Genevieve, or Gen {Pronounced like Jenn} as most people call her, has always been a rather sweet girl. Though she's incredibly awkward, clumsy, and just overall far from one of the flawless cheerleader type girls that infest her school. She has undeniably clunky looking buck teeth, {which her parents never thought to get braces for} a multitude of freckles, and her hair is usually kind of wild when she doesn't have it tamed in a braid or bun of some kind. She's a bit shy and gawky due to the unease she has about her outward appearance, but once you break past the uncomfortable exterior she really is a kind, gentle young woman. Not at all fit for the hell that's about to unleash itself on the world. Another quick interesting fact about Genevieve is that she rides horses, and actually owns two at a place just down the road from her home.

You're at school today, it's just another run of the mill afternoon, nothing special about it when suddenly over the announcements a lock down take cover drill is announced. Worried but also intrigued all the students comply. It is soon broadcasted that a seemingly rabid man has entered the school and, oddly enough, he's running around biting people. That's when all hell breaks loose. The infection begins spreading rapidly through the school and panic ensues as you make your way out and see that the town is already going insane. Infected run rampid through the streets and everybody is absolutely terrified, nobody knows what's going on. You see Genevieve, running down the street towards the only place she's ever been able to think. You recognize her from one of your classes and decide to follow, wanting to see if she can explain the insanity. She goes right to the barn, and you ask to enter with her, you lock yourselves in to see what you can find out about the disease running rampid, and then when you realize that it's spreading, you decide to escape together, to run, to survive. Eventually in the course of fleeing on your mounts together, through the months of spending all your time in each others company in this freshly raised hell, you fall for each other. But what happens when Genevieve ends up pregnant, and is soon after bitten by one of those things? How will the young couple cope with the harsh reality of what is to come?

So, this is basically a zombie apocalypse type RP c:

  • name; Matthew (Matt)
Matt has short brown hair which can be tamed easily with just the flick of a comb, and his blue eyes contain a cold glare. He is a very curious person, he is very nosy and he likes to know things. He hates being left out of the loop, he adores knowledge and thinks about things very logically, thinking that there must always be a logical and correct answer for everything. He can be a bit brash and harsh, and he is often brutally honest. And though he seems cold and harsh he does have a bit of a soft heart underneath. Matthew also used to love going camping with his dad and he still loves camping in the out doors.

      [li]Hope this is ok. c:[/li]

  • That's great c: Let's begin!

Gen is sitting in biology quietly, gazing out the frosted over window and twirling a pencil around between her fingers. She glances up as he teacher says something about the digestive system of a cow, but she honestly isn't really paying attention, she's off in lala land. She sighs softly to herself and then shifts her gaze over onto her partner, Max... He didn't seem like he liked her all that much; then agan nobody liked the awkward young woman. Genivieve perks up when the loud speakers crackle to life and the voice of their principle Mr. Perry begins booming over them. "Students and faculty, if for the time being you could please assume the lockdown take cover positions it wouod be greatly appreciated. There has been a disturbance and it would seem it has gotten past security, no need to panick it shoud be sorted very quickly." Gen frowns at thr announcment but complies, shifting back into the corner with everybody else as the teacher hustles around for a few moments turning thngs off and locking things before joining them on the floor.

  • Matthew kept his eyes on the teacher, catching into each word they uttered. It wasn't like he loved school, he just enjoyed learning new things. Science and maths were his favourites, they were both so precise and yet one contained many theories and the other was very set. His cold blue eyes watched the teacher and his concentration didn't break. He believed that everything you learned had a use one day, though others often complained. He however did not see any reason to, really school was just helping them. A deafening crackle cut through the murmuring of the teacher. Everyone in the class was silenced, from the teacher, to the chatting people.

The message was heard all round the school and the kids in his class immediately followed their orders like blind mice. But he went more slowly, he was curious about what exactly was running around. They could have at least said physco man with a gun or something. Wouldn't that be a much better way of encouraging them to hurry up. For now he didn't have enough information to confirm that his life was really in danger. He continued sitting at his desk, pointing a glare at everyone. The teacher sighed, it was a wonder that he even managed to handle someone like Matt. But after a stare off Matt backed down and let out a loud sigh, moving to where everyone else was huddled like penguins in a blizzard. He didn't say a word and yet his actions and expressions said it all. If he had spoken he would've said, this sucks. Well, it was indeed what he was thinking. He really wasn't taking the lockdown seriously at all.

  • Gen sits on the floor among all her peers quietly and they look around boredly, not really sure what to do. A mere ten minutes later the loud speaker crackles to life again, this time the principle sounds rather panicked. "Faculty, at this time I ask you to please evacuate your student from the school. Please at all costs try to avoid using the halls... The situation it's serious, and we- Mrs. Robinson? Are you all right?" then all of sudden the microphone is dropped and a scream can be heard along with a sputtering gutteral moan. Gen pales cobsiderably and jolts upwards along with everybody else, looking to the professor for instruction.

  • Matt didn't care about the lockdown of course, he sat there staring at the board with an empty expression. A longing expression. Ten minutes passed by but it felt like years, the clock ticking painfully slow.

