Evan swallowed as he padded up to the black pharaoh. He felt uneasy about this, but he was discovering that things were bad in the living world, and he still had this horrible hurting in his body, like there was something horribly wrong with him. It made him terribly sick to think about it, and everything was tainted. When he looked at the sky, when he saw the heavens, he couldn't help but think that he wasn't supposed to be here. It was somehow wrong to him.
So he was here before her. "Okay old lady. Tell me what you know." He said. She had begun, but it didn't mean anything, it only made it more confusing. "Teach me about what's going on, what needs to be done." He couldn't even begin to know.
Anuva gazed at him. "If you mean this, Evangelical Nightmare, you must come with me, come away from here, so I can instruct you beyond prying eyes and the sensational senses of your clanmates."
"Bu-but...." Evan's maw opened.
She smacked him across the face, her short claws raking across his cheek, little droplets of blood falling. "Do you want this or not? It's your choice, but you best know it. Are you too scared or stupid to come with me? Little boy, you will know and do what we want some day. If you want it to be on your own terms, you will come with me now. You have asked and this is your chance." Anuva replied, her teeth barred at the tiger cub.
Evan thought about what she'd said about Honeypaw, about all the other people who died, about how they got hurt and how everyone fought and how horrible it was. If he got more powerful, he could make everything better. He could bring back the people who hurt or were in trouble. No one he cared about would have to suffer. "I want to come." He said quietly. His face hurt.
"Good." The black dog replied crisply. "Let's go." She said tightly, turning carefully as she padded away, the child falling a little as he stumbled after her, a little bit of blood getting in his eyes, harming his vision. It hurt, and he didn't think he felt that way before.
There were only their faint scents lingering behind, and a few droplets of Evan's blood. The trail went cold some distance to the north when they had crossed a wide stream.
