  • Aril walked slowly down a small street, his breath visible because of the cold that surrounded him. He gripped his knife tightly, feeling his heart beat begin to race. "Calm down, Aril.." he muttered to himself. "There has to be more.... I'm not the only one who hasn't been captured...." he looked down at his beloved partner. "What do you think, Fang?" He asked as they came to a cross-street . "Which way?"

The dog's tail wagged, his breath showing just like Aril's. He was trained not to bark...

Aril looked back up and turned to the right, walking at the same pace he was before , his companion following him.

  • Lily grabbed her worn out backpack, and swung into her back. "Ok, I got all my stuff together," she said with a small smile, turning to face the make behind her. They had camped out in an abandoned building, and luckily they hadn't been captured. They were currently on their way to New York.

Ezra nodded, his backpack already on his back. "Alright. Stay close," He said, pushing open the door. He glanced around, before walking out.

  • Aril sighed. Its about a month before we are supposed to meet... he thought to himself. I just found the note not a week ago.... "Okay Fang..." he said, pulling his back-pack up more securely on his shoulder. "We should start heading there... We are in Michigan...".

    Fang's tail continued to wag.

    "Lets go..."

  • The pair walked down the cracked streets, neither one of them saying a word. They had made it to Michigan a while ago, but it had taken them longer than they expected.

"Hey Ezra.." Lily said, her eyes not leaving the road in front of them. "You don't think that note was for some kind of trap, do you?"

Ezra glanced at the female, his expression not changing. He simply shrugged. "Who knows..." He muttered.

  • Aril rounded a corner, looking up at the half destroyed or missing buildings. "Do you remember when they were standing high Fang?" He asked, not expecting an answer. He looked down at his dog, not expecting to see the dog not looking back up at him.

Fang was crouching low, his ears pricked. He was looking down the street to the left of Aril. Aril could tell that the street split in two at the end of it, letting you go right or left.

Aril slowly made his was down the street, coming to where it split in two. Fang flicked his tail, ears pricked to the street that headed off to the right. "Fang.. Tin Hut..." He muttered, pressing the button on the side of his knife, making it extend.

Fang instantly crouched low, a growl rumbling in his throat.

  • Ezra stopped dead in his tracks, once he spotted the male in the distance. It looked as if he had a weapon, which worried him. He put a hand on Lily's shoulder, as if to warn her.

Lily stopped walking, her eyes now full of worry. She slowly pulled out her weapons, as did Ezra.

  • Aril squinted his eyes. H...Humans? he shook his head violently, looking once more. He began to walk towards them, not going to fast, with Fang following, still at the ready. Im being ridiculous... Those cant be... He drew closer, his grip tightening around his sword. They have... weapons... Aril slowly came to a stop, now about fifty feet away from the two humans.

  • Ezra's eyes slowly began to widened as the make became closer. It soon became clear to him that he was.. A human.

Ezra slowly lowered his gun, and began to walk towards him. Lily followed Ezra, but didn't lower her weapons.

  • Aril slowly brought his sword down. "H...Humans..?" He mumbled as they drew closer.

Fang was still in his attack stance, waiting for his master to give word.

  • Ezra simply nodded, and pointed at him. "Are you human?" He asked, narrowing his eyes slightly. Beside him stood Lily, who then began to put her weapons away. She seemed convinced that they were human, but Ezra couldn't be sure.

  • Aril nodded in return. "I am..." He said, clearing his throat and lifting his chin slightly, making himself escape the trance. "Fang... Relax.." He ordered, glancing down at his dog.

Fang instantly sat down, out of his ready. He lolled his tongue and wagged his tail at the knew comers.

  • Hearing his answer, Ezra walked closer.

Once a few feet away, he felt awkward in a way. He honestly didn't think that he would meet any others on his journey.

"Where are you headed?" Ezra asked, all business. Lily shot him a small glare. She was the kind of girl who liked to get to know people, and Ezra was clearly the exact opposite.

  • "New York." Aril answered, meeting his gaze. He pushed the small button on the handle of his weapon, contracting it into a knife. He slid it into its holster. "I found a note on an abandoned home telling all who found it to meet in New York City."

  • Ezra raised an eyebrow, a surprised look on his face. "You found a note too? Lily and I found a note saying the same thing on the ground," Ezra explained.

Lily's bright blue eye widened, and she began to grin. "We should travel together! This could mean that there are others heading to New York!" She exclaimed.

  • Aril nodded. "Im guessing they are spread out ... " He muttered, glancing over at Lily. He shrugged. "I dont see why we shouldnt travel together...." He announced, moving his eyes to Fang. "Fang would probably enjoy the extra company..." He mumbled to himself.

    Fang's tail hadnt stopped wagging.

  • Ezra and Lily nodded at the same time, silently agreeing they would do so.

"We should probably get moving then. Time is precious," Ezra muttered, turning away. He began to walk once more, earning yet another glare from Lily.

"S-Sorry about him... He just.. Wants to get there soon..." Lily muttered, glancing at Fang. She smiled, and kneeled down to pet him.

  • Fang brought his muzzle up, licking Lily's arm with a pink tongue.

Aril shrugged. "Its fine... I want to as well..." He said in a friendly tone. "Oh, and, Im Aril by the way.." He gestured to the dog she was petting. "And, you already know, thats Fang."

  • Lily smiled, and looked up at Aril. "I'm Lily. And that's Ezra," she said pointing to the male, who was still walking away. "We should hurry and get going, before he ditches us," Lily said, standing up.

  • Lily began to walk, but jogged so that she could catch up with Ezra. "How far do you think we'll get before nightfall?" She asked,

    Ezra shrugged.

Lily let out a sigh, not getting the answer she wanted.
