Foxpaw climbed a tree, waiting quietly behind a limb. She watched the bird's nest, patiently waiting for the mother to return so she can make her move and take the eggs and the mother.

Gloomyclaw approached the tree silently and sat down below it. He observed the apprentice sneaking toward the birdsnest. He decided to subtly climb the tree in silence and observe Foxpaw's luck.
-
Foxpaw, while aware of something climbing the tree, was too focused to realize it was another cat. After another minute or two of waiting, a robin lands on the limb and sits on her eggs. Foxpaw then makes a move, pouncing and throwing the bird out of her nest. The bird shrieks in fear as the little she-cat sinks her fangs into her throat and she kept a paw on each wing. She held there until the animal stopped moving. She then lifted her head and turned back to see what had been behind her. "Oh! Gloomyclaw, it's you!" She said, grinning.
-
"You're quite the little explorer, aren't you?" he smiled. She may be small, but she uses it to her advantage. Just then, Gloomyclaw got an idea. He pounched of the branch onto the soft grass below and signaled Foxpaw to follow him, before darting deeper into the forest.
-
"Hey wait!" Foxpaw shouted. She looked down at her newly caught bird. It was too big to just carry. She figured she could grab it later. So she jumped from the branch and ran after the larger tom. "Wait, I'm coming!"
-
Gloomyclaw dashed forward, keeping his distance from Foxpaw. He always made sure she was keeping up, but he wanted to make sure she was fast enough. "No doubt she'll be able to manage it." he thought to himself.
He stopped a few paces away from his goal and hunched himself to prepare to sneak. He was waiting for Foxpaw to catch up so that he could give her the challenge that he had in mind. -
Foxpaw hissed and ran as fast as she could manage. "Gloomyclaw!" She hissed. Eventually, she couldn't find him anymore and stopped. "Gloomyclaw?" She asked.
-
"Psst! I'm over here!" he whispered to her. He had hid behind some bushes and was looking at a mighty stag that was eating a couple of yards away. "You see that thing? I want you to kill it." He smiled and looked at Foxpaw.
-
Foxpaw crawled into the bushes next to him. On her face was a look of awe. "You're not serious are you?" she asked, looking over at the beast. "It's huge!" She exclaimed quietly.
-
Gloomyclaw let out a quite chuckle. "I know that it's huge, I can see that myself! What I also know is that you can handle it." He looked over at Foxpaw and smiled. "You are fast enough to kill, or atleast to wound it." Seeing the slight worry on the apprentices face, he attempted to reassure her. "And if you cannot bring yourself to do it or if you feel as if you are about to fail, do not hesitate to call me in and I will show you speed." He smiled and lowered his head as he returned to gaze at the magestic animal.
-
Foxstep gave him a frown of uncertainty. "Well okay.." She said softly, beginning to advance toward the stag. She climbed into the nearest tree, slowly making her way across it until she was straight above it's neck. The small she-cat leaped onto the great animal's neck and bit in with her small fangs. The stag bellowed in fear and swung its antlers a few times. At one point, the animal hit her, knocking her off. The apprentice got up and hissed at the animal. She felt a sharp pain in her left leg, but tried to ignore it. "I don't think I can do this!' she called to Gloomyclaw.
-
Gloomyclaw was impressed by her resilience, but decided that now was the time for him to step in. He dashed over in the cover of the grass toward the panicking stag. He was not proud of much, but he was proud of his agility and ability to fight. The closer he got to the stag, the more silent the enveloping world became. "Do yourself a justice and give her the kill" he thought to himself, remembering what had happened to his daughter. He was now within pouncing distance and so he lept. In one swift move, he cut through the forelegs of the stag, making it fall on it's horns.
He came back around to disable his hind legs as well, making escape impossible. Whilst the stag was disabled, Gloomyclaw approached it's neck and scratched it, making it bleed very slightly.
"Come now, it is still your stag, is it not?" He called out to Foxpaw, motioning with his tail for her to approach. -
"No.." Foxstep sighed, turning away. "I dont deserve it." She said.
-
Gloomyclaw frowned. "Why do you think I did this, why do you think I gave you this challenge?" he asked her as the stag lay bleeding on the ground, still disabled.
-
(Sorry about the small reply in the last post > ). I was in a hurry.)
Foxstep looked at her carefully, her ears swiveling nervously. "Alright.." She said after a moment. She approached the deer. She looked into its eyes enforce slashing through its jugular. She watched the animal die. It tried breathing desperately, but a wounded throat gave it no compensation. Soon, it lay still. She turned bal to him. "Thanks for letting me kill it." She said with a smile. It wasn't until then that she looked down to identify the pain on her shoulder. A large sized gash extended from her shoulder and across her chest. The blood stained her orange and white fur and made her black fur look slick. She winced a bit . "That's a problem."
-
(That's alright, don't worry about it! :D)
Gloomyclaw's worry grew larger. "Yeah, you don't say..." he said absently. He began to think about what he had learned whilst he was clanless and alone, how he took care of himself. He found himself thinking about his own scar right above his own shoulder. "Alright, we're going to have to get you to a medic soon, but we can't move you very far just yet. Lay down carefully and I'll be right back!" He helped Foxstep to lay down before swiftly dashing off to gather some herbs. He had not been gone for long before he returned. "This is going to sting a little, but it will help us move you. Just lay back and I'll fix this" he said as he approached the wounded apprentice.
-
Foxpaw stepped away a bit. "I think I'm fine." She didn't like so much worry toward her. "I can handle until we get to camp
-
Gloomyclaw looked with surprise at Foxpaw, clearly impressed. "Alright, let's go find a medic then. But we should probably bring our prey with us." he said, motioning toward the slain stag. It was big, but not so big that it would be impossible to bring it back to camp.
