Keychains snarled, snapping her sharp teeth at the wiry creature's fluffy tail. The squirrel had been disrupted from its nest by a savaged fox. Someway, somehow that fox climbed up the tree of his home while he was in the middle of a deep rest with his mate when suddenly... BAM! Random fox head!

The piebald vixen snapped her jaws again, this time slamming on the squirrel's tail. The squirrel squeaked his mercies when she suddenly dropped him. Her orange eyes focused on the undergrowth ahead of her. Out of nowhere a band of 5 cats surrounded her east side. She watched them curiously, feeling largely unthreatened by the troupe. Keychains was bigger than most of them.

The squirrel thanked whoever was watching him as he scurried away from the scene.

  • River trotted though the sunny forest. It was at least a nice enough day for a good hunt. The red fox stood in place for a moment soaking in the suns rays. He looked up at the sky and watched a few white puffs of rain dance across the sky. Then came the bird song. The whistling really put him at ease at the end of the day. He stood staring up at the sky.

  • Keychains smiled a foxy smile, baring her teeth at the cats. They snarled and spit her way but when they lashed their claws she dodged and nudged at their tiny rage filled emotions, waving her tail and snapping her teeth in their direction.

So far none dared to get close. They began to speak in their weird cat languages, pointing their tails at the collar around her neck. Growing bored the vixen turned her back on them, certain they would do nothing. All cats are the same, fat with kitty pellets and soft like chicken down.

The piebald vixen made a sound akin to a shriek. Claws bit into her shoulder and sharp fangs into her scruff. She yelped trying to shake the little beast off her. Soon the other cats began to attack her, biting the back of her legs. Being a pet she had never felt pain before... this was too much.

  • River felt like everything about the sunny day had just dropped. He listened, pricking his ears up, to the sound of a fight. Out of curiosity he started to trek forward, towards the sound of battle. What would he find there? A small skirmish, or an all out bloodbath. What he did find was in the middle of bloodbath and skirmish. This was a murder.

He started jog towards the writhing mass. He didn't know how to intervene. Then he started thinking aggressively. He pulled off one of the cats. It hissed at him, so he just bared his teeth at it. He pulled off another by the scruff and threw it too the side. He scratched at the others. On this... Foxes? Or at least he thought, back. He turned around and tried to scare off any cats that stayed.

  • Keychains fear began to boil into rage. She began snarling her own snarls and growling her own threats. One unfortunate cat was knocked over and to her line of vision. The piebald vixen hurled forward, cat on her back and all, and caught the feline by the throat with her sharp teeth. The warrior cat shrieked and clawed at her face but she didn't let go in her anger, shaking the mangily creature for all its worth.

The attacking cats yowled their retreat all swiftly gone but the one stuck to her mouth. One which had stopped fighting not moments ago. She dropped cat and made chase for those cowards but skidded to a stop when she spotted something in the corner of her eye. It was then that she noticed she hadn't done the fighting alone.

  • River scratched at his noise. it had blood starting to well up a little, but that didn't matter. He looked back to see a vixen standing before him, a collar around her neck. This was odd, but as long as she was safe. After all she was another fox. "Are you ok?" He said taking a few steps forward.

He didn't want to scare off the vixen. He just wanted to find out why she was this far away from her human den. He couldn't just leave her either with any possible injuries. He stood there waiting for her to speak. He noticed a cat laying on the ground motionless. That was their choice to attack.

  • Keychains studied him quickly, licking the blood from her muzzle.

Pointy ears + Doggish + Fluffy Tail + Red = Kin

This fox didn't have a collar like she did but that didn't concern her much. He was a fox! She became incredibly excited over the fact but she kept her distance.

At his question she wagged her tail like a dog and trotted over to him. He seemed harmless... to her at least.

"I'm cool!",she chirped, sniffing at his muzzle and then his shoulder, wondering where he had popped out from. The vixen didn't mention her shoulders, neck and left flank felt like they where melting and that if she wasn't careful she would limp due to a strong bite on her ankle. No need.

  • River stared at the vixen, sniffing at him. "What uh... Brings you this far out into the forest?" He was interested with this collared vixen. How did she get away from her humans, or was she just briefly captured? He looked at the collar around her neck. Why did humans use those anyways. Well probably to mark at as theirs, but livings things are not theirs.

"Maybe you want that collar off?" He asked. It looked like it was tight around her neck. He would hate being a humans pet. Especially the forest and the bird song. That food too looked like it was disgusting.

  • Keychains stopped fussing over him and sat down gently, too close for comfort. The piebald vixen didn't know what was socially appropriate for foxes, her humans encouraged this behavior so she thought sitting with her nose to his face was 'OK'.

She looked at this fox intently, almost in awe as if he was a product of her imagination. Her expression grew thoughtful at his question.

What brought her in this forest anyways? What was a forest? She was brought up by her humans since she was a kit, she had never seen another being like her this close besides the mirror in her owners room and the red pointy ears at the edge of the forest boarder.

"I felt... trapped",she said slowly, thinking and looking somewhere at the ground before turning back to him."Burning all over my fur. Then I climbed and chewed. Then I came here". She shrugged at the ending. Keychains was sure this was not a big deal. Her tail batted slowly on the dried leaves of the forest floor.

