  • Okay, let's see how this train wreck goes! ^^

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Kyou was walking. Walking aimlessly through a city she had discovered. She could hear the converse squeak slightly against the glistening road, which was covered in litter, and stained with splotches of fainted blood.

Why would he be here anyway?

Kyou cursed to herself under her breath, hating herself for wasting her precious time in a dangerous place like a city. Hell, she's lucky she isn't one of the corpses littering the floors.

She leaned on the wall next to and turned her head to be met with her own reflection.

Apparently this is the last window that isn't shattered to pieces...

Kyou inspected herself. Her once pretty face was now covered in scars, and her skin was pale despite being outside all of this time. Her patch covering her right even was almost destroyed, and Kyou knew she desperately needed a new one.

At one point, Kyou really was a beautiful girl. And not as in she would cover herself with makeup, but she was a natural beauty. But now, the events she has been through have cause her to be a bony, scar-filled mess.

Kyou was just getting ready to inspect some buildings in the small chance that there would be supplies, but...

    Hm? Were they... voices?

    Kyou went to inspect

  • Maine, exhausted from climbing, clung desperately to the rubble barely supporting his weight, as slight as it was. The men below shouting and laughing. They fired their weapons below him making him climb the already crumbling structure. "Higher." "Quicker." Then group kept urging him on. "I-I c-c-c-can't it will f-fall." Tears now streaming from his eyes, adding to the stains on his shirt. The salty tears making his gore covered shirt run streaks of red.

Still looking around for a way out. He saw it. A ledge where the group wouldn't be able to shoot at him. It was about a meter above him. So he climbed making up that last bit of distance. Then dived into the safety of the ledge. Bullets flew past as the men realised his plan. A few nicked his foot and leg. "Aaahhh." He doubled over clutching his leg where the bullets hit.

"I got him." One of the bandits cried out

    "No I did" Another argued

A shot was fired and a thud as a body hit the floor told Maine what had happened.

"I said I had hit him." A cheer came up from the group. "Now what about him?" "We camp here and wait till he comes back down." The bandits then set up camp. Then posted a lookout at the base of my ruined building. So that i didn't sneak away in the night.

  • Kyou explored the area where she thought she hard the voices come from, using her ears as her valuable allies. They detected laughing... and... a gunshot?

Someone fired a gun?!? Do they want to be slaughtered by the walkers?

She rushed to where the startling sound had come from, and there she found a rough looking gang.

Dammit... Looks like i can't steal their stuff any time soon if they have a gun.

Noticing the body on the floor, Kyou's breath was cut short. She shot for cover behind a near-by building. Cautiously, she turned her head to inspect her surroundings. The masculine body still had blood pouring out, with a gun still gripped in his hands. One of the guys kicked it out of the way to... create room for their supplies? The bandits had just started to set up a camp...

Are they idiots? Who would sleep in the middle of a city?!... Eh... If they die, at least i can have their supplies... they look like they have some nice stu-

Kyou's thoughts we're cut short by a rock falling in her line of vision. She turned back to the bandits, hoping they hadn't thrown in, but they were just laughing and swearing. Confused, Kyou looked around at the streets to see if anyone had thrown until anther rock fell of her head.

Stopping herself from cursing in pain, she looked up to see...

Jesus Christ... Is that a dude up there? What the hell is he-

It clicked. The bandits were planning on doing something to this guy. Probably kill him for the little supplies he had. The guy hadn't noticed Kyou, but she inspected his condition. He... Well... he'll be dead by morning if no one helps him. He had shots all over his leg, and it was bleeding pretty badly. Kyou took this as a warning not to mess with these guys.

As she started to walk away, something in her mind stopped her.

I can't really just... leave him there... to be killed by those bandits... I mean... I could save his life if I wanted to.... Anyway, I'll get some sweet supplies if I take the gang down. Yeah, I''m doing it for the supplies.

Kyou threw a rock at the thug who was watching the dude. The thug looked around in confusion, but refused to leave his position. The process was repeated. This time, the thug, prepared his gun, and his eyes were rapidly inspecting the area, but still stood his ground. Another rock was thrown. The thug finally decided to walk out onto the street were the rock had came from.

