  • Flamepaw padded up beside Hollowsoul,"Hunting training?" The she-cat meowed then scented the air for any sort of prey. She could smell a squirrel, but also something else, which the apprentice could label as a bird.

  • OOC:

@Tigerkt of Sparkclan. Nothing really important, some warriors are hunting for prey.

    Hollowsoul//HeatherClan Warrior

Hollowsoul watched his apprentice as she picked up a scent in the air. He wanted to see if she had improved since the last hunting patrol. He would also teach her some new moves today a well, maybe talk to Lightningtail about training their apprentices together.

  • Foxwing went over to Bearpaw. "Bearpaw are you ready? This is a big day. I'm going to miss being your mentor." she started. "Don't worry Foxwing, I'll visit you everyday and we'll be sleeping in the same den so I won't be far." Bearpaw assured his mentor.

Mistyfall stalked a crow in a clearing filled with sweet grass and sunflowers that reached toward the sky, their pistols facing the sun. The crow had flown in several circles before landing in the middle of a formation of the yellow flora that made a square around the den of a field mouse. It had taken quite a few quarter hours of waiting beneath the holly bushes and watching the black outline of the crow against a sky of puffy white clouds for the large night-black avian to spot his prey upon the ground and swoop towards it, obsidian claws outstretched. Mistyfall heard the squeak of a dying mouse and rushing forward, long tail stretched out behind her. The crow had very little time to celebrate its victory, as at the same moment the mouse perished to dagger sharp fingers, Mistyfall was on the move, her strong back legs propelling her forwards in a flash of white and blue-grey. Seconds later, the warrior had caught, not one, but two pieces of fresh kill and was purring happily to herself in a self-satisfied manner. It would take her a while to return to the spot where she'd buried her squirrel, but her pride bereft her fatigue. A wide smile was plastered across her face.

Coppermask had been waiting a while for Pantherpaw, but either he had missed her words, or she hadn't replied. He raised his head in confusion and then turned to the warrior that had approached him and his apprentice. Hoping he understood, Coppermask tilted his head to the side to show he would listen if the cat had questions.

I was brought but I was kind

  • "Come on let's go tell Silverstar that your warrior ceremony is going to be this afternoon. Then, we'll head out on your assessment." she told Bearpaw.

Bearpaw nodded exitedly and followed his mentor to the leader.

"Good morning Silverstar, how are you this fine morning?" she asked dipping her head in respect followed shortly by Bearpaw.

Cinderfur and Adderfang sat and watched the waking cats. Every so often Adderfang would talk to his unborn kits.
"How many do you think we'll have?" he asked his mate.

"More than two I hope." she responded

  • Flamepaw followed the scent of bird she found and quickly identified it as thrush. On soft light paws she crept up behind the bird and pounced quickly snapping its neck. The ginger apprentice padded back to Hollowsoul, then placed the thrush at his feet.

  • Silverstar dipped her head to Dayshine. "That sounds like a good idea." She flicked her tail and dismissed the deputy, turning her attention to Foxwing. "I am well, thank you." She replied. "How can I be of assistance today?" She thought she knew, but better to ask.

Patchpaw bounded after Rustfang, scenting the air for prey. He looked to his mentor. "I can smell robin." His whiskers twitched. Ears angled, the tortie tom searched around for the source of the scent.

Lightningtail nodded. "Good. Let's see if you can track it." He indicated Sorrelpaw should take the lead. "Try not to scare it off in the process, mind you." His tone showed he was joking. Sorrelpaw was smarter than that. Most of the time, anyway.

Pantherpaw, seeing Coppermask was not going to answer Cloudbelly, knew she had to answer for him. "N-no, I th-think we're o-okay." She stuttered, looking very nervous. "Th-thank you, though." She automatically looked to Coppermask, as if for affirmation, but then quickly averted her eyes. She'd confront him once Cloudbelly left, she told herself. Really, this time she would. And if he got angry... Well, running was always an option, right?

  • "I just wanted to tell you that Bearpaw is going on his final assessment and he will be ready to be a warrior this afternoon." she told the leader proudly.

  • Sorrelpaw nodded, small frame crouching low and nose close to the ground as she stalked forwards carefully. Peering around a small bramble bush, her tail flicked. She had spotted it. Stepping forwards as carefully as she could, she prepared to lunge, but her tail brushed the ground and the prey darted away. "Mouse dung!" the apprentice snarled, lunging after it desperately, but it was no good. The prey had disappeared. She lashed her tail in frustration and she looked back at her mentor.

  • Silverstar nodded. "Alright. Do we want to head out now, for his assessment?" The silver tabby made a point of assessing all the apprentices along with their mentor. It would eradicate any question about favoritism, and she liked to see for herself if the apprentices were ready. It was also easier to keep track of how the apprentice did with two pairs of eyes watching.

