The sky was littered with thousands of stars. In the middle of the sky was a large moon. It was full. From the shadows of the alley came a silent figure. Cloaked in black to mimic the shadows, he grabbed hold of a passing human, pulling him into the shadows, muddling the screams with a hand. "That's right," he purred, licking the man's neck. "Scream. No one can hear you." One bite was all it took to gain a loud shriek from the human.

Sapphire heard the terrible cry coming from the alleyway not to far from where she was walking. She gasped in fear. What should she do? Should she call for help? Overwhelmed with fear the sixteen year old girl gingerly walked towards the alleyway, she peered around the corner of the alley and saw the horrible murder taking place. Sapphire let out a cry and quickly retreated, hopping that the thing didn't see or hear her. Her breathing was hard and shaky. She kept herself pressed against the building.
-
The creature lifted his head at the new voice, blood coating his mouth and chin. He grinned, tossing the human He was feeding from aside like a ragdoll. Silently, he slid toward the girl, keeping his body in front of her exit. "Hello beautiful," he purred darkly, fangs glinting in the moonlight.
-
Sapphire let out a small wail and sank to the ground, staring up at the creature that loomed before her. She was unsure of what to do now, she had no chance of escape. She was as good as dead. Fear consumed her and Sapphire drew her arms protectively over her head and began to sob. "Please don't kill me!" she cried feebly, "What do you want?" Sapphire kept her eyes shut despite the hot tears that burned her cheeks.
-
The vampire looked up at the moon and grinned, looking back at the girl with vicious crimson eyes. Calmly, he gripped her forearm and lifted her to her feet. "I want to know," he purred, breathing against the nape of her neck. "If you want to see the world a different way."
-
Sapphire opened her eyes a little to look at the vampire. Curiously she asked, "What do you mean?" She could feel his hot breath on her neck and she shuddered.
-
"You could see the creatures the so called Protectors have been blinding your kind to," he murmured, slowly opening his mouth to reveal the sharp canines th ads t hung there, though he did so when he had pulled away as though not to scare the girl. "Go on," he purred, tapping one of the deadly fangs. "I won't bite. " He was inviting her, though his senses told him to fee. Something about this one was different.
-
Sapphire slightly relaxed but everything in her head was telling her to break free and run. "I thought vampires weren't real," she muttered half to herself frowning. Using one arm she whipped the remaining tears away and looked at the creature. He seemed real enough. But how did she know if this was real or it was just someone playing a cruel trick. Sapphire dismissed the idea. She glanced back towards the alley. "You killed someone back there... I saw it..." She murmured.
-
"I don't kill without a reason," he rumbled softly. "I merely fed. After all, there's a death penalty on killing a human."
-
Sapphire looked at him, her eyes wide with curiosity and surprise. "Really?" she squeaked. She was fascinated and wanted to hear more about the strange world.
-
He nodded and looked out toward the moon. "Oh yes," he rumbled, letting the moonlight bathe his skin. "Unfortunately, that law only stretches to my kind. To the vampires. The Wolves get off easy on that." He chuckled softly, looking to the girl. "Where are my maanners? I am Eric Donnelly."
-
Sapphire smiled at Eric shyly. "I'm Sapphire," she said and then added softly, "Do you think you could tell me more about your kind?"
-
Eric shrugged. "We're Bloodsuckers," he rumbled in amusement. "We are broke into two kinds of vampire. Those that feed on animals, called vegetarians, and those that feed on humans, carnivores. Luckily, most human feeding vampires can learn to control their...killing ratio. I am one of those. They are the vampires who have to constantly keep themselves well Fed in order to prevent an accidental drain. If they miss a feed, there's higher risk of a human going missing and turning up dead." He licked at his fangs go a moment.
"The vampires you have to be careful of are the Starving vampires. They'll happily kill if it means blood."
-
Sapphire listen with rapt attention, her eyes wife and glimmering with childish curiosity. "Do vampires burn in the daylight?" Sapphire asked, "Like in those old stories?".
-
Eric Donnelly
He gave a rumbling laugh and shook his head. "No," he rumbled. "When we stay full Fed, we can live among you humans in daylight. However, as far as the Starving vampires are concerned, those old stories are true."
-
Sapphire thought for a moment. She glanced over Eric's shoulder and saw a black shape stalking them. It let out a low grumbling sound. "Uh... What is that?" Sapphire voice shook as a pair of yellow eyes glared back at her.
-
Eric Donnelly
He inhaled and bared his fangs, turning so that he was between Sapphire and the creature. "Wolf," he snarled, tensing his muscles. "You know this is vampire territory!" He shouted to the creature.
-
Sapphire shuddered as the wolf bore it's fangs and let out a sinister laugh that sounded like nails dragging across a chalkboard. "Do you think I really care who's territory is who's?" The wolf growled and took a few paces forward. "That's a fine little gem you got there. Tell me, vampire, what are you doing with a human?" It's black fur bristled and it snarled. "No matter what the reason, I've been feeling rather hungry. How about we make a deal? Give me that pretty thing you have behind you and I won't come back here," it sneered at Sapphire and she let out a frightened squeak.
-
Eric Bradley
He crouched low, arms spread though one was pushing Sapphire behind him. "You cannot have her," he snarled, eyes becoming violent. "Get your dinner elsewhere, beast!"
-
The wolf's fur bristled to sharp razor points. It let out an impatient growl. "Fine, so be it," the wolf snarled, "I'll take her from you!" The wolf let out a shape bark and lunged at Eric and Sapphire. Sapphire screamed and covered her head and squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for razor sharp teeth to tear into her flesh.
