────────────────────────── ★ ──────────────────────────
indent In the beginning there were no kingdoms, no villages, not even groups of people living together. The biggest group to be found were the small family groups - tribes - of parents with their children and the elderly. Everyone had a nomadic lifestyle, constantly moving, leaving nothing but ashes of used fires behind them and shards of bone from the meals they ate. Groups fought over the best sites to make camp, the best areas to find good food resources, the best places to to drink clean running water. To solve these problems, alliances were made, bribes were exchanged, marriages were formed. Some of these held for moons at a time, while others lasted mere days before the leaders of each group were pressing crude, sharpened bone knives to each others' throats. Men were killed, women forced, children used as bargaining tools or taken as slaves. The people had lived like this for thousands of years, fighting their own kin and killing their prey with snares and bare hands. Some groups were starting to settle down in the best areas and fight off anyone who dared to try and eradicate them. Over time, the groups became bigger. Allies stayed together so to better fight others. They found that in bigger groups they could hunt larger prey, find more roots and berries and herbs. Some people began to specialize in treating wounds and illnesses, experimenting with herbs on their companions and spreading the information of which ones worked.
indent It was in this time of peace, of people coming together and sharing stories instead of spat insults that two boys were born. Twins, born to a man and his mate who ruled over a large area of land, allowing others to live there and prosper. One had hair of shocking, almost white hair and the other of the deepest onyx. They received the names of Rhael Sunkit and Bade Moonkit. As they aged, it became apparent that Rhael excelled in the art of war, able to fell a man with just a glancing blow of his fist. He was easy to anger and quick to judge and as his grew he became a young man that no one would wish to cross. He most often came to the defence of his brother, who was as unlike him as two twins could be. Bade was confident but soft-spoken, only voicing his opinion when it really mattered. He was wise beyond his age and always seemed to be calm, too calm. While Rhael had a tendency to rush to a fight, Bade was the one who had the most obvious, strong moral compass. He proved to be relatively good at both hunting and fighting, though not enough to stand out, especially next to his war-lusting, battle-skilled brother. Nevertheless, they stood by each other, helped each other, and were the halves that made the perfect pair.
indent Upon their naming day, when they turned eighteen years of age, the two were given their meaning names. As they had learned, they had changed from Rhael Sunkit and Bade Moonkit to Rhael Sunpaw and Bade Moonpaw. Now, as they stood side by side, chins raised and chest puffed out, clad in furs and the wool of the newly-domesticated livestock called sheep, the two were renamed Rhael Sunclaw and Bade Mooncloud. Over the years they had served their father and his closest men (he called them "warriors") well, fighting besides them as they extended their land. A kingdom had been born as they grew and, with their father now old and their mother dead, they were also given joint rulership. And so the two boys, the twins, became the first known kings.
indent The twins kept their father's warriors, and decreed a new rule: all children, male and female, would be trained to become warriors themselves. In the first few years, a warrior had to train a selection of youths, for there were not enough warriors and too many children. To add to this, close family members were not allowed to train each other. It was complicated to begin with but in a matter of months everything settled. The kings were the ones to perform the ceremonies at the end of each apprentices' training, and in a matter of fifteen years the number of warriors had risen from a meagre twenty to two hundred and fifty. They were allowed to retire once they reached an age where it became dangerous to fight any longer, although the newly accomplished healers had prolonged lives and learnt to heal otherwise mortal wounds by that time. These years were a time of peace, of plenty and of population growth, for the citizens of this new kingdom had no need to fight amongst themselves any more. Couples began to get together not because they needed to settled feuds, but because they wanted to.
indent Years passed like this. The number of warriors began to grow, along with the population. Soon the kingdom was bursting at the seems and something had to be done. It was King Rhael who, with the wise council of his twin, decided to lead a section of their finest fighters and extend the kingdom. And so the man left his brother on the thrones once occupied by them both. He left the main area of his kingdom, the newly built castle on the banks of a as-yet unnamed lake that lead to the sea, in the care of one where once it had been cared for by two. But he did not leave King Bade entirely alone: the pair had both married beautiful women, who in turn had gifted both of them a small harem of children. Even though they were both now at forty years of age, each child was young, younger than seven years old.
indent After ten years, there was no longer any way for Bade to deny the truth: his brother was dead and never to return. At fifty, he was old for a man of that time, and his pale hair was now a true white. His own wife had died and he had not dared to marry his brother's widow. Yet there was a way to secure the future of his realm: he married his oldest son to his brother's oldest daughter, for there were only two thrones and both were the same age, born on the same day and both equally entitled to become rulers themselves. So he married them off, and later that night, when the celebrations were still at full swing, he woke from his slumber. It was the light of the moon that woke him, full and bright. The man swung out of his bed and slipped on a cloak, holding it around his frame. Hesitantly, careful not to be spotted, Bade walked down to the lake's bank, feeling the sand under his bare feet and the light of the moon on his face. Even there, it was foggy: it had always been so, and it was the place he waited for his brother to return. He never had, but on that night, a ship emerged from the gloom. It would not have been seen if not for the moon and for the single candle that burned on it's bow, the flame yellow and the wax scarlet: his brother's colours. A gangplank was lowered and without a second thought the old king boarded. The ship left the lake.
indent That night, two new stars joined the sky, taking up places next to the north star.
────────────────────────────────── ★ ──────────────────────────────────
indent Life was good for the new kingdom for a very long time. King Edur Snowfoot and Queen Helena Lightface took to their thrones after the first two Kings. This King was famous for his charitable nature and speed, while his wife was fabled for her pretty looks. Over time, they had seven children: Kieran Blackpaw, who sadly died as a child; Burdett Sparrowtail, who would become King after his father, though he ruled only for a few months; Ciel Cloudface, who had her mother's beautiful looks; Geneva Juniperfur, who married one of the first dukes; Margaret Whitestream, the youngest girl with excellent swimming skills; Beore Birch-heart, who had a clear sense of right and wrong and inherited the throne after Burdett; and lastly Orick Oakclaw, who had inherited his grandfather's skill in fighting.
