Okay people. The first thing is, Im 16, so Im young like you. Next, I was taught by a college Math teacher. And finaly, i may use the math term, which is 3.1416. But in this class, It will be defined as 3.14. Now, the basic thing I will teach now, are variables. A variable is this: X. Now, X is not defined as "times". It means some mysterious numer, like in this problem: 9+7=X When we do multiply, we will use the symbol *. So, in a problem like this, : 9*7=X * would mean times,or multiply, and X being the number we do not know.

Okay, first, ill give you the easiest problem. 2 + X = 5. Now, what is X, the mysterious number? We dont know, i dont know (lol). The first thing we have to do, is get rid of the number that is being added to X. So, in a way, we MUST get it to be 0. So, how do we do this? We add its opposite. What is the opposite of 2? It would be ¯2. That dash means negative. So, in math, you can add a number on both sides of the =, and the problem will not change. But REMEMBER, BOTH NUMBERS MUST BE THE SAME!!!. So, we add the opposite, which is ¯2 on both sides. Now the problem reads: ¯2 + 2 + X = ¯2 + 5 to solve it, we add ¯2 and 2, whith is 0. and is now 0 + X = ¯2 + 5 Which, you now add ¯2 and 5, which is 3. Now, here is the problem: 0 + X = 3, or X = 3. there you go. questions?
