then."I told him as I gently reached over and placed my hand on his cheek. I left my hand on there before I pulled it away from his cheek and looked down at my lap. I then gave him a small smile."Good, I wouldn't want to die in public. That would look very bad for me."I told him as I got out. We hadn't known each other for that long, but we were already messing around with each other as if we were best friends. I wouldn't mind Cooper being my best friend, he sweet and funny. He wasn't the type of guy that I thought would ever hang out with me. I'm not special or anything, I'm just Tara. Nothing more, nothing less.

I laughed at his antics and shook my head as I smiled at him."Your such a goof..."I told him with a smile on my face. I rolled my eyes when he suddenly stopped his little act when he noticed the Red Robin logo and now, his mind was on food. I followed him as he walked to the door and held it open for me. I looked at him for a moment before I quickly kissed his cheek with a blush on mine before walking into the building. Cooper had been so nice to me when he didn't have to be, he could have just used me as a scapegoat. He was actually being nice to me and seemed to enjoy being with me."This is fun, we could do it again sometime. I get a little lonely sometime and your the first guy that had ever wanted to hang out with me..."I said softly as I looked down at the ground. I went to the hostess and she escorted us to a small booth. I sat down and started to look over the menu."Order anything you like, I'm paying.."

(how about once they start eating, Cooper's chemo kicks in and he starts to get violently sick?)
