Be near me when my light is low,
When the blood creeps, and the nerves prick
And tingle; and the heart is sick,
And all the wheels of Being slow.
"You idiots!" Arceus screeched, his voice packed with as much hatred he could muster. Before him sat his idealistic children; Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina. With flashing eyes, Arceus stood up and exclaimed a ferocious roar, to which his children ducked down in horror. "I cannot believe you! Do you fathom the consequences of what it is that you have done?!" Dialga was the first to speak to their father after a long note of silence and hesitation. She cried, "Yes, father, and we apologize dearly for doing it without your consent, but you have to understand!!"
Arceus snorted in disgust, his body beginning to emit a starry aura. "Understand what, Dia?! What is it that I am supposed to understand here?!" Giratina shuffled uncomfortably. It was obvious these sort of situations were unfavorable for him. "For the sake of humanity; the sake of the Pokemon," he sighed, red eyes looking up slowly to meet his father's. Usually, speaking or admitting failure was no big deal to the big, bad Legendary, but his father horrified him in ways unimaginable.
A long silence spread amongst the family, Arceus just staring with horror and disgust. "Father, please! Bear with us, it's all that we ask of-" He quickly interrupted his daughter, biting back, "Hush!" And so she did, dipping her head down with sadness. Arceus drew in a deep breath, the aura fading, and settled back down. "Just tell me...What you did...In detail...Dialga. Just tell me...Exactly...What happened." The blue creature nodded and glanced up, eyes watery. So sensitive, she was, to no one's particular notice. "It was recently, of course, and...Well, Kia and I were with Celebi, Etta, and Latias and Latios...And, uhm..." She trailed off, her words finding blankness in the air.
Palkia took over. "Father, we went down to the realm and saw some things we wished we did not see! They were abusive; training them in horrendous ways and beating them with the fierceness of more than a thousand Typhlosion and Tauros and...By your name, it was awful." He shook his head and sighed pathetically. "We wanted to fix it, but large beasts like us cannot remain in their realm without being hunted or captured or stalked or experimented on. I mean, look at what they did to MewTwo, father!" The siblings nodded in agreement, all frowning with sad eyes. Dialga finally, quietly said, "We did the only thing we could...The only thing we could think to do to save them, Father."
"And, what was that?" Arceus murmured, eyes closed and body tense in a failing attempt to be calm and not lash out again. Dialga swallowed, glancing away. "We took...oh, um...We took some human subjects-" Arceus suddenly exclaimed, "Oh, NO!!" but Dialga quickly shouted, "Father, please! Calm yourself and let me speak. It's not...as bad as it sounds. So, yes, we gathered some of the humans of their realm...and, we...well, oh, how to put this...?" Giratina stood up and slunk forth, growling quietly. "We fused their DNA with some of our own." Arceus's eyes flashed open again and he leaped upwards, flashing that awful aura again.
The children dipped their heads down in shame, sulking in despair. Everything would go wrong because of them. Perhaps the world would spiral out of control now; crash and burn. Lamely did they murmur choked apologies, their words quiet but truthful. And Arceus, realizing their disappointment and frustration, sighed and settled himself a little. He tried to see the positive side, any good side of this predicament and could find few. Blinking some sense into himself, he waited for his children to snap into attention. When they did, he gave a subtle nod. Their eyes lit up.
"I understand," he said, "that you were trying to help. That this is what you were meant to do. Although I am greatly disappointed in you all- even Ux, Sprits, and Azzy for not stopping you! -I truly, dearly understand this scenario. You are correct. Our world is in jeopardy, and you have tried to form a source to stop it. Whilst I would never had formed this decision or had any idea of it myself, I am proud you had the wits to invent it yourselves." The three children grinned. "But there is only one thing I must ask of you, and that is to keep these...these...ahem, these Pokehumans away from any ordinary humans."
"Done and done!!" Dialga and Palkia shouted with much enthusiasm, while Giratina just grumbled in an agitated manner as he had done many times before. "Oh, but father- we have a name for them." Arceus cocked his head to the side, face contorting into a sort of half-scowl, half-smirk. "And what would that be?" Dialga proudly smiled and lifted her chin at him. They had formed the name earlier so the creatures would not go nameless, of course, because how petty would that be. "We shall call them gijinka!"
Arceus pondered over this for a moment. Gijinka? Well, it certainly rolled off the tongue. For what seemed to be an eternity, the Legendary just sat there, thinking of every aspect of the name before stating, "Very well. We shall call them gijinka and thus they shalt be the very balance of our universe. You, my children- as well as the Lake Guardians -and perhaps Keldeo and, even, Lugia and Ho-Oh -are to guard them with your life at any and all costs. Do you hear me? Make sure whatever the society or civilization you place them is secure, and watch them. Watch them closely, in case any one of them turned out rotten in the head and has decided to go beserk, confirmed?"
His children dipped their heads and chorused, "Confirmed," before they were dismissed to contemplate where these "balances of the universe" would be held for their prior safety. The three settled down off in the distance in one of Palkia's spacial realms, and they began to reiterate over and over any possible ideas that they had. Their arguments were terrible, and within a long few hours, they had come to no agreement. Frustrated, they spat out their particular ideas yet again in hopes that they would have the prevailing idea.
"A tribe," Palkia hissed, "so that they are more closely connected to the wilderness of Pokemon, more spiritual. It's what the enormity of their existence is all about, anyways, Dia!"
Dialga rolled her red eyes. "A kingdom is the only suitable environment! They must learn to be civil and play by the rules of a polite society! We can't have them live like, Pokemon, Kia!"
"You two have no idea how to compromise, do you?" Giratina mumbled, his eyes flitting in between the two of them with unease. He was used to them never being able to come to a conclusion, which was probably why them kept him around. After catching their attention, he suggested, "Why not have it incorporate both? A kingdom, yet also a tribe."
The twins stared at him for a while before breaking down in shouting. "How do you suppose we do such a thing, Gira?!" Dialga spat. "We can't just go and do anything!" Palkia groaned. And Giratina just sighed and have a simple shrug. They were smart, far smarter than he was, really, but Giratina knew he was stronger, more riveting and intimidating and dangerous than they were. "You two are geniuses. Figure it out, because I sure can't help you." On that note, the creature of Darkness rose to his feet and exited the realm to venture into another.
And so, the remaining Legendaries mulled over their ideas for a long, long while before coming to an unfortunate agreement, and then they headed out to find their father. After meandering over to him, Dialga said, "Father?" and the God of Pokemon- the Creator -looked up at her and nodded. "I presume you have come to an understanding, am I correct?" They nodded back at him. "Yes, we have, actually. So you are indeed correct." With slight hesitation they explained their idea in full and total detail to him. "It should be a sort of Kingdom, in a way, where they learn things civilly and have ranks to declare a perfect society, yet some get to train to become closer to the spiritual realm and to Pokemon and such, and oftentimes young'ens can learn to fight and guard and protect and train us as well! It will be a formula fusing kingdom with clan. Civil with monster, yes?"
Arceus, finding this an actually wondrous idea, just said, "Indeed," and that was it. It had been decided.
Be near me when the sensuous frame
Is rack’d with pangs that conquer trust;
And Time, a maniac scattering dust,
And Life, a Fury slinging flame.
