Firewhisper Clan (RP thread, plz join first)

Abyss' feathery mane blew softly as the wind ran its gentle fingers through the fur. Her claws gripped the tree branch steadily as she crouched there like a cat, watching the deer graze the long grass in the clearing. She slowly began to unfurl her large feathered falcon-like wings, creeping along the branch until it was bent under weight and using it as a spring when she pounced. Her jump, however, was miscalculated, and she landed with her bulk on too much of a tilt and was easily bucked off as the deer fled in terror. Hissing, she got up, not bothering to chase as it would only strain her freshly-wounded shoulder.

Damien shot out of the trees after the deer that Abyss had lost, bringing it down within seconds. Abyss growled at his smug look as he dragged in his kill with Abyss limping after him.

Damien flicked his cat-like ears. "Huntin'" he said, his speech muffled by the deer, which was just as big as he was if not bigger.

Abyss tried stretching out her shoulder but winced and hissed in pain. "Breathing," she snorted ill-temperedly.

Ic: Abyss flinched away and hissed, but not before his tail brushed her shoulder. She froze, amazed, as the pain drained from her wounded limb. Damien rolled his eyes. "Uh... Thanks," she said, whipping Damien with her tail without moving. The other dragon flinched and laughed. "Hey!"

Abyss rolled her eyes and cuffed Takato lightly over his ears with a paw. "I do believe my way of thanking someone and yours differ greatly."

Ic: "Hey!" shouted Abyss, jumping into the air after Takato. "You're just gonna leave me with this beastly excuse for a dragon?" she laughed, referring to Damien.

Damien sighed. He had been with Abyss since they were hatchlings, but no matter what he did he hadn't yet gained her trust, just a sort of mutually assured you-hit-me-i-hit-back-but-if-no-one-starts-it-were-fine. Somewhat of a peace treaty, and they regarded each other as littermates, so not quite friendly but with a teasing sort of hostility.

Abyss narrowed her eyes but sighed. "Eh, sure. But only if I can't catch my own," she added, winking before angling her wings downward and plummeting into a fast dive. Swooping low, she glided over the back of another deer, which didn't notice her until it was too late. She sank her teeth into its neck. The deer was dead before it stopped running, and Abyss struggled to stay in the air with the weight of the huge creature. "Ha ha!" she huffed, flying next to Takato again. "I can still hunt. We can eat together though, if you want."

Damien dragged his kill into the camp and laid it in front of Sparrow. "Here," he said. "That egg looks like it's going to be hatching soon, and it'll do you no good to be out of energy when you have a little hatchling running around your paws."

Abyss grinned and strained her wings to keep her up. The camp wasn't too far.

Damien nodded with a slight smile. "No problem," he said, looking to make sure the two other dragons were anywhere remotely close to the camp, then heading off to his den when he spotted them in the sky. They both had brought in decent kills, and they obviously wouldn't be able to eat it all themselves, so he would wheedle some out of Abyss and they would have more to spare for tomorrow.

Damien's ears pricked at the smell of the deer Takato was offering him. "Oh, thank you," he said, taking it and sitting down close to the two other dragons. He flicked his tail over Abyss' ears.

Abyss waved him off and dragged her deer next to Takato. "If you need any more then that I'll share," she said. "I don't eat too much."
