• "I was lucky little Flarekit wanted me to be his mentor. Because it brought me back to you again. And that was just coincidence I reckon but I'm so glad he did now." Then, when he licked her on the head, she purred and attempted to nuzzle him, grateful for his company when she was going through what she was. "I'm sorry if I'm being irritating or anything, by the way..."

  • He tilted his head. indeed, it had been a coincidence that Flarekit had asked Wingspan to become his mentor. He didn't remember pushing the young tom to do so... In fact, he had never pushed him into doing something as he had always wanted to make him live his own life... Only to become one cat in the end. Flare was there all the time, as was he. But he was definitely the one talking, seeing Flare was seemingly only there with memories.

"I'm glad too, although it sounds like Starclan wanted me and you to meet again" he meowed with a faint smile, guessing Starclan had something to do with it. Yeah, that had to be it. Shaking his head as she talked, he knew she was wrong. "You're not irritating. You're being yourself, one of the reasons why I get along with you" he added with a faint smile before flicking his tail, dismissing that discussion. She wasn't annoying. At all.

  • "I know I say this every time, but doesn't it annoy you when I'm always talking to you when I'm sad? If I were you, I'd feel a bit annoyed..." Then she sighed, because deep down, she wouldn't. She was too nice to be. Just like Cinderpelt. The two were very alike actually, it seemed now. Both had been through so much heartbreak...

  • He smiled, green eyes sparkling slightly. "My only 'skill' as a high position all those moons ago, was the fact that I was able to keep listening without getting irritated" he replied calmly, a faint smile on his maw as he stood up again. He had been hurt so much already, that others pain didn't really bother him in such way that he got irritated of it. No, he could place himself in their position, know what they were going through and then react to that. However, Wingspan was different. They were quite the same, so it was like him talking to himself... Which made him even calmer.

Because he already knew which things could possibly happen. What could be mentioned. Maybe he was meant to meet Nebulaheart moons ago so he could get to know Wing better...? As in, a friend? A friend she could rely on every time?

  • "Cinderpelt, don't put yourself down like that. Please. You're so much better than you say you are, I swear to you. Everyone thinks so. So should you." Then she nodded. "Honestly. I'm not lying."

  • He shrugged once, not really sure if it was true. He had abandoned them after all... If only his children could think the same way, but they hated him. Or at least most of them did. Anyway, he guessed that he had been sort of kind. And maybe other things too, but he certainly hadn't been as good as Gravelstar had been back then. She had been pretty much the best leader in Windclan's history.

"I will if you stop thinking that you're irritating" he countered with a smirk and a playful voice, flicking his tail in the process befre curling it around his paws again. Well, they could as well make a deal or something, right?

  • "Deal," she mewed, nodding. Well, Cinder had managed to cheer her up a tad. Though she'd soon be back to being sad, most likely. Wingspan looked at her paws for a few moments, before looking back at the cougar, flicking her tail.

  • "Come on, let's get this one back to camp" Cinderpelt purred before working himself under the deer's corpse and standing back up. It wasn't as heavy as before now that it didn't resist anymore, so he would be able to carry it by himself. It would be alright!

  • "Lead the way" he meowed with a faint smile as he waited for her to start walking towards camp. They could be proud of the vice leader, she had caught a deer after all. Be it with some help. But hey, she had done her part!

  • She nodded and began to walk, glancing behind her at the cougar. "Sure you don't need any help?" she asked him, not wanting him to be in pain. Even if it meant her just holding a leg up, she'd do it.

  • He chuckled for a brief moment before shaking his head. "Don't worry, Wingspan. I can manage" he meowed with a faint smile as he continued walking. The deer was indeed not very heavy, which made it possible for him to carry it without having too much trouble. AS long as it didn't take hours for them to get back to camp, of course.

  • "You're sure you're sure?" she asked him, as she carried on, carrying on glancing at him every so often, her steps not too big in case he did need help.

  • He nodded calmly, the smile on his maw seemingly everlasting. "I'm sure, Wingspan, I'm sure. You can speed up a bit if you want, the sooner we're back home, the sooner we'll be able to rest. And even the lightest thing can become heavy when youc arry it a long time, so you might have to help if we don't arrive in time" he explained with a nod as he continued on, wondering if it was still far although he doubted it. They hadn't strolled that far, now had they?

  • "I won't go ahead," she told him kindly. "I'm not going to leave you behind." She looked at him, her tail tip twitching. "Are your kits still around?" she asked him, hoping it wasn't too insensitive.

  • "I can follow you if you speed up, trust me" he purred before flicking his own tail with nervosity. No one had asked him about his children in such a long time and he wasn't sure what to say. "I think two since Refinedgrace left. Paragonfold is probably around somewhere and Pebbleberry shouldn't be too far either. I know she's out hunting a lot and avoiding social contacts as much as she can... She never was talkative" he meowed softly.

  • "It's fine, Cinderpelt. I promise." Then she blinked. "Oh yes. You must be pretty proud of them all. Paragonfold got to adviser and they're all great warriors or... were. I hope my kits do as well as yours did. Well Hya got to leader and Rhymepaw was an adviser... well actually, I'm proud of all of my kits."

  • He tilted his head, confused slightly. She seemed to know most of his kits better than he did. He hadn't talked much to Para, seeing he sort of hated him now, and most others hadn't reached the warrior age. Or not that he could see. Pushing that thought away, however, he nodded. Wingspan had reason to be proud. Of her own as well. He, on the other hand... "You should be."

  • "Cinderpelt... do you want to watch the stars with me tonight?" she suddenly asked. It'd be a good time for them both to just think and remember loved ones. She wanted to try and see if she could find Fireflyspark in the sky; maybe he'd want to do the same for Bunnytail. Maybe she'd be able to find Nebulaheart, too, and her siblings and kits. Along with her deceased friends from the past.

  • He wasn't sure what to think of the offer, but he felt it was quite important to her. "Sure... And I know a perfect spot for it too" he meowed with a faint smile. "It's quite the walk, but I promise it'll be worth it" he added, a faint smile on his maw. He had the perfect spot in mind, but maybe that was a bit selfish. However, he had a guess about her reasons and that would make the spot even better.