indent Time passed. The throne passed from father to son down the generations, spawning many legendary leaders, such as Molan Stormfang and Aiden Firewhisker. And as time passed, the kingdom grew and so did it's wealth. Soon the Kings were rolling in gold hills and giving out polish jewels to their favourites. War was seldom and the common people of the kingdom were happy. People were living for longer and creating businesses. Some were getting jobs making clothes, others were building taverns. But as the kingdom grew and became famous, creatures of the night began to lust for the power it would bring. Six hundred years after the first kings, giant fire drakes game from all directions, joining forces and laying waste to the building and the people.
indent Chaos ran rampant. People burnt in the flames sprouting from the dragon's mouths, children lost their mother's, men murdered each other to get some of the last loaves of bread and joints of beef. The king took refuge with his family in a smaller, hidden castle in the forest, and the warriors fought desperately to kill of the tarragons with catapults and arrows. Blacksmiths worked desperately to forge more steel cannons, flint knappers breaking flint to make arrowheads, their apprentices finding as many birds, dead or alive, as they could and plucking them of their feather to fletch the arrows. Everyone was trying to survive or leave, to run away from their homes in the slightest hopes of living another day longer. The refuge the king had sought was set on fire, along with the trees around: he barely made it out alive, and most of his immediate guard and all his children perished.
indent From the ashes rose a young man, tall and thin, with dark hair and hazel eyes. His name was Herensuge Longclaw, and he was the newest member of the knights. At only sixteen, he was not thinking of greatness and certainly not born to it, for his parents were farmers and his sister a widow. But for his people he fought, and he fought bravely. He was incredibly intelligent and creative, designing a pair of massive steel arrows that were joined by a chain. The shafts of these arrows were barbed so they could not be removed, and the arrowheads themselves were sharper than anything else known, and were capable of slicing through rock with enough force. Herensuge had to design a huge, colossal cannon that would allow them to take flight and enlist a mob of his comrades to work them. He promised everything he could to the blacksmiths who made them, but it was the promise of their lives that sealed the deal. And when the time came, the young man acted as commander, as general to his lot, and he even manned one of the cannons himself. Slowly but surely, the dragons were either killed or sent packing by his invention. When it was all over the king attempted to step down and give his throne to the man, but he refused. Instead he was named general of all the armies and became known to the smallpeople as Herensuge Longclaw the Dragonslayer.
────────────────────────────────── ★ ──────────────────────────────────
indent The Age of Freedom is, by far, the most peaceful age the kingdom has ever had. While the Age of Dragons lasted for ten years through from the beginning to the end of the aftermath, this age lasted for near two hundred years, under the rule of three kings who were wise and kind. It started once the kingdom was rebuilt from the ashes, with the former king's nephew ascending to power. At first, he was content with his happy kingdom, but started to notice the way his court treated their servants. That was the kind name for them, for they were, in reality, slaves. Their ancestors had been prisoners of war and their families had continued to serve the victors. Most of his peers treated them as nothing more than scraps of dirt on their best shoes, not afraid to strike them in public or, in some cases, end their lives for not serving them "properly".
indent Before this new King could finished the process of bringing in a new law to stop the ownership of slaves, however, he perished of disease. His son did not wish to carry on trying to pass this law, for he saw no need for it; instead, he passed a low that prevented slaves from being harmed. It was meet with anger from the nobles and all he had to do was threaten them with death for them to be quiet. It was a wise, strategic move, for it forced them to shut their mouths, however unhappy they were. Life remained in peace as he grew into old age, fathering a small army of fourteen children, eleven girls and three boys. Yet his oldest son did not share the same views of his father; he was practically his grandfather reborn and he hated to see the slaves still being treated ill, hit with barbed words instead of hands. So when he became King, Brarn Ravenheart began to process his father's father had started one hundred and twenty four years beforehand.
indent In time, it was passed. It became illegal to own slaves. Every slave was presented with a scroll of parchment that released them from their service of the noble families. They were each given five pouches of gold to purchase homes for themselves should they wish to and until they found a job they were also given a small allowance each month to buy food and pay the rent. Within five years most slaves had managed to create a new life for themselves. By the end of Brarn's reign the new life was settled.
───────────────────────────────── ★ ──────────────────────────────────
indent The time of Earnest Hawkstar, previously known as Earnest Hawkthunder, was upon the realm. He was a mature, serious leader who commanded respect just from walking past someone. He was wise, offering shelter to those who needed it. Soon after he became King, Earnest offered shelter to a young woman. They quickly fell in love, though it took time for them to admit it, and he made Filomena Melodyheart his Queen. Unfortunately, soon after she was leaving with a small group at her side, to go to a kingdom far away and offer her help: without knowing, she rode away with the heirs growing in her womb. Upon her return, she had twin four year olds, a girl and a boy, now known as Calla Rosesong and (name here.)
The children grew happy in their years but as time went it on (name here )took control of the kingdom and married his younger sister Calla off to The prince now king of whiterose . Calla was sad and heartbroken feeling betrayed by her own blood. But she soon died after she gave birth to her daughter Serenity Ashlynn Whiterose. Feeling guilty the king had demanded that his niece be brought up by him as to her father was not fit and already engaged to other woman. She would simply be burden so they covered it up with that both Calla and the baby were dead. A large funeral was held for King (name here') sister many grieved the queen's death. Though her daughter being raised secretly by the royal family. The realm is at peace. But there tension between the the kingdom of white rose and the kingdom of Dusk. Will there be a war ? Who knows

