  • Shadestar coolly looked down on his clanmates, and he saw Lynxpaw chowing down on a fish. He angrily stalked toward her as she took another bite of fish. "Lynxpaw, what is that?"
The she-cat stared up at him with a mouthful of the prey. "Catfish." She said, and swallowing the mass of flesh. The second she bent her head down to take another mouthful, he swiped a paw out and knocked it aside.
"Hunt first. Then you eat." The leader said, picking up the fish and taking it for his own. "I've already caught a shrew and two squirrels. Get back out there."
Lynxpaw furiously rose to her paws and turned, exiting from the clearing out the hole in the door. She jumped into the icy water and immediately sensed the movement of fish beneath her. Her head dove under the surface and snapped her jaws down. It was nothing impressive, just merely a sunfish. She then swam above water and tossed the fish to the side, only to dive down again. Suddenly, she felt a mass hit the back of her skull and the air was knocked out of her. Oh HauntedClan!! The light around her began to fade and she yowled as loud as she could.

  • Flamingpaw sat beside his brother, Midnightpaw and exhaled. Bored, the apprentice laid down and rested his head on his paws. "So....bored," the ginger tom grunted and his ears twitched.
Midnightpaw icy gaze landed on his brother, "Bored, eh?" He let out a soft chuckle. "Good for you." He make a silly face at Flamingpaw, "Ooo, look, I'm my brother...!!!" At this, bursted out in laughter. Soon, his brother joined along, laughing. "Y'know, we're a purdy good team."
"Like purdy suppose ta' be a word." Flaming's laughter died down as he meowed.

  • Shadestar saw the apprentices talking together, and began to think about their training. Mentors were on short supply, and he loathed the thought of taking an apprentice. Perhaps a group training session would be better. It would also be a bit more competitive. "Flamingpaw, which warrior or Spook up do you think is the best for mentoring?"

Lynxpaw frantically flailed, until her head reached the surface. She gasped for air, coughing as the water left her lungs. She weakly swam over to the shore and pulled herself up, falling on the grass.

  • Swanfeather had long ago slipped into the house. From her jaws hung a mouse and a bird, along with a plump squirrel. Usually, the white feline would've gone fishing, but decided not to. Laying down her catches, except the bird, she quickled trotted off. The fur on the back of her head and on her neck was spiked up like thorns, from all the running and climbing she had done. But now, that didn't matter to her.
The only thing that mattered to her now was that she was going to eat. And so she began feasting.

Ghostfrost was sitting in camp, his black tail impaitently lashing back and forth in boredom. Lifting his head to look up at the ceiling, he silently observed the various cracks. Old house, he thought.

Needleheart flattened her ears as her brother spoke to her. She was in one of her moods again, unable to control it.
"Needleheart, I'm only offering you a squirrel. I didn't poison it, and you accepting it does not mean that I think you are weak, because you're not. I just thought it would be nice for us to talk and share a meal together," he said with a tone of exasperation. "I can hunt on my own, I don't need your help," she snapped. Taintedthorn let out a sigh and picked up his prey, taking it inside to eat in the old house. He found a spot in the hallway and sat down. He felt comfortable eating his squirrel alone, it wasn't unusual.

  • "Huh?" Flamingpaw turned toward his leader. "Sorry- Hmmm..." He pondered about all the warriors, their personality and appearances. It was quite hard, speaking of which he didn't know any of them any well. "Let's see....Midnightpaw, you do you think?" He questioned his brother, who was also gazing at Shadestar.
"Me? I'd choose...Taintedthorn, sure he's a little quiet and all, but my first impression says he's an OK cat." Midnightpaw mewed, sounding as if he had thrown high vocab out there.
Flaming rolled his shoulders into what seemed like a shrug. "Eh. He's alright. Personally, I choose...you." He shifted his gaze to the leader, his face growing hot from embarrassment, "Sure, you're not a Spook up or warrior, but you seem alright." He then flattened his ears, faintly smiling.

  • Shadestar gave a sly smile. He was flattered by the young apprentice's choice of him, but he was also somewhat disappointed for he had a slight paranoia of those who kissed-up to him. "Taintedtalon will be the mentor of all Apprentices." He turned to tell the warrior but paused, looking back at Flamingpaw. "Wonderful choice, though."

Lynxpaw came into camp, her fur dripping water, and a flopping fish hanging from her mouth. She padded to Needleheart after seeing the possible quarrel about to break out between brother and sister. She dropped the fish with sort of a negative attitude to it. That's what almost drowning did to you. "Please, take my Sunfish."

Taintedthorn's ears perked up at the sound of his name. He narrowed his eyes in curiousity, dropping his mostly-eaten squirrel on the floor in front of him. The tom stood up, picking up his prey and disposing of its carcass. He would usually avoid speaking to Shadestar, but he was driven by curiousity and made his way up to the tom. "Is there something you need me for?" he questioned, standing a few tail-lengths back from his leader.

  • Swanfeather's ears perked at Shadestar's mew. And curiously, she slipped over to the three. "One cat, mentor of all these cats? He'll most likely be worked to death!" Instantly dropping to her stomach slightly, the she-cat crossed her paws before her, her white tail lazily sweeping over the floor behind her. Blue gaze flickering up to her leader's face, she cocked her head and gave a question look on her face. As Taintedthorn came up, she gave him a brief look.

