    It was a warm summer day and Scarlett was driving in her car. It had been two years since the apocalypse had started. She had lost people, but she always had her trusty dog at her side. They where joined at the hip. He was like her child.


    Scar walked down the road not straying far from her car. She couldn't leave her car or at least go very far from it. It was her only hope for survival. It had all she need in it. She grabbed her orange pack back out of the back seat. It had a couple of essentials in it, such as water, wire, arrows, food, but healthy food, and an almost empty first aid kit. The brown haired girl open the passenger side of her car and a Pitty jumped out. "Come on, Zeus." She muttered. Her Zeus was quiet most of the time. He knew the deal, but he's a whole lot of help.


    Scar walked toward a small corner store. She slowly creeped inside and looked around. She toke out her compound bow, one of her most loved weapons. That and her axe are the best two weapons she had. There were silent and guns were to over powered and attracted to much attention. She looked around and shot a zombie in the head that happened to be roaming the isles of the store. She looked at Zeus he looked antsy. "What's wrong, boy?" Scarlett asked quietly. He lets out a tiny whimper and she looked around. She could tell the different kinds of things he sensed. There was a human close by.

    Maxx crouched down behind the counter, his breath shallow. He could hear distinct foot steps, along with faster, shorter ones. Maxx held his modern revolver harder than needed as he tried to stay as quiet as possible. He wasn't this scared around the zombies that roamed their now apocalyptic world, but people were a whole other thing. Most people were smart, cunning and survivalists. Three combinations that together would one day be the end of Maxx.


    He finally decided that there was a person and a dog. If he was careful, he would be able to get the person through stealth. But, he wasn't sure how he was going to get the dog. He could always just try to get out without being seen by either, but he doubted he could sneak past a dog, especially with such a nose.


    His options were dwindling and his heart rate was increasing. Maxx looked around the counter, taking quick glances everywhere his eyes could. From the corner of his eye, he saw a tail. He gulped before - as quietly as he could - coming out from behind the counter in a crouching position. He made his way through the numerous isles, keeping his eyes peeled for anyone and anything.

He barked and she quickly faced him. "Zeus, be quiet." She said as she shook her head slightly. She made a sweep of the store first. She wanted to make sure there weren't any no-brains around. That's what she called the zombies; no-brains.


    Zeus paced the isles. He growled every once in a while when he thought he caught a whiff of something. Scar shook her head slightly. She knew something was up with Zeus, there was something around, or someone. She didn't like people, she thought most of them were weak. She also didn't trust people. No-brains they were predictable, people where a whole other story.


    She couldn't find any no-brains as she finished her sweep. She followed after Zeus. "Buddy, what is it?" The dark haired girl muttered. She said as she pulled out an arrow and notched it in her bow. "Who's there?" She finally called out, if it was a no-brain she could easy take them down.[/fancypost]

    [size=7pt]Maxx watched as the girl and dog passed through his line of vision. He could tell that the dog and girl were close, just from the way she was speaking to it, and knew he would have to play dirty.




    His stealth kicking in as he turned a corner, staying in the two's blind spot. Maxx then got as close to the animal as possible. Before he himself knew what he was doing, he grabbed the animals legs and held them together, forcing the dog's body to cover his chest.




    Maxx looked up at the girl, trying to keep cool. He knew how to keep his calm around things, even if he didn't feel it. "Okay, I am going to give you one of two choices." He eyes the girl, wrapping one arm around the squirming dog and the other holds up a gun to the dogs head. "One. Slowly walk out of that door and down the road and wait for 2 minutes before coming back for your dog." He pauses for a moment, "Or two. I will kill this dog and then you."[/size]

That dog was the only thing she had left. She held her bow tightly, the arrow still notched. She was ready to shot him.


    Zeus was growling, barking wildly. He was trashing trying to get away. He barked loudly. Scar looked at the guy in front of her. "He's just going to attract more of those things." She said. "Let him go and he won't attack, then we'll leave." She said as she slowly put her bow on the ground, her hands were raised.


    "Just let him go." She said as she looked at her dog. Scarlett kept her hands raised as she stared at Zeus, who was still barking wildly.

"I don't care about the d*mn chompers coming. Just pick, number one...or number two." He deadpanned, watching her bow and arrow hit the ground. "Kick the bow this way." His eyes zeroed in on her. His gun is still pressed against the dogs wiggling temple.[/size]

She had a plan formulating in her mind as she stood there. She kicked the bow across the floor toward him. She looked at the exit behind him. "Look, I'll go with the first one. I'm just going to walk past you." She said


    She looked at Zeus. She slowly started to walk around him. She stood in the doors of the exit. She pulled out her pistol, which wasn't loaded and quickly turned around and held it to the back of his head. "Now, let my dog go." She said firmly.

Maxx then swept his leg towards her, forcing her to the ground. He gripped the dog's scruff while pinning the girl to the ground with his forearm pressed against her neck and his legs holding down hers. Her gun had flew across the floor as he raised the dog in the air by it's neck skin. "1...or 2?" He repeated with venom.[/size]

She watched her gun go skidding across the floor. She groaned slightly. She looked up at him and started to cry softly. "Just do it. Just kill me." She said as she closed her. "You'll be doing me a favor. Just shoot me head so I don't become one of those things." Scar said.


    She had tears rolling down her cheeks by now. Zeus was still barking like crazy, but none of the no-brains seemed to care, or none were around.

    "My name is Scar." She said as she looked up at him. She then looked over at Zeus. He hadn't stopped barking. She heard growling and it wasn't from Zeus. "If you aren't going to kill me, than let me up." She said.

His arm tensed as he heard the chompers feet hit the concrete of the store's floor. From the shuffling, he determined there was about 3 to 4 chompers heading their way, all moaning and groaning and being annoying as usual. Maxx could easily handle more than 5 chompers at a time, but keeping a dog and a capable girl hostage at the same time? He wasn't so sure.[/size]

He quickly raised his gun and zeroed in on the 4 chompers. Some were still at the door while 1 was horribly close. He shot the closest one right through the head, it dropping right onto him. Maxx grumbled as it's rotten blood seeped into his clothes. He managed to push the guy off before killing the next 3, not having to reload once.




    Maxx stood up, annoyed since he had just looted these clothes. His eyes scanned the dead, all of them losing blood through their heads. He turned to the girl on the ground, the dog growling at him.[/size]