The speaker came to life again, this time with the panicked voice of the principal. Once he heard that they were to evacuate school he was worried, the situation must indeed be dire. Except he still had no idea what it was. The scream chilled his bones, and the moan was no better. This definitely wasn't some high class prank, no, it seemed that their lives could be in danger. But he didn't know from what.

"Um, sir. How exactly are we going to get out without using the main halls?" he asked curiously, of course he would be the first one to speak. The first one to attempt to get some answers.

  • "We'll use the window, we have a rope ladder in here somewhere." He mutters thoughtfully and hustles over to his desk, appearing distressed himself. Gen stands hurrily along with her peers and begins helping him search for the ladder. They soon find it and he hoists open the window, attatching it to the sill and beginning to let students down. Gen goes first, then Matt, then the other students all in turn. Soon after they begin heading down the scream can be heard from the room and then more gutteral moans. Gen hurries around to the front of the school and blanches at the sight before her. Things that appear to be walking corpses are stumbling around the streets, a few appear to be eating still living people. It's like a scene from some kind of fucked up horror movie.

  • Matt nodded, glad to have kept things moving. He didn't know what there was to be frightened, but of course it was right urge the teacher along. If it really was that urgent then they probably should pick up the pace.

As soon as the ladder was found the teacher started helping the students. A girl went before him, and then Matt went, climbing out of the window fearlessly. He ignored the scream behind him, not daring to think about what was there. He could get answers later.

Matthew wasn't quite sure where to go, he was disorientated and confused. It was meant to just be a normal day, learning, being bored. As he rounded the corner to the front of the school he stopped in horror. It was unexplainable, the people mindlessly wandering the streets. They didn't seem to be alive, they were simply empty shells and he grimaced as some dug into the guts of what had once been a human. He shuddered in disgust, this was completely illogical. What were these impossible things?

He couldn't get home from here, it was too far on foot. His blue eyes scanned the area, searching for someone he knew. He spotted Gen, the girl from his biology class. It wasn't like he talked to her much, but maybe it was worth talking to her.

  • Gen quietlly looks around her b for a moment, terror evidentbon her face as she turns and her gaze locks with Matt's for a moment before b it shifts behind him and she cries out, "M-Matt! L-Look out!" And then a hand claps onto her arm and a groan sounds from behind her. She lets out a shriek of absolute horror and she wrenches her arm from the grip and then whirls around on her heels and begins running. She runs towards the only place she'd ever been able to think, where she knew there would be comfort and protection; the barn. It wasn't far from the school, she actually would often walk their after classes.

  • Just as he began towards her she called out to him in a panic, to look out. He spun around, his hopeful smile disappeared and he simply froze in shock. Two of the stumbling corpses were right there behind him, reaching for him with mangled arms. He backed up a bit, carefully watching his step. A shriek broke his concentration and he saw Gen slip from the grasp of one of the things. He didn't even know what exactly to call them right now. He was still not processing it.

Matt saw the girl break into a run, it looked like she knew where she was going. He smiled, all he had to do was follow her. He'd be ok, so he broke into a run, his arms powering him forward. Thankfully he was reasonably fit, otherwise by now he'd be panting. As he continued to close in behind Gen he saw where she was headed, a barn. With each step they got closer. Hopefully she'd let him hide with her, though they didn't really know each other that well. She easily had to right to kick him out if she so wished. But he didn't want to be stuck out in the middle of the choas, so he decided to risk it.

  • Gen sprints hard the whole way down the road to her barn and then speeds up the driveway. She fumbles clumsily with the keys to the garage style door, tears rolling down her cheeks and her heart thundering painfully in her chest. She lifts the door open hurriedly and whirls around as she hears approaching footsteps. When her eyes land on Matt she doesn't say a word but simply motions for him to follow her as she ducks down inside the barn. She swallows hard and shoves the door shut after they're both inside the dimly lit establishment and she clamps on a padlock before turning to face the male. "Alright, do you have any idea what the hell is going on?" she asks, her voice wavering quite a bit.

  • She was going just as fast as him and he almost got left behind. His feet pounded on the pavement and it seemed that she heard him. She didn't open her mouth once as she beckoned him inside, he wasted no time and ducked inside before she locked the door. He sat on the floor for a moment, his heart thumping with adrenaline. His breaths came quick and he still felt a bit in shock, it all felt like only a second had passed since he was still in the classroom.

The girl from his biology class looked at him, obviously terrified. He gulped. "I honestly have no clue. I'm just as confused as you. I mean, it's beyond all possibility. Those things don't even seem human." he said, his voice panicked. He still couldn't shake the memory of the things eating humans, he couldn't stop seeing bloody guts spilled everywhere.

  • Gen's face twists in something like panick and then she whirls around and hurries off into another room. She moves back to hisside with a small radio a few minutes later and she sets it down in front of him. "You see if there's any news about this on any of the stations I'll try to search the internet." She says and then sits herself down a few feet away from him. She begins feverishely tapping away at her cellphone, searching for something, anything to tell them what the hell is happening in the sleepy little town.