  • Flamingpaw let out a small chuckle and nodded his head in respect. "You're welcome, my friend." Then he turned back to his brother, "Taintedthorn it is." The ginger apprentice wrapped his tail around his brother, "Whatcha wanna do now?" He tilted his head with curiousity.
Midnightpaw gazed into his brother blue eyes. "Honestly, I dunno. Oh and 'Whatcha' and 'wanna' isn't a real word, eh?" He joked, his eyes lighting up.
Flamingpaw meowed, "And 'dunno' isn't either." Once more, they both bursted into laughter, smiling cheerfully.

Taintedthorn had caught on slightly to what was going on. "Am I to mentor ALL apprentices?" he remarked, with a slight scoff of humour. "I'd love to teach a cat, three isn't too bad, but it's a little unnecessary. Of course my sister will not be in the running for mentoring, due to her...issues. We do have enough warriors to mentor all apprentices, so I don't understand your reasons," he said cautiously, trying not to appear as if opposing his leader.

  • Flamingpaw rolled his shoulders and his brother and him focused their attention to Taintedthorn. Both then shrugged, Midnightpaw opened his mouth to respond, "Well, when you put it that way, its a little off...." Flaming eyes drifted to Lynxpaw. "Mrs. Negative, you ok?"

Needleheart padded to the edge of the lake, just outside the house. She looked at her reflection and swiped at the water. She didn't want to be like this, so different. She wanted control over her emotions, but it wasn't something that could be helped. Maybe Taintedthorn was just trying to be nice. What are you saying? You know he just thinks you can't do anything for yourself. I don't want his pity! Her tail lashed back and forth as she argued with herself in her head.

  • Shadestar looked at the warrior, and he said, calming him. "You're the mentor of them. You don't have to get close to them, just teach them the basics. It's like a troop. Your troop of eager, high-energy apprentices." The leader said with his eyes showing that he was amused. "According to one of the apprentices, you're the best warrior. And if you do an outstanding job I'll give you the title of Spook." He leaned toward Taintedthorn's ear and whispered "Or perhaps the Heir." He sat back appearing intrigued at the tom.

Lynxpaw smiled a tiny smile. "I have a reason, I almost drowned." She shook her fur sending spray everywhere. "What's up with you two?" She asked sitting down next to Flamingpaw, and looking inquiringly at Midnightpaw.

He became tense as his leader moved closer to him. He swallowed after hearing what he had to say. "Right, of course. I'll get to work with them," he said briskly. He turned to the apprentices. "Let me introduce myself, although I see some of you already know who I am. I'm Taintedthorn, and for now I believe I am your mentor. May you please me with all of your names?" he asked. Taintedthorn wasn't intrigued by the offer his leaser had made, he was just following orders, knowing his Shadestar could have a temper and he wasn't prepared to get on his bad side.

  • "Nothing much," Flamingpaw meowed, tapping his tail on the ground, his dreamy blue eyes fixed on the she-cat. He smiled, "It's good you're alright." Saying this, he sound like an adult.
Midnightpaw butted in, "He means: "'I love you, Lynxpaw!'" Midnight laughed with a spurt of amusement. Flaming scowled at him, before returning his gaze to the new mentor, Taintedthorn. "Name's Flamingpaw." He gave a curt nod to the tom, quickly glancing at Lynxpaw then back again. Midnightpaw looked as though he wanted to tackle the guy. "Hi, Taintedthorn," Midnight mewed acting cool. At this, Flamingpaw wanted to burst into laughter, so he just bit his lip. "My name is Midnightpaw."

  • Burningthorn had been out in the forest and was content to stay there. He didn't like the house-- not that he was scared of it. He just wasn't a fan of cramped spaces. He vaguely considered bringing his catch back. He didn't want to, but he also didn't want to forget it out here. Reluctantly the Tom scooped the large rabbit into his jaws and started making his way towards camp.

Mudstripe spurred to herself as she bounded down from the attics. Dusty cobwebs were strewn haphazardly on her ears, tail, and back but she barely noticed. Some had stuck to her paws and desintigrated as she moved so fast it was like appearing out of nowhere. She skidded to a halt in the mass. "Hrry grrrrys!" (Hey guys!) she spoke past the wad of fresh cobwebs she'd collected. "Lrrk whrrt rrr frrrrnd!" (Look what I found!)

  • Flamingpaw eyed the she-cat with cobwebs. "Cobwebs...I see." Flamingpaw and Midnightpaw exchanged glances, holding their breath so would burst into laughter. Midnightpaw lean closer, "Did you get these from the attic?" The black tabby questioned, his ears perked sightly.
Flamingpaw muttered something to Lynxpaw, "The attic..sounds...nice." The apprentice called to his brother, "Midnight, if you want cobwebs stuck to you, you can stay there!" He let out a small chuckle, his eyes lighting up with happiness.

  • Mudstripe turned her attention to the apprentices, having not directed her excitement at anyone in particular. She set them down on her paws to keep them from getting dirty... And so she could actually be understood. "Yeah! I was exploring up in the attic, because noooooo one ever goes up there, and so I just started clearing the Dusty ones because spiders need room for webs that work, and then I found some of these! Plus we'll have a supply if we need it forming there right now!" she was glad someone else seemed interested in what she'd found.

  • "Cool!!" Midnightpaw then scowled in Flamingpaw's direction. "I heard that." Glancing back at Mudstripe, he smiled, "How are you?" He eyed Flamingpaw as he said so.
Flamingpaw tilted his head, "What?!" He then covered a paw over his snout, and leaned towards Lynxpaw, "I think he hates me," He snickered, wrapping his tail around her. "Despite Midnight's and mine appearance, we make a better good time. Joking wise." He then look her in the eye, "Tell me about yourself, fellow apprentice."
