    The soldiers took Yui in readily enough, though they had little experience with children. When Masami left the apprehensive troops, she would meet up with Kelsier and the others back in the dungeon as they had planned.

    Masami soon returned without the child and looked at the group, basically her family in her eyes now. She stood quietly, ready for the order to go or not.


    Kaz stayed quiet as well, yet her gaze fell upon Kelsier once again. Though she wasn't sure why she kept looking at him, she just did.

    Masami took a place beside Lugo before she nudged him with her elbow "Am I crazy or did Kelsier..just blush?"" she had a questioning tone in her voice. She had mistrusted her own judgement ever since George when it came to things she found 'unlikely to ever happen' and that just happened to be one of them in her opinion.


    Kaz however hadn't noticed the blush, and thought she may have weirded him out so her gaze fell back to the ground as she began walking. He hadn't said anything, which in a way comforted her since he hadn't spoken or questioned why she had her gaze on him. She was honestly hoping he hadn't noticed and just turned away to get going on the mission.

    Lugo smiled widely. "Yep. He's got the love fever bad. Kaz, too." He seemed to be enjoying himself very much. "Ah, the tragedy. Two love birds, both thinking the other doesn't even notice them. Hopefully, you and me will be able to nudge them together, eh?" he elbowed Masami and winked.

    Masami chuckled "Maybe, maybe. Though, Kazueko seems like the type to be shy about a subject like that, and Kelsier..dunno how he feels about that type of subject. Think we could actually get them close like that?" she looked at the older man, a huge grin of her own plastered on her face.

    Lugo nodded eagerly. "Oh, yeah. They don't call me the love doctor for nothing." Notably, he didn't say who 'they' were. Just as he finished speaking, the group emerged onto the twelfth floor.


    This floor was extremely different from all the previous ones at first glance. The town the emerged into seemed to be set at the bottom of a gigantic mineshaft. NPC miners chiseled away at rock up and down the cliff faces that surrounded the dirty little village on all sides. The only apparent way out of the town was a narrow staircase cut into the side of one of the cliff faces. "Heathcliff should have been here already," Kelsier muttered, suspicion evident in his voice.

    Masami just raised an eyebrow as they entered the next level "Alright then, love doctor, let's see what you can do." she gave him basically an evil look, not evil in an actual sense, but..well, devious, more of a 'I wanna see what you can actually do' type of look then anything.


    Kaz didn't hear Kelsiers words but she felt the tension in the air rise, proving that something wasn't quite right. She kept her gaze fixed on the ground, wondering if the tension and suspicion was pointed at something worth feeling those things at or not.

    Suddenly, an explosion detonated just over the top of the cliff face. A body sailed through the air and plummeted to the ground, landing with a thud. Fortunately, fall damage in the game wasn't that bad, so whoever fell survived. Lugo immediately took off, rushing to help the fallen person. "Wait! It might be a trap!" Kelsier called out, chasing after him.

    Masami raced after them "Kelsier could be right, don't rush in there so fast!" she yelled, a pleading sound in her tone. She didn't want anything bad to happen to the group, not when they had just got up here. Looks like it was a bit to late for that hope though.


    Kazueko finally snapped out of her thoughts and shot after the others. Stick near them. Fight with them, by their sides. And everything will be okay.

    The fallen person was the girl Lugo had promised to protect. The big man knelt by her, cradling her like a small child. "H-Heath...cliff," the girl muttered, before falling unconscious. Kelsier looked up as more sounds of battle echoed from up above. "Lugo, stay here with the girl. Masami, you're with him. Kazueko with me." then he sprinted for the stone stairway.

    Masami nodded and stood by Lugo, drawing her sword in case any enemies decided to try to come down after the young healer. Protect. was the only thing running across her mind then.


    Kaz nodded and ran after him. Despite not being the best fighter, she would do her best. She wouldn't let anything happen to her friends..to Kelsier. She couldn't allow that.

    Kelsier took the steps two at a time, trying to get to the top to save anyone possible. But what he saw as he emerged on top chilled his blood. Heathcliff's party...was attacking Heathcliff!

    Kazueko was right behind him and she skidded to a halt about two inches behind him. The sight shocked her as well "What..that doesn't make any sense.." she muttered as if saying it to herself. Confusion overwhelmed her. More player killers? That many? Was it even possible, could it be? So many questions raced through her head and she suddenly felt as if she wasn't even looking at people. She felt like she was looking at animals falling onto a piece of prey. it was disturbing and bone-chilling. Almost like something you would see in a horror movie or a slasher film. It was just...troubling to see at all, only fueling the reason to not trust anyone or anything really.


    Heathcliff was of course attempting to defend himself. Did they know his secret? Is that why they were attacking him? No. Impossible. He had been so careful to hide that he was the reason they were trapped, that he was Kayaba. there was just no chance they could find out so soon, and no one had beat the game yet!

    "Die, you b@stard!" one of the soldiers screamed, hefting his sword above his head to cut down at Heathcliff. Suddnely, however, Kelsier was there, stabbing the man through the stomach with his rapier. The player dropped his sword and vanished in a cloud of sparks. Dead. Just like that. Kelsier had killed him without even blinking.

    Kaz felt her heart plummet into her stomach like a cold stone when Kelsier went to defend Heathcliff and killed a player. Her mind flashed back to when Merin had died and Kelsier had been hurt, then to the memory of her killing George and him comforting her with a hug. But something here..just wasn't right. She tried to call his name but no sound would come out, and she couldn't move..she was just frozen in place.


    Heathcliff looked at Kelsier and gave a curt nod of thanks. What a fool..

    Suddenly, the crowd of attackers halted, as if by some silent command. The group parted to allow a figure to walk through their midst. "Well, well, well. What have we here?" the young man asked, a maniacal smile plastered on his face. "Bet you neve r expected to see me again, did you?" Geroge turned to Kazueko and gave a theatrical bow.

    Kazuekos breath stopped in her throat at the sight of him. "How.." was what she managed to say. She had put a sword through him in the dungeon..she had seen the blue sparks..how was this possible..? Had she killed an illusion and killed an innocent person? She just..didn't know. And the longer she thought about it the worse it got to her.

    "I know, right? It surprised me, too," George said, smirking. "One minute, I'm stabbed through the heart, and the next I wake up in some kind of nether world. I floated there for hours, until suddenly a voice spoke to me, seeming to come from everywhere. It said my work wasn't done, that I needed to remain to destroy Aincrad." He chuckled. "And here I thought that little girl was the only computer program trying to break this place up."

    "Then why are you here now?" Kazuekos eyes narrowed, completely ignoring the fact he had said 'his work wasn't done' and brought Yui up. Is he trying to kill Heathcliff to? Like everyone else?
