  • Vandros smiled slightly awkwardly. He was trying to get a grip on himself when every instinct he had was screaming at him to kiss her. Van could think of a hundred reasons why not to... their age difference above all others. He didn't want the young female caught up in a scandal.

Damian smiled when Raine kissed him again, kissing her sweetly back, then sighed and nodded at her words.

"Alright..." he said softly, loathed to let go of her hand, but doing so. "I'll see you later then..."

  • Annika sighed silently and then took another step back. She knew he was fighting with himself and didn't know how to reassure him that it was ok.

"See you soon, love." Raine said with a loving smile. She then walked out of the room and to her own. She quickly got changed into her ceremony dress and did her hair. Once Raine was all set she grabbed some herbs and went to her grandfather's room. She took a deep breath and knocked on his door.

Kole and Ivory soon got to Caius's coven hall. He then quickly entered drawing Ivory in with him.

  • OOC:

Would someone please explain to me (not that it really matters) how I manage to get my charries into these situations...? :P Seattle, Carlisle, Alexi, Van, Damian... all have large age-gaps between them and their significant other/lover/potential partner... is this a premonition to my own married life...? :P :P :P

    IC:

Damian nodded with a smile, his eyes dark.

"See you later, Raine." he said softly as the door closed.

    Vandros frowned and sighed softly.

"I'm sorry... " he apologies. "I seem to have made things awkward...it's just that- "

He turned as he heard the quiet snap of the door.

    "It seems Raine has left."

One of the servants hurried through the coven hall and finally found Caius and Eli. He quickly whispered something to the coven head, and Caius nodded, dismissing the male. He turned to Eli.

"It seems your son has arrived." he said quietly. "Shall we go meet him?"

  • OOC: I never really said how old Annika was. She's almost 500 years old.

    IC:

Raine held her breath and opened the door to her grandfather's room. She then entered silently. Her long gown swishing slightly as she moved. Raine's eyes went to her grandfather as she walked over to his bed.

Annika smiled reassuringly and said, "I-it's o-okay." She then looked at the door and sighed.

Eli nodded and said, "Let's go."

  • OOC:

Van is still older. He is the same age as Damian's father, Lysander, would be, which is about 800. :P

    IC:

Markus was lying on his bed with his eyes closed. He opened them sharply when he felt another presence. He hadn't even heard Raine knock!

"What are you doing here, Raine?" he asked, a little gruffly.

He was annoyed that he had been so out of it that he had potentially put himself at risk. Had it been any but Raine, he was sure he would be dead.

Vandros sighed. He knew that he was being unfair to Annika. But he had lost his family once before. He didn't think he could live through doing so a second time. But they couldn't continue in this vein... it was cruel. To both of them. He knew what he had to do.

"No, it's not..." he said softly. "When we get to the coven hall, Anni... I would like to speak to you, if I may?"

Caius nodded and lead the way to where Kole was.

  • "I came to check on you. You may hate my parents and brother, but I'm the only family you have right now." Raine said as she took the cup on the bedside table. She then put the herbs into the drink and mixed it. "Here drink this it'll help with the pain." She said as she sat on the edge of the bed. Holding out the cup she watched her grandfather silently.

Annika nodded and said, "Okay Van."

Kole saw Caius and his father walking up to him.

Eli knew his son had questions, but he didn't know what to tell him.

  • Vandros smiled softly and nodded at Annika.

"Well, then, shall we go rejoin his royal highness?" he asked with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.

Damian had flopped down on the couch with a soft groan and closed his eyes as he waited for Vandros and Annika to rejoin him.

Markus regarded Raine with cold, narrowed eyes, then took the cu with a sigh. he was silent as he drank from the up.

"In all honesty, I'm surprised you're even willing to help me. he murmured quietly. "Given everything I've done... to both your family... and that boy's... you should hate me enough to plot my demise."

