White lips, pale face
Breathing in snowflakes
Burnt lungs, sour taste
The snow-colored fae craned her neck to glance back over her shoulder, drawing in a deep breath before she was turning back around to face ahead of her. The wind blew through her pelt, causing a shiver to run down her spine as her dainty paws brought her closer to the border of.. well, home. The only home that the alabaster feline had ever known.
Light's gone, day's end
Struggling to pay rent
Long nights, strange men
She was tired from her journey. Her paws were beyond sore and she just felt like collapsing, yet Kestrel stayed standing. She kept standing because after walking all this way, she refused to simply give up. "Hello?" Was the one word to tumble out of the girl's lips, a bit of her British accent clinging to that single, five letter word.
And they say
She's in the Class A Team
Stuck in her daydream
Been this way since eighteen
She seriously doubted anyone she knew was here. Her parents, she knew, were long gone. Darcy and Rubyrocket. Kestrel had always been a daddy's girl, and at this point, somewhat regretted it. Her mom was gone and she didn't ever get the chance to say I love you before that time, and she regretted that, her heart sinking in her chest just thinking about it.
But lately her face seems
Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries
And they scream
And Swanny. Swanny, Puffin.. None of them would be here anymore. Kes felt tears coming on, yet she blinked them away, forcing a sweet smile up onto her maw. Kesty was a happy girl. She had everything she ever wanted for so long, and of course that was going to fade away. Nothing lasted forever, she knew that, yet it still hurt.
Yet the hurt had become a dull throb.
The worst things in life come free to us
'Cause we're just under the upper hand
Composing herself, the charming fae allowed herself to speak up once more, remembering what the loners had said. Remembering what she had heard. Name and business. Okay, mind as well get that part over with before anyone asked. "My name's Kestrel.. Kestrel Arial. And I'm here to join." Maybe she'd recognize someone, yet that hope was becoming lost.