Kyou sneakily rushed behind him, covered his mouth, and slit his neck. It all happened in a second.

The post was edited 1 time, last by Yuffiex ().

  • Still in pain, Maine biting his lips to stop himself from screaming tied a tourniquet around his knee to try and stop the blood flow. It worked to an extent however he was already feeling slightly dizzy. He looked around for any supplies thet may help him.

Peering cautiously over the edge he looked down to see what he feared. Not only had the bandits taken up camp. But his rucksac had split depositing most of his food and water on the ledge below.

Great...if i try to climb down I get shot. If i stay up here I starve

Still looking he glimpses what looks to be a person. In fact it is a person. Now with a little hope that the person may try to rescue him. Maine starts to gather rocks that would be big enough to hurt if thrown from this hight. After collecting a few he goes to the ledge.

Come on. What are you waiting for. Help me.

The figure was still deciding wether to help. Then a rock was thrown taking the notice of the man on guard. He looked around and saw nothing so did nothing. Another rock was thrown. This time the guard went to investigate turning the corner where the rock had come from. And not coming back round.

Readying his arm. Maine threw the first rock aiming at one of the bandits but missing hopelessly.

    Damn...

Shots them hammered out missing him but still grazing the building and the edge of the ledge. But now the bandits focus was diverted.

  • What the hell was that?!

Glancing around the corner, Kyou saw that one of the bandits had been shooting at the building, causing more of it to fall down. Damn, she could have easily have been caught or even killed then, with the rubble landing so close to her. Kyou sent a quick, deadly glance to the victim, in hope that he would see.

Ugh, what the hell are you doing?! I'm trying to help; don't make this harder than it already is, Jackass!

Fortunately, the bandit who had been shooting sat back down and started drinking again, blissfully unaware that his ally had been disposed of. Kyou pulled out her trustworthy throwing knives; the same ones her brother had given her when this whole mess started. These knives have been her best friends throughout the years, and although old, they don't seem to have blunted in the slightest.

Despite Kyou's exceptional skill with the knives, this was still a long shot. Even hitting them would be a challenge, never mind a wound which would end their lives instantly.

Kyou thought about her tactics for a bit, knowing that all odds were against her.

What the hell did I get myself into?...

Okay, there we're three bandits left... meaning that she had only one knife for each of them. If Kyou wanted any chance of succeeding, it meant she would have to get up, close, and personal. But that also meant... she needed a distraction.

Her gaze drifted upwards, while she mouthed the word "Help".

  • Taking cover from the shots Maine rethought his plan.

    Okay...lets not try that again.

He looked down back at the person helping him. Reading the mouthed words he ponders how to help. Still unsure of how this one person can help against three armed bandits. He knew he had to do something. Anything. If he wanted to see tomorrow.

Looking around a plan started to form in his head. Although likely to injure him in the process it was all he could think of. Careful not to catch the eye of the bandits he gestured to the figure to wait a couple of minutes.

Reaching into what was left of his rucksack he pulled out the last of the rope he had. He tied it round his chest and then to a column near the back of the ledge then picking up an iron bar from what he guessed was the foundation he shoved it into a large crack in what was left of a support column in front of him.

He gestured again for his ally to get ready.

    Well fuck...here goes something.

With that using his good foot he kicked hard down on the metal pole. Nothing. He did it again. Nothing. Once more he thought. This time he was rewarded with a small crack forming from the hole.

    Its a start

He kicked twice more and he felt the ledge give a little. Holding onto the rope now for his life he kicked once more as hard as he could and the column collapsed hitting the front of the ledge taking that with it. Which in turn made the rest of the ledge give with only a few inches and the rope to support him. Maine gripped on shut his eyes and prayed that he would open them again.

The column the ledge and some of the rubble on the way down to the bottom where the makeshift camp was created a thunderous noise. And before he could react one of the bandits was buried. The other two stood in shock not knowing what was next. Their weapons abandoned at the base of the urban avalanche as they stumbled back. They simply stared up to see Maine hanging on to a small piece of rope.

  • ...

    .........

    .................Jesus

Bewildered, Kyou stared at the fallen column, looking as lost as the thugs for a second.

