"I won't respect a tyrant." The announcer narrowed his eyes. "And I certainly won't respect someone who doesn't respect his own citizens." He snorted again, picking up a large golden medal and slipping it over Flame's neck. "Congratulations to Flame, tonight's Grand Champion!" The announcer shouted, and walked off to clean up and shut down for the night. Everyone started to disperse and go home, including Flame.
Flame trotted home with his friends, and pride glittering in his eyes. "That was so cool!" One of his friends laughed, "Yeah! Blaze sure did look mad though." Another one added. Flame nodded and neighed, "I had a fun night guys. You're all welcome to stay at my place for the night."

The next day, Flame stood near the announcer's body, bending down to smell the body. Blaze... He pinned his ears. Blaze's scent was all over the dead horse. What kind of king kills his citizens for no reason? Flame thought, turning to the other horses. "Alright, you all can go along your way, nothing to see here." The stallion told them, hoisting the dead stallion onto his back and carrying him into the forest to dig a grave, and give him a proper burial.

Flare saw the dead stallion and followed Flame. She wanted to know what happened to the horse. Who did it. She continued following.

Flame flicked his ears behind him to see Flare, dropping the body into the large grave he had just dug. "Good morning, madam. Can I help you?"

"What happened? To that stallion I mean." Desiree asked, motioning towards the body.

"Blaze" Flame snorted, narrowing his eyes at the sound of his name. "He apparently isn't the good king he claims to be"

Flare pinned her ears. She looked down at the corpse of the stallion, unsure of what to do. "I'll help you bury him." she said.

Flame shook his head. "It's all right." He snorted to her, gently placing the body into the grave, placing the soft soil onto the dead stallion. "Blaze had no reason to kill. He's just being a brat because he was declared a loser last night at the fighting ring."

Flare stayed silent and looked at the newly finished grave. "But," she finally began, "there has to be a reason he kills. Whether it be that he's evil or... something else. There's a reason for everything." she said.

Flame nodded. "True. But I just think he's crazy." The stallion snorted.

"That could be a reason." Flare said. "But I want to find out. Maybe we could help him stop."

Flame looked up. "His father was a murderer as well, Flare. He kills whoever gets in his way of power."

"I know that but... There's good in everyone. Some horses just keep it locked away and toss the key. We just need to forge a new one an unlock it." Flare answered after some time.

Flame snorted, turning on his heels to gallop off towards the new ring. "Blaze!" He shouted, a bunch of horses turning their heads to him. "Blaze is a murderer!" Flame shouted loudly, narrowing his eyes at the stallion. "You killed that announcer for no reason." He paused, speaking up. "It was uncalled for. But no, poor Blaze had to be a brat because he didn't get what he wanted." Several horses surrounding them started snickering. "Didn't your mother teach you any manners? Or was she too busy whoring around?"
