• I'm stealing Broken's idea here, but I'd like a few critiques on Bistre as an overall character. Sometimes I think I play him off as a little too hard-ass and strict, and I want people to know that the way he acts isn't necessarily the way I feel OOC.

Just about anything you guys have to say can help. He's my muse baby and he's only about 17 moons old an has a lot of life to live and service to offer. What can I do as his roleplayer to make him develop into a better character?

    Thanks! ;D

  • Well to be honest, I agree with what you stated above that he's too harsh and strict all the time, and over reacts to very few things instead of reacting somewhat calmly to the situation. It's kinda like trying to hug a huge thing of sandpaper in a way. I think having him a little bit more calmer and not trying to want to rip someones throat out just when speaking to him would be a good idea, but at the same time maintaining the rest of his personality that you like so much about it. He has a lot of potential as a character and everything, and maybe a better attitude to the other clans would be better as well?
god I sound like such an ass :c

  • If you don't mind me asking, in what ways is he too harsh or strict-

And when has he wanted to/attempted to rip someone's throat out just for speaking to him? As far as HawkClan is concerned, I think I play him more level-headed and a bit rougher because his two co-workers are a little on the softer side.

I think he's mostly too harsh on the affairs with other clans. He gets incredibly angered with the other clans really easily. And I didn't mean he tried, its just an expression lol. He seems like the type that would so something like that, at least in my mind.

  • If you're referring to when he pulled HC out of the battle against ToBE, it was because there were only nine Hawkclanners and four ToAS characters versus the many ToBE, Darkclan, Windclan, Bloodclan, and The Dominion characters. Of course he was going to freak out - they had four dragons on their side. We were out-maned four to one at a time where Hawkclan really can't afford to make any more enemies.

So....yeah, that was his reasoning for that....

And I know 'bite someone's head off' is an expression, but I'm a little saddened that you're assuming that of him because of instances like when he turned on ToAS in the battle. He's always tried to put his clan first - and though his methods are rougher, he's never snapped at anyone for just wanting to talk to him. The statement makes me feel like Bistre is unapproachable as a character....

I hope I'm not coming off as defensive. x.x"

  • No no no no I completely understand. He is your roleplaying baby after all ^.^ It's just a little what I think of, which also may not always be correct XD

I guess its maybe because I've only seen him being his strict self, and not the other parts of him since I don't stalk all of the threads and everything.

  • As someone who totally doesn't stalk your threads I know that he's a bit harsh but really I just see it as blunt. He has opinions that are different than all his other co-workers, and I think that's good for the clan.

Harrierstar and O'Fraiser are rather optimistic; Harrierstar is curious and tends to have her own sticky situations, and O'Fraiser is rather happy-go-lucky. Cambrian's also reaaaaally mellow and calm. Even his other co-workers under him are all on an opposing side - Keylime is level headed, but more of an observer, Bariumpaw is high spirited, and Ichigo is more of a pacifist.

Bistre's blunt, to the point, and willing to do what's best for the clan even if it's a different idea or opinion than his co-workers, and a different point of view in the higher ranks is good for the clan overall. He's realistic while most of the others are idealistic.

  • Bistre is one of my favorites! :D

The way he acted against ToAS, I feel that was fine. In my opinion he would not risk such casualties to happen as HawkClan seemed to be the most active ally to wage against the battleground when it wasn't really their war to take over and win in the first place. I mean, he's the deputy and although he may have not taken the most "professional" way possible (whatever that would be) to excuse himself from the war, not every cat can simply think like that, especially after having been thrown around in someone's maw. Plus he bears the weight of all those that went to war with him, responsibilities that are hard to overcome. He'll have to learn how to make choices without regrets (HAHAHAHAHAHA me so funny). This is just me probably overthinking the whole thing and just considering everything that happened to him that would lead him up to the immediate frustrations toward the leader that had asked them to join in the war. Now, I'm not going against what my darling Sorrel said at all, it's just what I interpreted it from my readings.

I think he should totally give these funny moments where he will just give a very icy cold expression to others, you know, kinda like how Levi always seems to look. I don't know, I feel like it would be an enjoyable read. With the stupid things I make Bugatti do, I can totally see the deputy just stare at him like "you're an idiot." I figure this kind of thing wouldn't help any for Bistre to gain some friends, unless it's Czena, 'cause she won't care one bit. If you got fur, you're a potential cuddle buddy. She'll even clean with him. Being young and all, she's still got her "I wanna help anyone with anything to make them happy and like me" attitude.

I think these type of characters that are super realistic and to the point are awesome to have, yet so hard to manage and keep them that way. I know I have a hard time with it, therefore I just make silly anxious characters that are oblivious and can be pretty dumb, and funny. It's what I'm best at. And babies, I think.

Agreeing with above opinions--I love characters who don't exactly fit in with the regular demographics of the Clan and Bistre certainly does that :P

Other stuff has already been stated.

apologies for quietly stalking some HawkClan threads I was thinking of moving someone in
