We can skip ahead to Sam and Rei being "normal" people within society. It might be kind of interesting to write this situation. XD
-
Sure thing.
-
Sorry about all that confusion. XD
It was a cold afternoon. Rei fixed the loose beanie on her head. Even though it was a bit strange, she tucked all of her hair within the hat, her ears well concealed beneath the gray and blue fabric.
Sorry, rushed~
-
That's fine.
Sam's features were slightly harder to hide, because her whole face had been changed, but with a grey hoodie she managed to keep that fact concealed most of the time. As the two walked down the street, Sam indicated a bank to their right. "That's the target," she whispered. "Cash only. After this hit, we can get a plane back up to where we first met. You go back to the forest, I get back to my family."
-
Rei said nothing, looking down at the ground. She couldn't remember anyone in her past. Not that she ever felt like going after a family if she even had one, but it would be nice to know.
"... I think they expect us to do that. Especially you, Sam." -
Sam hesitated, then shrugged. "I guess so." She said no more. When they got up to the bank, Sam slipped in, hoping Rei was following. She quickly barred the door and pulled out a pistol. There was a lone security guard in a nearby corner, and she shot him in the leg and the arm. "Nobody move," she commanded coldly.
-
Rei sighed, but followed, a pistol suddenly in her grasp. She raised it up to the lone woman behind the counter. "It would be best for both of us if you get what we need."
Waiting two seconds as the women hesitated, Rei shot at her, purposely missing enough that there was just a graze on the woman's neck. She cried, eyes wide, before shakily turning away and reaching for the cash deposit behind her. -
Sam walked over to the guard and pulled his pistol, pocketing it. She turned and fired a warning shot at a man scrambling for the door. The guy cried out and scrambled away. "Got the money?" she asked Rei.
-
Rei used a cut open pocket in the back of her sweatshirt to tuck the money in, giving the woman a sympathetic nod before heading to the door.
"Let's go." -
Sam nodded. She pocketed her gun and followed Rei out, barring the door from the outside as they left. Thankfully, the building's thick walls ensured that no one on the outside had heard them rob the place, and the two resumed their walk once more.
-
Rei glanced from side to side nonchalantly. "Fine. You can do whatever. But I think I'm going to stay in a city. I don't want to be alone anymore."
-
Sam nodded. "Okay. I'll stay with you for a bit. We're better off together for now."
-
Rei said nothing, turning into an alleyway. She found them easier to travel in. And, by the amount of people she saw passing through, there wasn't too much suspicious about going through it herself.
"I also don't need to the money. Take what you want." -
Sam smiled thankfully. "That's nice of you. I might-" suddenly, she paused. "Soldiers," she whispered. "Both ends of the alley." Her eyes widened in terror. "A woman is giving them orders...it's Zoe."
-
Rei froze, fear striking her hard and fast. No... they couldn't go back. The couldn't!
The familiar form in a white lab coat shoved past the soldiers. Zoe extended her arms, a wild smile on her face. "Rei! Sam!" She approached them swiftly, and there was only warmth in her expression and tone. Rei softened slightly, remembering who this was and how she treated her, but forced it away. Zoe was bad. And she should be avoided at all costs. Before Zoe could wrap her arms around Rei, she backed up instantly. A dozen safeties clicked off in response.
-
Sam pulled her pistol and aimed it straight at Zoe. "Get the hell away from us," she growled. "We're not going back."
-
Zoe's smile flickered, uncertainty rising in her excited eyes. "Oh, but certainly not! You two are my experime-" There was a loud gunshot, and Zoe fell to the ground. Almost instantly afterwards, a horrible pain hit Rei's calf muscle, and she cried out, falling to her knees. The pistol clattered on the ground, smoke still emanating from its muzzle.
-
Sam whirled. "Rei!" she cried out, firing at the man who had shot her friend. As far as she could tell, neither Zoe nor Rei had been killed. Immediately, she hauled the scientist to her feet and put an arm around her throat, pressing the pistol to her head. "Get back or I'll kill her!" she cried.
-
There was hesitation; a fleeting silence. Rei noticed something in the corner of her eye. A door leading into one of the buildings was open, just the tiniest bit. A single eye looked out at them, giving Rei a sincere look that meant "follow." But she couldn't let Sam know without ddrawing attention to her sudden, rather hopeless plan.
Zoe struggled against Sam's grasp. "Sam!" She yelled. "This not a drill! You need to drop the act! Now!"
