Alia turned to Torren, gauging his reaction to his beloved sister being in danger. Tears kept flowing down her cheeks. She knew it would inevitably lead to how she was privy to all of this. And it broke her heart that she would have to admit that all these years... she had been a traitor. A spy. Nothing more than a disposable implement.
Eoron's eyes hardened.
No... I will stop this... Serafina, I'm sending Darling to you... and no arguments from either of you! These are still my halls, whatever that dammed darkling thinks, and I will broker no contestation! he said, looking at the unicorn. Darling, go! Go free your mistress and take her home... I'll deal with Malak... even if it kills me!
Gripping the Bloodstone, Eoron closed his eyes. He reappeared in the library, behind the Drow.
"Enough of these mind games, Drow. We end this...now."
The Drow soldiers grabbed Serafina.
"Let's go me!" the leader of the squad said. "The new King is waiting."
As they dragged the Fae princess up to take her with them, a small, bright blue eye, peeping from around a corner hardened with determination. Having removed her shoes, Umi pattered down the secret passages on silent feet. She wasn't going to lose her friend or her home... not if she could help it!
-
Eoron...No! She called to him while turning around and before she knew it, guards were on her tying a rope on her foreleg and pulling it she landed on the ground on her side. She kicks out her legs trying to get up as her head was tied to her neck.
-
Serafina let out a small cry from the pain in her leg. Using the rest of her energy she managed to send Darling to her father's kingdom.
Torren helped her to her feet and said, "Come Alia."
-
Darling felt her bonds with Serafina vanish and it became painful. The Unicorn's bonds were always part of their life and when ever bonds vanished it came very painful to the unicorns. Darling lets out a scream before galloping off into the fields far from the Fae kingdom
-
Alia got gently to her feet as Torren pulled her up.
"Torren... if we tell your father... you know this'll kill him!" she whimpered as she let the male Fae tug her along. What have I done...? How could I hurt the people I claim to love so...!?
Malak spun on a dime and narrowed his eyes at Eoron.
"How in Gaia's name did you escape!?" he snarled as the two men started circling each other.
There is much you don't know about me... or my castle, it would seem." Eoron scoffed. "You'll never get your hands on the Princess!"
Malak sneered.
"I thought you said she wasn't in your castle." he taunted. "And what do I care about a few humans. You're all worthless to me..."
"You do yourself a great disservice, disregarding humans just because we're mortal." Eoron warned. "Don't underestimate us... or what we're capable of. Even now, there are those within this castle still loyal to me. They will save the princess... and your men won't know what hit them."
As Serafina used the last of her energy to save Darling, the Drow guards closed in. Picking her up, the leader lead the way back to Malak.
By this time, Umi had arrived where the bloodslaves were kept and had told the other fae what was happening.
"Let the Drow kill the King... why should we care!" an old faeman asked.
"King Eoron has been kind to us over the years... well, better than his father ever was!" a younger man interjected. "We've got to help him!"
"And then what...? Remain his slaves?" A teen girl shot back. "I don't know about you, but I'd rather not spend eternity rotting as a slave, thank you very much! At least the Drow might offer us our freedom!"
"Then you're a greater fool than you look child." another faeman said. "Our enslavement is a result of our own folly. No one else's."
"So, we're to remain slaves... continue the legacy of bondage brought on us by our forebearers...?" a faewoman asked.
"Perhaps we can atome for our ancestor's sins." the faeman said. "We must protect the King... and save the Princess!"
-
Torren looked at her and frowned sadly. "I don't know what to tell my father actually. I don't want to cause him more pain, but he needs to know."
Serafina tried to stay awake, but the darkness was to strong.
-
Darling sqeauls pacing in the field wondering what happen to serafina and their bonds
-
When Torren and Alia reached Mitas' chambers, the doors opened at their approach. The old fae King was still seated where Torren had left him. He stared at the fire, a deep sadness covering him like a shroud. Alia felt her heart twinge in her chest. She couldn't tell the old man the truth. She couldn't! Especially when he'd been nothing but good to her. Mitas looked up at the two young fae as they drew closer, seeming resigned to he fact they bore ill news.
Malak sneered at Eoron's words.