Caius watched Eli out of the corner of his eye as they walked to wards Kole and Ivory. He wondered what the hybrid would tell his son.

  • Annika nodded and opened the door.

"You maybe an ass, but you're still family and the only thing I have left of my mother." Raine said pointedly.

Eli sighed and said, "I know you have many questions and I'll try to answer them."

Kole looked at him and said, "Later right now I'm more worried about my pack."

  • At his granddaughter calling him an ass, Markus' blue eyes flashed in anger and he glared coldly at Raine, meeting the pointed look on her face. The glare slowly melted into a sad expression, which became a smile and finally a soft chuckle.

"Oh, you are most definitely your mother's trueborn daughter." he murmured. "Only she would ever have dared say that to me."

    Caius nodded.

"Your pack mates are this way, Kole." he told the young Alpha, leading him to one of the larger rooms of the infirmary.. "Those who weren't too badly hurt have been moved to spare rooms upstairs, the same with the Grimaldi coven. However, I'm afraid a few of them have passed on from their wounds."

  • "I just want you to know that you cannot control me. I need to be able to do things on my own and I need you to trust me." Raine said and then smiled gently. "Tonight you'll need your strength because your coven may not accept me. The herbs will give you that strength."

"I figured as much. That fight was bad. I'm also sorry for your loss." Kole said.

  • Carin lay in one of the beds in the infirmary, a wound in her neck that would have killed her, had she not been a lycan, slowly healing.

Caius looked down at the young girl and the many other werewolves that lay in worst states aound the room. He then nodded to Kole as he accepted his condolences on the loss of vampire lives.

"Thank you." Caius said softly. "Hopefully my grandson is not one of the casualties... but I'll only know tonight, probably after the ceremony... which leads me to an important topic. Kole... there's something you need to know about your sister..."

He looked at Eli to explain further.

    Markus sighed softly.

"I'm too used to controlling everyone and thing within the walls of my coven hall." he said softly. "I also haven't trusted another person in a very long time..."

He then uttered words so soft it was almost inaudible.

"No wonder Maria rebelled and left the Hall... I truly am a fool..."

  • Kole looked at his father and frowned worriedly.

Eli took a deep breath then told him the truth.

"Grandfather, I will always be here if you need me. I also know that you are really sick. And before you get angry no one told me. I figured it out on my own. That is one of the reasons I agreed to stay. You need family now more then ever." Raine spoke softly as she gently took his hand.

  • Markus' eyes widened slightly as Raine said she had figured out he wasn't as well as he made out to be. His blue eyes softened slightly as his granddaughter took his hand and he gently squeezed it.

"You are as perceptive as your grandmother..." he said softly. "She would've loved you... and I don't deserve family around me... not after everything I have done, to your family... And Caius'."

Caius watched quietly as father and son spoke.

  • "Everyone needs family no matter what they've done." Raine said with a soft smile. She then sighed and said, "Grandfather promise you'll keep an open mind and stay calm, although I know that you'll be angry at me."

"I see. So that means I'll never see her again." Kole stated.

"I'm sure you'll be able to see her." Eli said.

  • Damian looked up as Annika and Vandros entered the common area of the room they were in. He sighed and Van raised an eyebrow.

"You're not a simmering thundercloud, so I take it things went well...?"

"As well as they're going to get." Damian mumbled quietly.

Markus' blue eyes never left Raine's eyes. He had a feeling he wasn't going to like what the girl had to say, but he was willing to hear her out.

"Alright." he said softly, suddenly clutching his chest as pain wracked his body.

    Caius nodded.

"Yes, I'm sure your sister has managed to get Markus to agree to let her see you again." he agreed. Hopefully she will be able to bring my old friend back before it's too late...

  • Annika looked at Damian and said, "I'm glad that you and Raine are still friends."

Raine watched her grandfather worriedly. "Grandfather?" She said slightly panicked.

"I hope so." Kole said and then smiled at Ivory as she tried to cheer him up.
