Oscar had moved a it to the side and avoided the staff. "Yeah, dude, don't worry. I'm fine. And, no thanks, whatever your name is," he said to Marth and then Cassie.

Cassie recoiled her hand back before looking at Raven. "Do you want it?" She asked her softly. She was starting to feel bad, but she wouldn't show it.
-
OOC:
IC: Marth calmed down and looked down out of embarrassment...he honestly was wishing this wouldn't be the norm on this Quest or else he'd be the laughing stock of the entire camp. He looked over at Raven, waiting to see who'd take charge. To be honest, he half expected Holly to respond in anger that Cassie had forgotten to ask if she wanted to take charge.

[i]Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore.
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
Quoth the raven, 'Nevermore.'

Raven looked at it. "Surprising, but sure. I'll see what I can do. You'll want to hold onto the map after we get started though. I have a tendency to react suddenly." She said, not wanting to say what she could do, if these people didn't know. "You can lead right along with me though. Don't want to take all of the glory." She said, smiling brightly, and taking the map, memorizing it like a blueprint. Wasn't hard, but wasn't easy, as she was slightly directionally challenged. "By the way, for those who don't know, I'm Raven, the child of Hephaestus of the group." She said, waving, before looking back down at the map, and began walking towards the gate of the camp, ready to get started.

Ooc~ Heh, I would think Holly would only get annoyed in this sort of situation if the person chosen gets something cool whilst she does not. ;p
Holly had been rather preoccupied with watching the exchange between Marth and Oscar to bother with anything else. It had only been a couple minutes, barely even progressed with the quest, and already someone had nearly received a solid thump to the head. It did not help improve what little trust she had for this odd band of campers. She tuned into the conversation between the two girls just in time to get the gist of what they were going on about. Taking the lead was something she often opted out of. It was far better to be the person who lagged behind the team; there was no pressure with making the wrong decisions as one, but you still get a chance to stand out.
Nonetheless, she couldn't but feel all the more irked that she was not the first person who was asked.
As Raven began to walk off, Holly faced Cassie, brows furrowed and a deeper frown on her face." Not that I'm complaining or anything, but why didn't you ask me if I wanted to be in charge?" -
OOC: lol
IC: Marth stood back and watched the girls' conversation, he worried Holly would get into an argument with Cassie. He hoped Holly wouldn't try a popularity vote to lead. Although, he doubted it, she seemed pretty smart, she wouldn't try that yet, considering not everyone knew her well enough. Thus, he tried speaking up
"Um..Guys, its getting dark, we need to get moving, we don't want to waste time, and guaranteed that monsters will be on our trail before the moon rises...uh...just saying... And Holly, do you really want to lead, someone as pretty as you should take it easy, you don't want to get any wrinkles on that face now, right?" he said, with a smile and laugh, hoping the flattering comment would stem any further discussion, he knew he'd pay the price for calling her pretty later, but he'd deal with it then. -
Holly tilted he head as if considering it. She had planned on making a commotion simply out of spite, not because of a desire to lead. But marth had viable reasons; the longer they squabbled here, the longer it would take to get to whereever they were going, and holly needed her beauty sleep- she didn't want to spend the entire night awake. Eyebags were as horrid as wrinkles, dark blue bruises under your eyes as if you had half a blackeye. It was not a nice sight. Her fingertips brushed along her cheek, her nose scrunching up in disgust," ew wrinkles," she exclaimed, though she quickly lapsed back into grumpiness." what ever, I didnt want to be-" she made finger quotations, " in charge anyway. I'll keep this face wrinkle free, since you think its pretty as it is, wouldn't want my admirers to go away."
-
Raven rolled her eyes, catching the conversation, but didn't stop. She didn't have a problem with going all night. She quite frequently did things just to keep herself busy and awake, as her dreams were just a horrid as her past. She actually quite liked the night, and though it could bring monsters, the thrill of the fight could keep her up for longer than most things. Even if that Aphrodite girl threw a fit, she wasn't quite the person to put up with it. She couldn't deal with it, as, in her opinion, prissy girls were only helpful for making life hard.

OOC:
IC: Marth sighed to himself, on the outside he followed, lagging behind the group, he was feeling restless and he figured he could keep an eye out from the back. He twisted the staff and out clicked the sharp, thick, spear-like ends, however he quickly twist them back into hiding, his staff looked less threatening and it would lower his adversaries' defense until it was too late. However, he pushed down his thoughts and watched, listening to the conversations in the groups, thinking he might learn something about them.
-
Cassie opened her mouth to answer Holly's question when Marth butted in. She listened patiently, though slightly annoyed about being interrupted. As she heard, she started to understand what he was saying a process it. She shot him a grateful glance when Holly succumbed and withdrew her "vote" to be leader. She made a mental note to thank Marth later and apologize. "Alright, we should move faster if we want to reach the first check point by nightfall. I would say it's going to take about two hours or so to get there now." She looked at everyone, so used to being in charge that she took the assumed position effortlessly.
-
Raven nodded. "I'll see what I can do about lighting if it gets too dark." She said, her amber eyes flaring with light due to an unseen fire slightly, before dying down to their normal glint. She gave to map back to Cassie, having memorized it, and began a quicker walk, her long legs carrying her swiftly towards their destination. She fiddled with her slave ring that, when the chain connecting the ring to the bracelet was broken, formed her weapon. She wasn't too keen on letting others know much about her various accessories or abilities yet, like how the flower, normally black, flared to the same color as her eyes when her fire powers were in use.
-
Holly took on a relaxed posture, thumbs hooked beneath the straps of her backpack. Her pace was quick enough to be near the front, though, give or take an hour or so, she would eventually lag behind. But as of this moment, her steps matched the rest of the group. In the dying sunlight, Holly could have sworn Raven's eyes emanated a soft glow. She rubbed her eyes, skeptical of what she had witnessed, and pushed the ridiculous assumption away." Oh fun, lots of trekking ahead. Maybe we'll get to run into some friends," she muttered. Greek monsters could never be considered buddies; they were more likely to pummel you than gossip. Her gaze glanced down to her hilt, the sword nudging against her right leg with each step. At least she had a weapon to defend herself if certain circumstances arose.
-
"Haha, you're funny." She said to Holly, laughing dryly. "Good to know Aphrodite's have a sense of humor." She added, smiling, remembering her few run in's with the children of the cabin of beauty. It really hadn't ended to well, as she was normally on her way to clean herself up after an explosion or training.

