PERSONALITY; Meet Ayato: the Scavengers' resident pissy, sexually-awkward emo kid. Okay that may be a bit much, but still.}

_{The first thing one may notice about Ayato is his prickly exterior. He has mastered the art of the resting b-tch face, and has a glare that can kill. He isn't the most social person out there, and prefers his own company (or the company of rodents) over other humans. Ayato can be incredibly irritable, especially when someone offers to help him with something he thinks he can do alone, his ego is pretty sensitive. This is the result of a bit of an inferiority complex, he feels as if he constantly needs to be proving himself, and feels like everyone else thinks they're better than he is. People who are close to him know that because of this, he is completely determined to make himself better, and always puts in 100% in everything he does. Ayato prefers not to get close to anyone, but when he does, he will remain loyal to the very end. He takes promises very seriously, if he makes one, he'll be dam-ed sure that he keeps it.}

_{Though he's prickly, Ayato is pretty coolheaded and rational. He's capable of keeping calm and clearheaded in stressful situations where another might panic. This young man tends to pay attention to small details, he's surprisingly organized and notices a lot of small things that a lot of might people skim over. Despite his no-nonsense nature, Ayato isn't a stick-in-the-mud. He's rather fond of burglary and often gives himself challenges as to how much he can steal without getting caught. He isn't much one for practical jokes, though, he finds them immature and lacking a certain subtlety that he prefers. There are certain occasions where this is not true, though. There are times where he turns into a total adrenaline-junkie and goes all out with idiotic behavior, though this isn't very often. It was mentioned before that Ayato was more of a coolheaded and rational type. This is mostly true, but if you push the right buttons, use someone close to him, Ayato be convinced to make stupid decisions. He can be biased and will make decisions based on how he feels about it rather than with facts.}

_{One thing that should be taken note of is Ayato's addiction to both caffeine and sugar. It's scary how much coffee he puts into his body at once, and it's even scarier to see what he becomes when he doesn't have any. Though considering his sleeping habits, the amount of caffeine it takes to keep him running isnt all that surprising. Ayato gets very little sleep at night, and when he does, it's restless and uncomfortable. This is due to the frequent nightscares and sleepwalking habits he's had since childhood. Believe it or not, Ayato is a magnet for soft, cute animals. He holds a special place in his heart for fluffy things and there is a 75% that he is carrying something in his jacket at any given time.}

- he's nimble and quick on his feet, something that can come in handy

- Ayato is inexperienced so he doesn't excel in combat or most things

HISTORY; Ayato, known as Kaoru back then, spent most of his childhood with his older sister and father. Tooru, his father, was a young single dad, his girlfriend deciding not to stick around and ditching him with her two year old daughter and 1 year old son. It was difficult to keep up with everything, trying to maintain a steady job while also singlehandedly raising two young children. They moved around a lot, usually staying in motels and tiny apartments, never staying in one place for more than 3 months.</sub>

_{But they were sort of happy, just the three of them sticking together. Ayami and Kaoru were inseparable, them being eachothers' only playmates and her being the only one he could sleep soundly with. Their father tried his best to make a good life for his children and it was almost working out.}

_{Until their dad went MIA. He just seemed to disappear out of thin air, one day he left for work and then he just never came back. What a jerk. Ayami and Kaoru were left on the streets, 10 and 9 years old. They did what they could, mostly stealing or scamming for money. Things ran rather smoothly, actually, they lived like that for about 6 years.}

_{And then came the boyfriend, ugh. Ayami was sixteen when she started dating this dude, a member of the Imperial Guard. Kaoru never really saw much of the guy, his sister would always sneak away and do God knows what. It kind of pissed him off, him and Ayami were always partners in crime, he felt like he was pushed to the side by some hoity-toity Palace Guard. But she was happy, so Kaoru suffered in silence. B-tchy silence, but silence.}

_{So apparently the guy dumped her. It was to be expected, I mean, Ayami was only a stray living in an alley with her little brother, and he was a well-off, handsome teenager training to be in the Royal Guard. But she took it really badly, slipping into depression. Ayami formed a dependence on alcohol and spent most of her days sleeping, Kaoru ending up having to work double-time to take care of her. He started to spite her, why was she getting so worked up over this breakup? Was Kaoru not good enough for her to love? She wasn't the awesome sister who took care of him when he was younger. She was somebody else.}

_{Just five months after the breakup, Ayami died. She wandered onto the traintracks in a drunken haze and got hit by an incoming train. In a state of grieving rage, Kaoru decided to kill the bastard who ruined his sister. He tracked him down, and jumped him with a knife. Unfortunately, more guards came and he wasn't able to do as much damage as he intended, hopefully he left some nasty scars, though.}

_{As expected, Kaoru was exiled and lived in the woods for a couple of days before The Scavengers took him in about a month ago. He renamed himself Ayato in honor of his foolish sister, Ayami, and jerk of a dad, Tooru.}