"Welcome to Esterwyvern, the kingdom of stars and mystery. Soft wooden hills are rising from the ocean at the east up to the northern border formed by a row of mountains. Thick forests, lakes and ruins. A mystical place. You may be surprised by the people there too. Aware of their past, awaiting their future.
If you enter, you will surely never forget what you experienced here."
the castle newmont
▬▬ • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Newmont. The main city, the big castle, the center of the Kingdom. The power of the King unites with the life of the easy knights. It is the place to sleep but although to work and train. The strong walls build up a massive defence only interrupted by the gates for the merchants and everyone who seeks to visit the castle.

The walls and main buildings are build out of bright brown stone, supported by brighter and darker stones. While the castle is rather plain from the outside - the inside is sparkling from architectural masterpieces. Pillars and arches, decorated with ornaments. The ground is even with light creamy colored tilting - different pattern leading you through the halls.
Inside the castle the tilting is even brighter and you find even more decorated pillars lining the ways. There are three different zones in the building. The first one is guarded by a rather low wall. Behind these you can visit the market on the right or the training places on the left.
Right behind you're lead to a big place. If there isn't a festivity celebrated you will find your way to the stables, the smith and the entrances to the three main-buildings.
The left main building includes the dorms for the knights and lower positioned residents. While the dorms are find upstairs you're lead into a hall to eat, dance and laugh.
The right main building is called "Dorms of Knowledge". Here you may find the library, the healer and his student and the higher positioned knights and the wise men of the Kingdom. Besides there is a tall room to teach everyone who is interested in history, reading and writing.
Of course is the main building for the Royal Family. Not only the direct family of the actual King may live there, but also the wife and kids (as far as there are any) of the dead kings. It's the tallest building including different halls.
As it is needed for a castle you're going to find a big hall for celebrations and festivals there too. Even the Kingdom is rather rich, the halls are not filled with gold - only enough to give the whole room a glowing, warm and sunny shine, especially with candles lighting the whole room.
Politics are discussed in a special room, which you will reach if you go left after you entered the main building.