OOC:
IC: Marth wasn't a child of Zeus, and he didn't need to be to sense the sparks that were already flying between people. Usually he didn't notice these things, but keeping quiet did have its advantages. He wished he was a bit more usefull to the group, all he could do was fight. He laughed to himself over the girls' dry and sarcastic exchange and decided he might as well relax a tiny bit. He walked next to Raven and greeted her with a nod and a lopsided smile "Nice to see you again, looks like your my superior for this quest," he said jokingly," hopefully you'll have time to talk to little ol' me." he said in a low sarcastic whisper.
-
"What did you expect, Beauty Queen? I mean, I'd love a peaceful limo ride to our destination and all, but life isn't that easy," Oscar said, moving next to Holly to speak with her, but also pickpocket her to see what she had. He was confident he would be able to manage this, since he had done it so many times with so many other people. Oscar felt what he thought was lip balm.
Oscare turned to the rest of the group. "So... Where exactly are we going? If you already said where, I wasn't paying attention." -
OOC: Sorry I've been gone guys! I've been more than a tad busy with school as well as other things. I probably won't be able to get on tomorrow night, and I'm not sure about Saturday night, but I should be on Sunday for sure. :) Thanks guys and let's try to stay on the same page with this rp. We are currently walking in the forest towards our first destination, and I'm sorry if this sounds like it's directed at you Safe; I just realized how it may sound, and it is basically night now, so it's dark. So yeah! Alright, back to the rp!
IC: Cassie walked towards the back of the group because she already knew where they were going, and she had put Raven in charge. Now she could sit back and relax without any worries. Well okay, maybe a few worries. Like how many of them could fight well and what were their special talents that had gotten them picked for this quest in the first place? Who could swim and who knew how to kill every monster, besides her? How would they get home if they got lost and what if someone died? I can't just give up. It will never be that easy. She looked down at the map again, at the location they were heading to at a snails pace: Franklin Square, NY. As they walked, Cassie made sure to listen for any possible signs of danger and anything out of place. There was nothing.
Yet.
Cassie caught up to Marth nearby in the small band of half-bloods. "Hey. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that I snapped at you earlier. And thanks for...saving me from" *swallow* "having to continue that conversation with Holly." She looked down at the ground, keeping her voice low so that the others wouldn't hear her apology. She was too full of pride for that.
-
Raven smiled at Marth as he caught up with her, and let Cassie say her share to him. She was used to being over-looked and this whole leadership role, while appreciated, was a new area for her. "Don't worry about me. I'm not really the whole, first one chosen to be a leader type, so it's new territory. I should be able to not screw it up too badly, though. Besides, it's nice to have a friendly face in the group. I think you're the only one I've really talked to out of all the people here." She said quietly to Marth, smiling while looking ahead. She noticed the growing darkness, and the shift of the temperature, growing colder, didn't phase her. It never did. "If we need to stop for any reason other than you need your, Quote, beauty sleep, un quote, then let me know." She said, raising her voice slightly so that everyone could hear. She was glad to have Cassie with them. She seemed reliable, and smart, easing her nerves, and an Ares kid was good to have in fights, even if he ever was unable to fight, his knowledge of fighting would help. She wasn't too sure about the others. 'I guess we'll find out when the need arises.' She thought to herself.
-
ooc~ aw, that's okay, I can wait!
Completely oblivious to what Oscar was doing, she nodded, refraining from sighing. If only they could hire a taxi or something to get them around. It would save a lot of time, and stop her shoes from getting tainted with mud and dust. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, and kicked at a stray pinecone as she passed it, sending it rolling into a bush. "Geez, sleep is like the last thing on my mind right now, " she said, pretty certain that Raven had been implying her. Holly rubbed the goosebumps peppering her arms. Hopefully no bugs had gotten the idea of crawling into her hair or clinging to her clothes, she shivered in disgust at that. Honestly, why couldn't they be walking through a mall than a forest?

OOC:
IC: Marth's heart immediately lifted and he felt a huge relief of weight at Cassie's apology, he returned the apologies with a smile. He continued talking to them then, looked over at Oscar, he should get to talk to him, considering he was one of the only guys on the quest. For now, however, he continued talking to Raven and Cassie. " So, what's our first goal to get to? And, if I may be so bold," he quirked his eyebrows at Raven when he made the comment and chuckled " as to ask why we are going there?"