Snapping back into reality, Kyou realised that her job was much more simple now, given the bandit's current state. She creeped up behind one, and swiftly sliced his neck. The process was repeated on the last bandit. Again, it all happened in a few seconds.

Kyou had to admit to herself: This guy could think on his feet. Sure, he lacks in defence and offence, but his strength was his quick mind.

Observing her surroundings, Kyou looked up to find this victim hanging there, swaying slightly with the wind.

    Silence.

Kyou just stared at the man for an agonisingly long time, before lowering her head and sighing. "I guess you want my help. Again." She spat the words like venom.

Kyou was angry. Angry with this guy, for almost causing her death, and angry with herself, for almost letting herself be killed in something and insignificant as this. Was this guy really worth her life? Or even her time? Her precious, precious time... She had wasted it on a month's worth of supplies, and a life she didn't even know.

And now... She had to waste even more time.

Knowing that the fall wouldn't kill him, instead of cutting the rope from the top and lowering him the floor, she just threw the knife, which cut the rope instantly, allowing the man to fall onto the column.

    Kyou was really pissed off.

  • Fuck...i think it worked...im not dead.

Maine opened his eyes to find he wasn't. He looked at where the camp once was. Seeing only two dead bandits and his unlikely hero. A girl. She seems angry. He felt dizzy. He saw a knife son in her hand and heard her shout. The knife was then gone from her hand and cut the rope he was hanging from.

    Shit...

He fell. His stomach lurched. His head span. Then his foot hurt again. He had landed square on his shot ankle. Unable to stop his fall he fell forward he hit his head on the stone and fell rolling down stopping at the strange girls feet. His vision blurry he looked up at her. "T-thankyou." He wheezed out. "I owe-owe you." He slowly stumbled to his feet wincing as he put a small amount of weight on his leg. He extended an arm. "I-I'm Ma-Maine."

  • Kyou examined his pathetic looking body. Okay...Maybe she shouldn't of done that when he has been shot multiple times...
She looked at his arm, which was extending out to shake her's, and ignored it.

"You know, if you offer trust that easily, I have no idea how your still alive" Kyou's tone was blunt and still slightly irritated. All she could think about was how much time she has wasted, and how much she currently is wasting by talking to someone who probably won't be alive tomorrow...

Well... He could be... If I stitched up his wounds... No, I'm running out of time...

Kyou shook her head. No matter how bad she felt... She just couldn't waste more time and any of her supplies on someone who is potentially a lost cause.

But... He does seem to be an able tactician... No, I have to go. Now!

Kyou packed her knives and supplies. "Well, your welcome... I'll be going now, i have things to take care of. See you around.." She turned around swiftly to leave...

  • Maine was more confused than shocked, this girl who had just risked her life to save him would now simply leave him to his fate. his vision blurred a little. He took a step forward, however this shifted weight to his leg and he fell to his knees.

He felt the blood to flow again from his leg, he started to get a headache. "P-please m-m-miss. Dont llllea-leave me to die." Bitting his tongue he raised himself up again. He took a step reaching out he fell again. His head was spinning and his leg was to injured for him to walk alone. Again he fell this time his hand brushed down the back of the girl.

    "I-I haaa-aave a safe house."

    He slumped onto all fours.

"Ther-eere is enough food for a while. Do-nn-don't leave me to die."

He looked up to see if the girl had paid any attention.

  • Shocked at his please, Kyou turned around, see see him lying on the floor in agonising pain. It was obvious that he wouldn't make it another hour if she left him. His injuries we're too severe, and walkers would be coming soon due to the colunm crashing earlier.

This guy was wasting too much of her time. She wished she had never of helped him in the first place.

He's so freaking helpless. Even if I help him, if i leave him, he'll be dead within a few days! But still... I can't really leave another person to die... It's not like he's a bandit or walker...

After a moment of silence, Kyou finally spoke in a bland tone "...Fine, I'll get you back to where you need to be, but i'm not spending a long time there. I'm leaving straight away if I can't help you. I'm no miracle worker." Kyou looked down at his leg drenched in blood. "I'm not carrying you. Can you walk?"

  • "I-I don't know." Maine once again put pressure on his leg. This did little but cause him pain and cause more blood to flow. "Not-Not without aid." Spots were appearing in his vision his hands were shaking sweat was pouring from his face.