the forest swyndale & oldbarrow

A thick green forest is surrounding the castle, only interrupted by the few rivers and pathways, that will lead you safely through the forest. If you should be afraid of the darkness you should stay on the pathways. Deep inside the forest are creatures hidden, only waiting for someone lost...
In case you shouldn't be afraid of it, the shadows will lower their heads and revealing a mystical place. The sun will touch the ground with golden waves, inviting you to come deeper - into Sywndale. You may encounter a tiny brook or a green meadow to pick up the early dew. Ruins and little lakes hide under the green top. Fawns will cross your way as do smaller animals.
You have to know that Swyndale just isn't a forest. There is one part - Oldbarrow, where the oldest and the highest trees are reaching for the sky. The ground never touched by the light of the sun. It's also called the "Silent Forest" since there are no birds singing here. The only sounds are the breath of the trees. Maybe you are lucky enough to meet the Royal stag - a very tall stag with giant antlers. No one knows how long he lives in these forests - maybe even always.
But be aware - the forest lives, so you should rather treat it well.

the ruin lornesse & rosebourne
▬▬ • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Many years ago, Dragons and humans lived in an endless war. Humans killed by dragons - dragons killed by human. While the war is over by now and the kingdom rebuild you still can find left-overs from the destructions. Ruins, covered by moss and ivy and other plants. Hidden deeply in the forest, they tell about the past

One of them, relatively near to the castle - but known only a few,is claimed by the youngsters. They named it Lornesse, after a girl many tales are told about. She was born to a family of travellers. As a young adult she fall in love with a rich boy from Newmont. No one was against their relationship, but she just wasn't born for a life at the castle with a daily routine. She left, travelled the world. But once a year the two of them met at a secret place in the forest. The boy had continued his life, got married - only for this one day he was the young boy again.
It's a place where everyone lay down their rank. No one owns a higher position - or a low one. Eye to eye they plan adventures, jokes, invent games, hunt and flee from the dry rules of the life in the castle. Out there they are free, not bound to any orders - they just can live their life there. Sometimes they meet for a special festival. The make a fire, eat their fresh hunted prey and dance deep into the night, celebrating their freedom. Words told there, echo for years. Promises made there, are never broken. Secrets - never leave this place. A bit nearer to the castle their is another ruin, much smaller but still with the mystical aura. Lovers often meet their, or old friends who want to talk in peace. It's call Rosebound. First for the thick bushes of roses growing there. Second for the bounds spoken there in the past.
the lake aldlake & eastloch
▬▬ • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Aldlake - another secret place. It's not the best hidden secret, since nearly everyone knows about it. But it's aura is kept safe. You will never find too many people there - most times only one, two or three.
This lake is hidden deep inside the forest, feed by a little river which flows underneath the earth. Crystal-like the water rest in the deep hollow and if you don't master the art of swimming you should never leave the bank. One side of the lake is narrow and end with a little beach with dark black sand.

Mostly visited to bath at hot summer days it is a calm and relaxing place for those who seeks to be alone with their thoughts.
There is a legend saying, that down at the lake at the deepest point a mystical creature hides. It should be related to the dragons, but it was born without wings. Outcast from the other dragons, little one hide himself deep in a hollow and cried for years. Tears filled the hollow, burying the young dragon. By now he is still down their, watching the world through the surface only revealing himself to those with the saddest souls.
While Aldlake is small lake, Eastloch is the lake most important to the kingdom. The big river ends there and the lake is the only way to the ocean. The water is green and you will mostly see big ships travelling from Newmont down to the harbor where the lake opens into the big ocean. A white bank is surrounding the lake, giving enough place for the people to enjoy the summer, take a bath and celebrate what ever there is to be celebrated.
In the history of Esterwyvern this lake has in important role. The two brothers, the King of the Moon and the King of the Sun both left the living world to join the nightsky on this lake. Once a year the whole kingdom celebrate this day of their beginning.

Green water beat with low waves against the dark wood. White sails shiver under the wind. With the wind the taste of salt settles down on your skin. The fog is thick and heavy.