"As we speak here, a host of my army approaches the castle of dearly beloved King Mitas... who will not live out the night! His light is fading... I can sense it!"
Eoron's eyes widened slightly at that before he glowered at the Drow.
"Your people will never take the Keep." he said. Prince Torren is as able a leader as Mitas before him. He'll never lose!"
"Torren's heart will be torn asunder... what with the death of his father and sister... he'll be helpless to our might!"
"Not if I kill you first!"
With that Eoron his fist, which held a dagger, swung at Malak.
The drows quickly hurried the limp form of the Princess to the library.
-
"Father? I-is everything alright?" Torren asked warily.
Serafina winced from the iorn dagger still in her leg. With each movement it would shift and burn her more.
-
Mitas gave his son a small smile.
"I know you come here baring ill news." he told Torren. "I know it concerns you sister. Your distress is rolling off you in waves, even though you do well to conceal it. I can also feel a shift in the balance of nature. What has happened?"
Alia glanced at the old King. It seemed nothing slipped past him. She wouldn't be surprised if he knew her secret... ridiculous. Why would he? She unconsciously rubbed her bracelet that marked her as a bloodslave.
The Drow made no attempt to remove the dagger from Serafina, knowing that the iron of the blade would keep her in sufficient pain from reciprocating.
Malak dodged the dagger and snarled at Eoron.
"You're sure you want to play this game, little king?" he spat. "You want to fight me... when you know you stand no chance at all?"
"I don't fight for myself... rather for others within my halls... the princess... my men and servants."
He frowned at Malak.
"It's an emotion you wouldn't know if it his you with a 500 pound hammer!" he snarled. "I have a love for and responsibility to my men and people. I won't let you destroy them!"
"A weak, emotional response!" Malak shot back, attacking with a dagger of his own this time. "You're unfit to be King, a weakling like you. A true king knows only strength and power."
"A true king knows his strength and power come from his people!"
Malak sneered.
"Then you truly are a fool!"
-
Torren took a deep breath and told his father what happened.
Serafina woke a little and gave what little energy she had left to Eoron. You have to stay alive.
-
Mitas closed his eyes as Torren finished telling him what had happened. As he slowly opened his bright blue eyes, he swallowed -hard.
"I see... it is as I feared." he said softly, turning to look at Alia. "I take it Eoron told you this?"
Alia blanched and gripped her bracelet tightly.
"I-I don't-"
"There's no need to lie anymore, young one." Mitas' voice was not unkind, his smile sad, his eyes knowing. "I know what that bracelet you bear means... and why you were left out in the cold all those years ago."
Alia's lip trembled slightly.
"H-how long...?"
"Since the day we found you."
So do you, Princess! Eoron told Serafina. Please... don't worry about me... you just keep yourself alive... help is on the way!
As Eron said this the Drow soldiers burst into the library, the leader bearing Serafina. Eoron glared at the men, then at Malak.
"What have you done to her...!" he snarled. "And what will you do with her now!?"
-
Torren looked at Alia and gently squeezed her hand. He smiled sadly. He then looked at his father and asked, "What do we do?"
Serafina's skin started to look feverish because of the blade.
-
Darling was walking away from the castles entering the woods to find a new home and live with defeat that she lost her bonds

-
Mitas turned to his son.
"We teach the Drow, once and for all, why they fear the Fae." he said. "But we cannot do it alone."
He turned back to Alia.
"I want you to relay what I say to your brethren, those fae still bound in bondage. If the King falls... the Drow will destroy them all."
Alia nodded, then frowned sadly as she felt faint feelings of pain and sadness from Darling.
Darling...? she called out to the unicorn. What's wrong...? Where are you going?
Eoron saw the iron dagger still sticking out of Serafina's leg, saw her skin flushed red.
"Why the hell haven't you taken the dagger out!?" he demanded. "You're going to kill her!"
Malak turned to the king with a sneer.
"Why do I care if the princess dies?"
Eoron glared at the Drow leader.
"You should care! If she dies, Mitas will scoure the world looking for you! He won't give in until he has hunted down and killed every. last. Drow!"
-
Torren nodded and sent a silent order to the gaurds and warriors.
Serafina flinched and let out a weak gasp.
-
The bonds. Was all darling said