Lightningtail came up behind Sorrelpaw. "That was a nice try." He meowed. "Can you tell me what you did wrong?" He tilted his head, tufted ears twitching. The large white tom's tone was patient and encouraging, rather than annoyed or exasperated as another's might have been.

  • Cloudbelly's attention snapped from the mute tom to his nervous apprentice. The tom's lips curved the tiniest bit up as he dipped his head respectively. If the medicine den didn't need any help, something else oughta do the trick. As the warrior exited the den swiftly, a thought pounced like a cat onto a mouse in his mind. Maybe a border patrol needed to be put out. Letting out a soft sigh, Cloudbelly's hardened blue gaze slid to Stormshadow. The brown and white warrior grudgingly padded over, sinking to strong haunches a bit away from the she-cat. A barely identifiable greeting came from Cloudbelly as he groomed white chest fur down.

Rustfang looked up with glossy blue eyes, searching the tree's leaves and branches for the robin Patchpaw mentioned. She did in fact smell it, though only a faint trace. Feathered animals weren't exactly the easiest victims to choose from. "Well birds are pretty hard to catch; they're quick and alert and you can't really chase them when they fly away," she explained to the young tom, her paw gesturing to the sky. "I say we should take a land animal like a rabbit or mouse, but you can still give it a go on catching one if 'ya want."

  • Sorrelpaw frowned thoughtfully. "I moved the grass with my tail, didn't I?" The young tortie looked at her mentor for confirmation, hoping she was correct. She really wanted to get better, because at the moment, hunting was not her strong suit.

  • Foxwing nodded. "I was thinking this morning if you are not to busy." she told the leader. If this assessment went well, she will have succeeded in training her first apprentice

Coppermask flicked his ears in slight disappointment that Cloudberry had truly nothing to say. Though he knew it sounded insensitive even to himself, the times when there were no sicknesses nor injuries were the most boring for medicine cats. He and Pantherpaw thrived off of the pain of others. It was what they worked their lives and limbs for, but he supposed he was lucky there weren't so many medical issues in Heatherclan. If a cat needed his advice, or if Pantherpaw found a disease she didn't know, he would have no way of communicating to help her. Though it pained him, he would have to be brave enough to speak if such a grievance were to occur. It was her life-long duty.
He turned to glance up at Pantherpaw, his amber eyes curious. His apprentice ought to have something to say to him after all this time. She knew it, and he knew it. She needed to speak her mind, maybe more than he did. His long copper tail curled around his paws, and his whiskers twitched patiently.

Mistyfall found the spot where she'd buried her squirrel and dug it up with strong forepaws, muscles straining at the clay hardened dirt. The little rodent had fallen apart a little, it's throat dangling out and crawling with maggots. With a sigh, the she-cat realized she'd been too late to save the precious prey and recovered it in ground with long swipes of her tail and forepaws. It was nothing special, and it certainly wasn't the first time she'd come across such a situation, but it was still a rare occasion. Maybe it was a bad sign from Starclan, but regardless of the fate of the squirrel, she still had a crow and mouse to return to camp with.

  • Silverstar glanced around the camp. "We can go now, if you're ready." Her eyes flicked to Bearpaw. She knew he was the one who had to be prepared, not his mentor. She got to her paws and stretched luxuriously, curling her claws into the ground, lean muscles showing underneath her pelt. Her tail flicked as she straightened up, looking at Foxwing.

Lightningtail nodded. "Yes, just before you pounced you twitched your tail and it rustled the leaves." He smiled encouragingly. "Don't worry, Sorrelpaw. Your technique was solid, you just need to keep more still." He laughed a little. "Though I imagine that isn't your strong suit." His yellow eyes were warm.

Patchpaw was unfazed. "Okay!" The tortie tom meowed happily. He scented the air, eagerly trying to catch the scent of a mouse or vole. He tilted his head as he concentrated, perking up when he thought he had something. "Can I track it?" He asked excitedly, looking at Rustfang hopefully.

Pantherpaw watched Cloudbelly go and swallowed hard. She turned to Coppermask, and found his eyes already on her. She shuffled her paws for a moment, avoiding his gaze. Finally, she spoke. And once she'd started, she found she couldn't stop until she was finished. Even if she was stuttering the entire time. "W-why won't y-you speak to m-me? I-I-I c-can't learn if y-you w-won't teach me! I-I try my h-hardest b-but I can't r-read minds. I don't k-know the n-names of hardly a-anything, never mind their u-uses. P-please... Still, it did feel like one weight had been lifted-- Even if another had landed in its place.