  • Gen surprised Matt as her face turned into one of panic and she rushed off. He sat there for a minute, confused by her sudden actions. But she came back soon enough with a radio. It was a smart idea, surely the news would be blowing up about this. He gently took the radio from her and sat it down in front of him. He was feeling better now, especially since they were taking the logical approach to this. That was good. As he switched through the stations the first few only held static. Then he found a couple with music playing, he stayed on those a little longer than the static ones but of course he continued on. Those obviously weren't news stations. And then he found one, and the person speaking was indeed talking about the problem. Though they called them zombies, something he'd been avoiding as zombies weren't real, they couldn't be. He tapped Gen on the shoulder and pointed to the radio, urging her to pay attention to the reporter as they stated talking. This would surely provide reliable information.

  • Gen perks up and sets her phone aside, scooting closer to him at the radio and eagerly listening to the newscast. The reporter sounds nervous, fearful even, his voice is strained and slightly hushed as he relays the information he's been given.
"The entire state of Texas had been reduced to utter wasteland at this point and this infection is spreading rapidly. We are getting in reports of these creatures, we'll call them zombies for lack of a better term, from Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, Arizona, California and a few other scattered states. We DO NOT yet know the causebif this infection. Martial troops are being sent into infected areas to recover any surviors. Please, cannot stress this enough, even if you are safe somewhere, getbout onto the MAIN STREETS. The soldiers cannot and will not be searching houses or back roads for survivors. We also urge you to---
And then the line becomes static and Gen hops to her feet and heads straight into another back room, emerging with two saddles, two sets of saddly pads, two bridles and two sets of leg wraps for her horses. She discards the tack carefully on the ground and pulls out the first horse, a big bay gelding. She does a haohazard brush down on the creature as as she does she looks over at Matt, "Ever ridden a horse?" She asks quietly.

  • Matt smiled at Gen before turning back to the radio. He listened intently to each shaky word that the reporter spoke, saving it to memory. He frowned, the entire stare? Whatever it was, it definitely was going out of control. And the 'zombies' were spreading to other states too it seemed. It made him uncomfortable, he hoped that they found out how it happened soon. But for now thee was nothing he could do. Just as the reporter was about to warn something the radio fizzled out into static and he sighed. He turned the radio off, just as Fen disappeared from the room. What on earth was that girl doing? His blue eyes widened when she returned with saddles and riding equipment. But the biggest shock was the horse that she brought out, were they really going to go out there. "I've only ever ridden once, but that was ages ago." he admitted. To be honest, horses scared him a bit. But he wasn't about to tell Gen that. "But it should be easy right?" he said confidently, getting up and moving over to the horse.

  • "With this big guy it should be... He basically rides himself, you just have to let him know where you want to go. His named Cal." She says as she throws the tack on and hands off the reigns to Matt so she can get her own mount ready. She hurriedly grooms and tacks up her second pet, anxiety evident in the tensness of her body and the unorganized way she flits about. "Should we wait here for the relief or try riding the back trails down a few towns over?" She asks once her horse is ready. A couple towns down was a much larger more prominant area, where the soldiers would probably go first.

  • Matt nodded at Gen, still a little overwhelmed. Well, at least this horse would be an easy ride. He stroked the side of Cal gently, accepting the reigns from Gen as she rushed about. She definitely didn't rush around, where as he liked to ponder things.

He could tell that she was anxious, darting around like a mouse being tailed by a cat. He honestly didn't feel the need to put so much energy into it. They were fine for now, they could've at least gone a little slower. But he didn't want to argue with her.

"Riding the back trails to a couple towns down sounds good," He said, running his hand through his brown hair. He then could probably take a quick look at what had happened around him. He was so curious that he could practically feel his curiosity becoming a living being that forced him outside. "Alright, ready?" he asked, keeping a firm hold on the reigns.

  • Gen nods and hurries over to the door, unlocking it and hoisting it upwards before leading her horse out. She pales considerably at the sight she comes to, these zombie like creatures have invaded the property and a few are already stumbling towards the little group. She lets out a soft, almost inaudible whimper and pats her horses neck to comfort both herself and the antsy animal. She then hurriedly hoists herself up into the saddle and gives the nervous mare a little nudge and she spins in a circle to face Matt as he clambers up onto the gelding. "He should just follow her as long as you give him a little kick." she says quietly and glances around nervously before nudging her horse into a jog and heading towards the trail, skirting around the infected people.

  • Once they left the shelter there was no going back, not with a few zombies now heading towards them. Their walking was slow and rigid, a dead corpse trying to steady itself with each step. Matt quickly clambered onto his horse, remembering to swing his leg over. He was glad that he knew how to sit on a saddle at least. He nodded at Gen, surprisingly not really worried about the advancing bodies. He gave Cal a kick in the side, gentle and yet incredibly firm at the same time. The horse started off, obviously a little nervous about the zombies. But as Gen had said he followed the horse in front of him, sticking to the trail. As they headed down further the zombies began to thin out, there definitely would be a lot fewer round here. He assumed that most of them would be in the town for now. Which was good for them. He kept silent, not really wanting to start a conversation at first.
