[justify][color=white]Houston was in the shallow area of a nearby pond, his eyes looking down as he gazed through the semi-clear water, the shadows of fish swimming around his paws. Although the red panda was a vegetarian, he felt that he should try to help bring something back to camp for those who actually enjoyed eating carcasses of things that used to be living. He stayed still for a while, until he caught sight of a nice looking fish. Preparing himself for the right moment, he watched as it swam along, right in front of him, not at all aware of the danger that stand not even a foot away. Without warning, the red panda jumped forward, but all he felt was sand underneath his paws. "You scaly bugger!" He grunted in frustration as all of the fish quickly swam away from him, now knowing that it was not safe to be near the figure that was standing in their watery home.

3 squirrels hang from the bloodied mouth of a Shadowclanner, their bodies only brought to life from the movement of the wind and his steps as he travelled across the territory. He had just ripped into one of the bodies of the more minuscule rodents, and to be quite honest, it was delicious and he wasn't sharing his catches with anybody but himself. He dropped the carcasses beneath a dead bush and buried them promptly, before rising from the green foliage and into the clear shore of the pond. From the shallower areas, Mar lapped up a share of water, the translucent liquid cleaning the speckle crimson from his maw as he hydrated himself. Raising his broad head, the male's eyes flicked about as his ear twitched incessantly at splashing noises, before catching on a familiar figure in the water. Smirking, he called out to Houston, twitching his tail slightly. "I hope you know that you're never going to catch one with that broad skull of yours!"

[justify][color=white]Houston raised his head at the familiar voice and narrowed his eyes, a smile forming on his lips. So Mar thought that some 'swamp rat' couldn't do anything right, eh? Then hopefully some friendly competition wouldn't hurt? "I'd like to see you get your paws wet and do better!" He called back, raising his chin as he watched him. And although the red panda was having his doubts about doing this, figuring that perhaps this guy was a better fisher than him, he still wanted to watch him jump about in the pond.

At the challenge, it seemed Mar let a larger grin slip to his face, a grin of self-confidence. And with that grin, he strode over and sat at the shore, only three words slipping from his dry mouth. "Bring it on." He meowed, turning sideways as he watched the water lapped at the wet grass and strayed closer to his paws as he waited.

[justify][color=white]With a determined nod, Houston looked back down at the water. The fish were beginning to return back to where he was standing, figuring that whatever creature that was trying to capture them had gone. Once more the red panda would wait patiently. That was the secret to fishing. Waiting. Some might find it a bit mundane, but he actually enjoyed the stillness in this process. it was like everything in his world was frozen, but down there, that's where all the life was happening. Everything had it's own rhythm, it's own beat. He was a real nature nerd. Leaning his head forward, his eyes locked on a target, the ShadowClanner would pounce forward. And this time, he actually felt something underneath his paws. Sending his snout through the surface, he bit into the fish and raised it out of the water. He stood there as it flapped around, trying to get out of his mouth. A few times its flailing hit him in the face, but eventually the fish would go limp, tired from its struggles. He looked over at Mar and smiled.

And Mar, he found it as mundane as ever. He was an impatient cat that wanted everything to happen right then and now, no more and no less. And though he had been hunting for about a year and a half, his paws still twitched in anticipation and want to sink his long claws into silver flesh. Admits his thoughts, a shadow struck the pond surface, and his paw flashed out, throwing a tiny sunfish into the air and to the ground. With a morbid grin, the male then proceeded to cut off the head with his claws, deciding to end it's pitiful life there and then. And with that, he gazed Houston. The fish was tiny, but choosers couldn't be choosy, mhm?

[justify][color=white]Seeing that Mar had gotten his first fish, Houston would race back to shore, place his own on the ground, and carefully step back into the water to catch a second. He had to make sure that he stayed ahead of him. He watched as silhouettes of fishes swam by, and quickly struck out a paw, sending one of the scaled creatures out of the water and high into the air. As it came back down, the red panda would stick out a paw to grab it, but it bounced off, causing him to scramble after it. After a while of flipping it around clumsily, it would finally splash back into the water, speeding off.

Mar let out a strangled and pompous laugh at the failure of his challenging partner, a caustic grin lacing his features haughtily. "You're horrible at this swamp rat - er, Houston." The name had slipped out before he could even correct himself, and he quickly flashed his paw into the water to avoid anything that may have come after his sentence. His paw struck clear water and didn't latch into a scaly body, he huffed in annoyance and sat back again, placing his jade eyes on Houston expectantly.

[justify][color=white]Houston would ignore the whole slip-up, noticing how he had corrected himself at the end. Besides, he knew how he was used to calling everyone else that, so surely it must be like second nature to title an individual 'swamp rat'. He would watch as he attempted to catch his second, but would chuckle soon afterwards at his own failure. "Well, you're not so bad yourself, there." The red panda would say in a teasing matter. The fish started to drift back over to him from Mar's turn, so he had some he could pick from. But right as he was selecting a target, a rather large one was floating a few feet in front of him. With a grin, he would jump forward, his paws hitting his mark, but the fish started to squirm rapidly right underneath him, causing him to move around with it. he dug his claws digger into it, but that seemed to make it even more furious, and enough to make it dive deep into the water, dragging Houston down with it. He tumbled around with it in the depths of the pond, trying to pull it back up to the surface, though it was giving him one heck of a fight. It was not about to go down easily. The both of them were growing tired, but his prey had the upper-hand, for it could breath under water, and the mammal could not. He felt his lungs start to burn, and his limbs grow weaker as air was leaking from his mouth. He would bite into the fish's side and use the rest of his strength to pull it upwards with him, and he felt it start to come along. Not long after, the red panda would resurface, the large fish in his jaws as he swam for the shallows. He dragged it back onto the shore and set it down, allowing it to flop around, but was careful not to let it return back to the pond. Breathing heavily, he would look back over at Mar and wait for him to take his turn.

Mar glanced away at the teasing face remaining cool, calm, and bored despite the anger bubbling up inside of him. He couldn't believe he had let himself miss a fish - a fish that he hadn't even seen, but still some sort of fish. It was annoying, so annoying to think that the stupid scrap of fur a few ways away from him was beating him in a game he had been playing since he was 6 moons old. As he looked back, it seemed his fish partner had disappeared, instead splashing down into the deep dark depths below. And Mar grew worried for a bit, racing to the spot as to where Houston had disappeared and gazing into the shallow depths below with minimal concern. He was rude, caustic, and witty, but that didn't mean he wanted others to die - well, others in his new clan. The other clans could die out for all he cared. And as he quickly realized that the male was coming back up, the thin body raced back to his original, spot and gazed at Houston with a judging gaze. "Only an idiot would let a fish take them anywhere." He meowed over, trying to hide the fact that he had a bit of a heart somewhere. And then, he turned to look into the lake, and waited. And then the cycle repeated, flashing his paw into the water, pulling it away fish less, and then scowling over his loss.

[justify][color=white]"We can't all have fabulous features like you, sweet Mar." Houston remarked. It was true, though. Although red panda's were good at their own things, they didn't have vicious claws, sharp teeth, reflexes, et cetera like a feline had. But he was still in the lead, and that was all that mattered to him at the moment. Seeing that Mar had failed again, he couldn't help but let out a giggle. "Do you give up?" He inquired, tilting his head to the side.