Collar?. The vixen shook the collar in question. It making a soft tinkling noise. It was a comfort hearing that sound but it was this that had alerted the squirrel den in the first place. She could ask him for his help, for now at least. She could just take it back with her when she went home later. "Sure, go ahead".

  • River looked at the collar, studying it. He grabbed it by his teeth and pulled as hard as he could until it came off. Why would humans want to make collars and choke animals to death? He left the collar on the ground.

River rubbed his nose into the ground, as it started to sting and itch. Those kitty pets sure put up a fight, but he did love a fair fight after all. He lifted his head back, dirt on his muzzle. The one thing he couldn't understand was, why attack something that wasn't bothering you?

He looked up to the sky and felt the warm sun come back as the cloud passed away under the sun. He layed down soaking in the sun, listening to the birdsong once again. The sun felt nice on his back, but unfortunately soon the rain would come and drench the place.

  • Keychains pawed at the collar on the ground before turning her attention to the other fox. She watched him curiously wondering what was wrong with him. When he stopped and laid down she mimicked him and hop crawled closer to him. Then she licked the dirt and blood off his nose, wagging her tail softly.

"What's your name?", the vixen asked simply, looking up at the sky as well. She couldn't tell what was what he was seeing exactly. Maybe it's cause they all look like grey rabbits, she concluded in her mind.

  • He looked back down at the vixen. "My name? My names river. How About yours?" He remembered the how he got that name. He had fallen into the river and was saved by his much older brother. At first his name was sky, but he felt that what his mother called him was more fitting.

Something about this vixen was strange. Maybe it was because of her humans, she was different. He was interested in how she acted. Usually foxes would just thank him, possibly offer him some food and be on their way. Why did she stay?

  • "Nice to meet you, River! Mine's Keychains",she said. The white and red fox bit into her collar and dragged it on top of River's paws. "Cause of these little things",she explained, pawing at the tangle of chains around her dog tag. "My owner's kit put them there".

She left the collar with him and looked around the ground in a distracted fashion trying to find something to do. She then saw the grey and white pelt a few tails away from them and rolled and crawled to it. The vixen poked the dead thing, hopped away as if playing, poked it again, then pulled its tail. Keychains dragged the dead cat across the leaves, kicking them into the air.

  • River mindlessly inspected the collar. Keychains? That was a funny name, but never the less a name was a name. He picked it up by his teeth and put it on it's back. It had some weird human text etched on it. And the feel of the collar was so weird too. He would never come to under stand humans. Even if they spoke his language.

He noticed that keychains had left his side. He turned his head and saw the vixen dragging at something. "Whatcha doin?" He tilted his head at the vixen. He a bit of gray fur hanging out of her mouth. He watched curiously. Was that the cat?

  • "Playin'", she said, voice muffed. She dropped the tail and pushed it so that the cat was sitting down, then placed a large leaf on top of his head. It sat all crookedly, its head lolled to the side and mouth gaping open. Keychains didn't seem notice any of these things, what it appeared she saw was a stuffed cat doll that smelled like iron.

The vixen did realize that it was a dead cat but... it was such a waste to leave it without any use. After dropping a few more leafs around it she looked towards where the cats had retreated before. Do they miss him?,she thought. Will they return? She shrugged and trotted back to River with full intentions of licking his face.

  • River was a little nervous now, that he saw what she was playing with, but he didn't say anything. "We're you uh... By any chance raised by others foxes?" He asked staring at the cat. He did not know what to say. He never believed in any religion, but it just wasn't right to disrespect the dead.

He then saw the vixen come towards Him. He could understand if it was the humans that had raised her to be like this, but even if she was taught this as a pup and then taken away, well he would remember, or was it something humans did to you? Then he Stomach rumbled. He was starting to get hungry. Maybe he would catch something after... This.

  • ooc: Sorry she made your fox nervous. ):

ic: "Nope",she answered quickly. Keychains felt something was off but didn't verbally question it, she just felt she shouldn't lick him right now. The vixen continued on pretending as if nothing had happened but kept her distance again. She felt he was upset but didn't know why. Is there something lurking near by? "No foxes. None. Well... I have seen me. I am like you, right?".

An ear twitched at hearing his belly growl and she trotted away from him. Her amber eyes inspecting her surroundings.

  • Occ: I understand. Your fox is new to the general fox culture

River stood up. He thought about what she had said. 'I'm like you, right?' The question kept floating around in his head. Well of course she was like him, but he felt like she had been cut off from total wilderness. He watched her trot over to the bushes. She looked like she was inspecting something, but what?

He trotted over, curious of what she was up to. He thought hard about the same question. He thought he was just be silly over nothing, but that question really bothered him.

  • Keychains perked her ears towards a small shuffling noise and pounced into the bush, snarling at an unknown creature. Out came running a brown mouse, upturning leaves in its path as it tried to seek refuge under them. The red and white legged vixen, all the while, became stuck... her tail up in the air and body twisted backwards so that her head was only a level lower than where her tail was. She clawed the ground but she remained suspended. When Keychains noticed she was not about to get the mouse she stopped and began to whine softly at it, amber eyes fixed on its location.