You're not sure where you are sailing. There - the first lights. And very slowly the fog begins to light up. White buildings, a wall. Voices are carried to your ear. And seagulls lead you save into the harbour.
Fogmere owns this name for one reason - the fog. The whole harbour is surrounded by a big cloud of fog. But that doesn't effect the importance. Fogmere is the center of trading. Treasures from the whole world are arriving here and later being brought to all the villages of Esterwyvern. Products like bows and weapons, accessories about dragons and the mystical creatures of Swyndale will travel on ships over the oceans to kingdoms longing for those.
But the fog is dangerous too. If you're not watching out your ship my collide with rocks or with something far more horrible. Many tales are told about monsters under the sea, coming from the fog.
You should always watch out if you enter these fogs - who knows, maybe you'll hear the song of a siren and fall for it.
the fort northfort & drachall
▬▬ • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Every kingdom needs a military. Of course it would be wonderful of those wouldn't be needed, but sadly the past tells a different story. In the first war against the dragons two forts were build. Northfort is the biggest of the two, settled in the snowy plains in the north with the task to keep everything coming from over the mountains away from the kingdom. Even there is peace again the fort is always manned with at least twenty men.
Near Newmont, settled on a hill you see the tower of Drachall. A special building created to keep dragons which entered the kingdom away from Newmont. As the main city and center of the kingdom, Newmont is the save place in every war, to every one who wants to seek safety. Many dragons were killed by the knights fighting from Drachall.
the villages marblegate & whitegate
▬▬ • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Of course the kingdom not only is build of one big castle. There are many villages spread over the whole kingdom. Some rather hidden in the forest. Some on the few plains, looking after cows, sheep and horses. The two most important villages are Marblegate in the south and Whitegate in the north. While Marblegate is famous for their talented smith and good trained horses. Swords and daggers done their are told to be unbreakable. Thin blades and every sword with a name and sign. These weapons are not made for everyone to use - just for their owner. The suit the character of the one holding them. The horses are the legacy of an old man who once came with a little herd of wild horses. Strong and proud animals. Long limped and muscular. By now there aren't pure-breds anymore - but their childrens. Kings and knights are riding them. The fastest of them are sold to the messengers who travel the kingdom the report the newest happenings and deliver the most important messages.

Whitegate is famous for the special clothes. The sheep living there give a special wool which is part of the most warm and comfortable clothes you will ever find. In cold icy river the special fabrics will be colored in the strongest colors. Both of them are important for the economy and often requested to come to Newmont. On the weekly market at the castle you will surely find some people from there selling their objects and telling you the newest stories.

The north is bare and cold. The forest has ended, leaving a plain land. Even they are a bit away it seems like the huge row of mountains is right in front of you. Always hidden in snow, they received the name "the Silver Mountains". Even it is dangerous to cross the mountains many travellars are coming from the kingdom behind the mountains. It's a peaceful area and in winter, when the snow falls it is a mystical place too. The sun will light up the whole mountains and the snow will shine like fire.
The people living there are the few inhabitants of Whitegate and Northfort always welcoming merchants and guarding the northern gate.

Many years ago, a long time before the first war against the dragons there lived a man called Alastair. The mountains where bare, no snow hiding the tops. He lived there alone - but he wasn't lonely. It was told that he was a master of witchcraft, other said he just told stories. For a long time he was avoided by the people of the kingdom. The king who reigned these times was stingy, gold his only treasure and the people of his kingdom not worth is interest. He didn't cared about anyone but himself until the little child of the king vanished. The turmoil was enormous since the young prince should be the next king. For weeks everyone in the kingdom searched for the boy - but he wasn't found. One day an old man came to the king, suggesting he should search for Alastair. The king was surprised - what should that man there by the mountains has to do with the vanishing of his son. But boy was too important to the king. A few days later he arrived at the mountains. The small house of Alastair stood left alone in the plains. A white deer was standing in front of it. And behind the deer - his son. The king didn't understood and wanted to came closer but a hand had laid down on his shoulder. It was Alastair. The man looked at the king for a while before he was telling him a story. Of a pride king, a blind one. Unaware of the possibilities. And while he told the clouds danced, telling about the future. The kingdom which would be destroyed by this pride king.Frightened the king looked down. His son was laughing, playing around. And this was the moment the king understood what really matters. He nodded at Alastair and returned with his son. Right the next day the king changed everything of his reign and the kingdom blossomed in a bright light. From a stingy and proud king - a fair and gentle king ended a hard time. Under the reign of his son, the kingdom grew even bigger, merchants from the whole world came there to see the shining kingdom.
Years later Alastair was old he sat on his white deer and rode up to the mountains. Right when the sun set he was standing there, at the highest top - smiling. This was the first time it snowed on the mountains. Year after year the winter will now come and remind the people of the values that really matter.
