Lionkit stayed where he was, letting his tail twitch, ignoring what his mother was saying. He didn't feel like listening to what she had to say right now.

"Perk up," said Moonlightring. "It's a gorgeous day and you can go play anywhere out in camp you want to."
-
"No, it boring out here." Lionkit meowed back, as he looked around, bored.

becoming who we areBeakpaw had heard the kits and his mentor from inside the den, especially when Lionkit had tried to make the detour. He padded out slowly now, a small confused frown on his face. It was the look he most often gave. His default if you will.
And then he caught sight of her, and it gave way to a slight 'o' curvature of the lips, as if Beakpaw had forgotten how to operate his facial muscles. He needed to get it together, and fast. Moving forward, he gave a hard swallow as the rest of his lanky body weaved from the den.
"Ello guys," the medicine cat apprentice mewed softly, looking at Lioinkit, then Moonlightring, and then down at the ground.
-
Moonlightring ignored her son's whining this time. "Hi Beakpaw. How's the den? Are things bad in there? I could take a little time if you need it."
-
He was there again. Mischievousness flooded through her as she noticed his biggest weakness. He was silly to think their duel had ended so rapidly, and yet here he was not even aware that she was stalking him. Rounding her mother she charged at the tom. Happiness gleaming in her eyes as she flew through the air aiming directly for his head.
-
Ignitedkitlooked at Beakpaw with wide eyes. Why had he been in that den. Wasn't it dangerous! "You hurt?" he meowed to Beakpaw not realizing his question might not make sense to the apprentice.
-
Shadow'skiss padded out, blinking slightly against the sudden brightness. Sure, she couldn't see, but she could still tell the difference between light and dark "Hello everyone." She said, giving a sudden cough and making a face. "Ugh."

becoming who we are"No, it's fine in the Medicine Den," he answered quickly, eyes still running over his paws as they typically did whenever he looked down. Even after all this time living with them, they were still something that caught his eye and made him think twice about his future, however certain it may have seemed. "Not too busy, and you taught me so much..."
And what was this about being hurt? Was the kit referring to his paws? No, not everything had to be about his damn paws... but why else would the kit be asking him if he was hurt?
"Uhm... I was born like this. It doesn't hurt..."
He held up a paw to demonstrate, but let out a quick gasp when he felt her presence so close to him. It had snuck up on him just as she had-- with a clumsy, determined grace. And then she had latched onto his head and he was practically hyperventilating and backing up and up before falling over on his own clumsy paws.
-
Ignitedkit usually stayed right next to Moonlightring but his eyes filled with worry at what was happening. He crossed the short distance to the apprentice and reached out a tiny black and white paw towards Beakpaw. He didn't know what to do. "Your hurt! You shouldn't have gone in there. My mommy said so," he scolded.
That den must be really horribly dangerous if this is what it did to cats. He was never going to go there no matter what!
-
Lionkit joined in with his brother, "Yeah, mommy said it was bad." he meowed, still not going beside his mother though.
-
Moonlightring laughed. "Beakpaw is a big cat. He can go in there because he's old enough and I taught him about all the plants and things. When you are all big, then you can also go in there."
-
"That's not fair!" Lionkit complained, his tail that had once stopped twitching, was twitching again.
-
Moonlightring looked at her son, "Yell at me or complain one more time today and you're going straight to bed. Lots of things in life aren't fair. I do what I have to to keep you guys safe. You have all day to play as you please throughout the camp. And you have a body free of any joint pain to do it in. I wonder if you have any idea how much I'd give to be where you are now, even for a day. Now you go play, and behave or it's time out for you, young tom."
-
Ignightedkit looked scared. When he was older he could go in there. But it was dangerous. Even when he was older he decided he didn't want to go in. "Do I have to go in there when I'm older?" he asked quietly to no one in particular.
-
Flossdrop walked by the family gave a small purr. "Their cute Moonlighting. No, little one you don't have to, unless you need one of them." she meowed gently.
Lionkit stretched, and stayed quiet but he didn't go play he just sat where he was.
-
"Need who?" Ignitedkit meowed. He didn't realize what the medicine den was or what it was used for. As far as he knew the medicine den was bad and he'd never go there.
-
"If you need a medicine cat." Flossdrop meowed gently to the kit. She loved kits, she has had two litter of kits of her own, her second litter has been an apprentice for a bit now. She missed being a mother with young kits again. "Their cute Moonlighting, I miss having young kits of my own again."
-
Ignitedkit just nodded. He was determined to still never go in there though for any reason.
-
"Yeah they're sure adorable. No, Ignitedkit, you do not have to ever go in there if you don't want to." Moonlightring knew that would change if he was hurt, but if he was hurt, that'd be the least of his concerns.