She's going to abandon me...This is it. NO I won't give in.

Looking around the immediate area within arms reach he spotted another price of metal frame similar to the one he used to take the column down. Only this one was longer. He grabbed it tore some of the fabric from his shirt sleeve and stuffed it in his mouth. The frame under his arm, biting down on the fabric tears streaming. Face sweating. He stood. And took a step. Then another. After four steps he stumbled and had to place his hand on the girls shoulder. "If I-I. If I can lean on-on you. I can make it." His words muffled slightly by the fabric

He took a step and nodded down one of the streets giving the direction of the safe house.

  • "Oh for God's sa-... Fine, just... It better not be far"

    Kyou wasn't happy. At all.

What the hell did I get myself into? All I wanted was the supplies and now i'm looking after wounded insted of searching... Ugh... I don't have time for this...

While they we're staggering along, Kyou got curious. About how that situation even happened. How stupid do you have to be to get yourself into a situation like that?

Never making eye contact, Kyou asked in a monotone accent "How in the hell did you even get those guys chasing you? I mean, the wanted to the supplies, so you give them them. You wouldn't be alive right now without me. Don't be an idiot or a hero. They were way beyond you."

She was being blunt, but she really didn't care. This guy had to learn what the world was like now.

  • Fighting pain and stumbling every step even with the help he was receiving he lifted his head as if to talk. Instead only blood dripped out.

"Needed water...only...only supply i cant grow."

Maine was now struggling to breath. His lungs were fighting under the stress of reduced blood his muscles barely able to hold his own weight. They went on unable for Maine to keep talking. Eventually he made the girl turn into a side street. Where the destroyed remains of a wall allowed the pair to just climb through. He snapped the fingers on his right hand lights came on and the two ventured onwards deep into the building up the stairs. He snapped again the lights now behind them went off and the two were plunged into plich blackness.

Maine let himself slide from the girls shoulder's.

    "Clap...lights behind snap...lights a head clap...not strong enough...clap loud."

  • Kyou had to admit, she was impressed. She hadn't seen electricity in a long time. And here was a 'Clap on- Clap off' system, which was pretty impressive even before this whole thing started.

Wanting to maintain her authority, she shot another hard glare before reluctantly clapping. Loud. So loud that she felt Maine jump slightly. And as expected, the lights turned on.

....Woaah. Okay. That's pretty friggin cool.

She repressed the childish urge to clap again. Her face hardened again, and she turned to look at Maine. "Happy?".

Kyou was still curious about this guy though. How did he survive this long? Why was he alone? And how does he know about this abandoned building with electricity? Kyou mentally face-palmed.

I thought I searched this city inside and out...

    "So uh... Tell me, Maine."

Kyou practically spat his name out as if it were dirt in her mouth.

"Why are you alone? And how the hell did you survive this long?"

  • Finally able to rest up for even a moment Maine felt some sort of control come back to his body. He looked up at the girl as she ran her questions at him. His eyes trying to focus as he was still slightly dazed.

"I-I-I wasn't always alone." He simply stopped talking for a moment and looked away. Swallowing hard he turned back to face her.

"We're actually underground right now. The group I'm with...was with helped me make this place for us all. We're in a blocked off section of the sewage system. Water still flows though here from the rivers so we put some turbines onto some generators into the fastest flowing currents that gives me Electricity. and no ones ever noticed the buildings lights on cause the clapper controls these lights and the snapper controls the nes upstairs that way they're independent."

It took a while to recover his breath after the long explanation and as he tried to stand back up blood began to run from his leg again.

"Gahh fuck. Meds are in that closet." He pulled a large set of keys from his pocket and found the correct one passing it to the girl.

"Please hurry its getting harder to stay awake."

  • "You lost your group, huh?"

Kyou tone became softer, and she couldn't help but pity Maine. She knew what it was like to loose someone close, but at least she still has a chance of seeing him again. Maine had lost everything close to him, which included his friends and possibly his family.

    "...I'm sorry to hear that."

After a moment of silence, Kyou took the keys and headed towards the medicine cabinet.

Well, at least she didn't have to waste her own supplies on this guy. The only thing she had to waste was...

