[color=white]Maplestar sat in front of her den, her eyes closed. She breathed in the chilly air, thinking things over in her head. Grief filled her heart but she knew she had to pick a new deputy- and soon. She took in another breath, wrapping her tail around her paws. Im not going to be around much longer... I need to pick one today.... before Sun high....

Darkdust padded out of the warriors den, stretching his hind legs. I hate getting up early... He thought with a growl. His gaze traveled to the low fresh-kill pile. I guess Ill go on that patrol... He padded to the middle of the camp, his tail flicking back and forth.

Cardinalsong began sorting herbs, going through her store in her mind. "Dock, juniper berries, going low on borage, marigold, cobwebs…" she meowed aloud, then smiled. "Okay…just need more borage." She meowed then exited her den, looking around for a warrior to bring with her. Spotting Darkdust, she walked over. "Hey Darkdust, want to come with me to fetch some herbs?" Cardinalsong mewed, looking at the warrior.

Darkdust huffed out a sigh. "Sure... why not..." He muttered, giving off his lazy attitude. "I can hunt as we head out... and come back.." He said with a happier tone. He stretched his front legs before heading to the tunnel of the camp, knowing that the Medicine Cat had to lead the way.

Maplestar opened her eyes slowly, watching the warrior and the clan's Medicine Cat. No... He's not the right one.... He's a good warrior but he can not be a leader... Her eyes traveled to look for other cats in the clearing..

Dune sniffed along the bank of a really fast body of water.Being from the desert,She had no clue what it was,but She saw plenty of rocks to cross with.She started crossing, but upon reaching the middle,She discovered the distance to the next rock was too big for her!The sandy fox kit was stuck.

"Thanks!" Cardinalsong meowed and waked ahead of the warrior, tail swishing. "The plant isn't too far away…" she meowed again, scenting the familar plant. She picked up the pace, she needed to loosen up. Soon, she broke into a run. Then, she den something she never thought she would see in her life. A fix, stick in the middle of a river. Tail bushing, Cardinalsong stopped in her tracks.

Darkdust padded after the she-cat, ears priced for any type of trouble. As he noticed Cardinalsong pick up the pace, ending in a run, he did as well, muttering curses under his breath. "Its way to early for this..." He grumbled loudly to the Medicine Cat.

"Shhh!" Cardinalsong shushed the warrior, her fur now bristled. "Look." She whispered, pointing to the fox with her head. "A Fox." She muttered, Unsheating her claws. Even though Cardinalsong was a medicine cat, being in a rouge pack helped her learn how to fight. Ears flattening, her tail lashed.

Darkdust turned, seeing the small fox. He tilt his head to one side, moving his gaze up and down the fox. "Its just a small one... Looks like a kit... and plus.." He studied the fox, crouching down as it spoke to them. "... I can understand.. it..?" He trailed off as he hesitantly padded forward, coming to the bank of the river. ".... You need... help?" he asked, confusion in his voice.

Cardinalsong jut stood there, utterly confused. A fox? Asking for help?" She thought, eyes widening. Snapping out of it, she walked forward, dipped her paws into the water, then dived it. "I'll get you out!" Cardinalsong meowed, nearing the fox. Climbing up into the rock, she looked at the fox. "Okay, get into the water, I'll help you across." Cardinalsong meowed again, her hind legs slicing through the water.

"In a rouge pack, you learn a lot." Cardinalsong meowed to the Tom, but didn't take her eyes off the fox. "It's okay, I'll help you across!" She meowed again, scrabbling up to the foxes side. "As a young cat, I helped a ct over twice my size across a river, you'll be no challenge." Cardinalsong Meowed again, then gently put one of the foxes paws In the water. "See? It won't hurt you."

Realizing that this fox probably didn't know what a river was, Cardinalsong chuckled. "This is a river." She meowed, gesturing to it with her paw. "It's basically a long line of water." She meowed again, diving back in. "Come on, it's easy!" Cardinalsong smiled.

Getting an idea, Cardinalsong ears perked up with happiness. "Just pretend the water is a bed of sand!" She mewed, looking at the fox. "Just...really REALLY wet sand." She mused.