    Time.

As Kyou was looking through the vast variety of medications and supplies, all she could think about was how she needed to find him. He was the only person she cared about, and who she had dedicated her teenage life trying to find. If she didn't find him alive soon, she knew that they would cross paths again...

But he wouldn't be the loving person she once knew...

Kyou grimaced, and shook the thought from her head. She couldn't be negative yet. He was strong. He would still be out there. She just needed to look in the right place.

Noticing that Maine was almost out of thread, Kyou let out a purposely loud sigh.

Great, I guess I will have to use my supplies!

Before closing the closet, Kyou took out some extra cotton and bandage. She made sure Maine couldn't see her and replaced her eye patch.

"This is the start of your repayment, Maine"

After finishing, she collected the missing supplies she needed from her bag and started to clean and stitch Maine's leg.

  • Maine winced a little, as the needle entered his skin.

"Thankyou. You can take whatever you need, but please don't take too much of the water that's the only thing a can't grow."

Maine finally had a chance to look at the woman who had just saved his life. She like him was thin, no sh*t Sherlock, we don't exactly live like kings nowadays do we, Maine kept these thoughts to himself. She could easily leave now and take what she wanted without helping me she knows the way out, she's in far better shape to survive a fight.

    "Hmm"

She probably pity's me. Even in an apocalypse girls still only notice me when I need sympathy. Well its better than nothing. Maine's keen mind quickly set about the task of analysing the girl.

Hmm obviously become more acclimatised to the current situation of the human race. Seems a bit of a loner, by the way she re-acted to my story I reckon she's lost people or a person before.

Before he realised Maine had started to lean forward looking into the girls face as she worked on his leg.

Well something happened to her eye. Maybe it was always like that? No a birth defect wouldn't have blood on the bandaging. Some one elses blood? No its too fresh. its hers. maybe exerting herself hurts causes a wound to re open.

"If my guess is right you need surgery on that eye of yours."

Maine spoke before he realised what he was doing.

  • ...

He just... What right did he have to ask that?!

Kyou almost lost it, but managed to refrain from yelling. After all, she did ask him personal questions...

"...I've had it for a while, I can cope. Anyway, I don't hide it because of the wou-"

Kyou cut herself off. She didn't want this guy knowing the one thing she has kept hidden her whole life. She didn't even like it when he saw it.

"You know what, forget I said anything. It probably does need surgery but where the hell do you expect me to find a doctor to do it? I'll live. Don't involve yourself in my personal matters."

Though Kyou is usually direct and aggressive, she knew she was being to harsh on Maine. She needed someone to take her anger out on, and Maine was the victim.

After Kyou had sown the final stitch, she stood up.

"Stay here for a few days. Keep well hydrated and well fed... or at least to the best of your ability. Your wounds were pretty bad but it you avoid getting into stupid situations you should be fine. Before you complain about water, i'll leave you a few bottles. And my advice is to find a new group because dude, you wont survive a week out there alone."

Kyou contemplated whether to pack some of his supplies but... She couldn't bring herself to do it. She mentally cursed at herself, put her bag on and started to walk out of the door..

  • "I...I...I could take a look at your eye. I was a surgeon before this happened."

Maine now spoke barely above a whisper. He was completely terrified. He would've rather faced the bandits again, now rather than this one girl.

"Y-You may have been okay before this and your eye might be coping but if you put it through more stress then you could end up bleeding out."

Maine looked down. Then stood up. He started to feel adrenaline flow into his system.

"Or you can go. Dont worry. I can take care of myself I have done for a while. But if your behaviour pattern is anything to go off of. You'll either have a breakdown and be easy prey for a walker. Or you'll bleed out."

Maine couldn't let another good person die. Not when he could help it.

"LISTEN TO ME. I WON'T LET YOU LEAVE UNTIL I'VE AT LEAST CHANGED YOUR BANDAGES PROPERLY. Let me try and stop some of the risk of bleeding out. You look tired. Stay here eat some fresh food have a drink and think this through."

After his outburst Maine looked forward to the girl his eyes opening wide then he started to retreat again. Think only one thing.

OH GOD SHE'S GOING TO KILL ME!
