"no, don't worry about it, you can keep it," he said, holding up his hands behind his head. ok, so this was definitely going to be hard enough. he blew air out of his mouth, gaze flickering over to the top of his tower before going back to pepper. looked like it was going to rain soon. he took a sip of his coffe. "so, about the files .."

    She continued walking, taking in Tony's words. What a surprise there. She didn't think Tony could be so sharing. She chuckled inwardly at that. At the mention of the files, though, she stopped walking. Frozen on the sidewalk, she slowly allowed her gaze to drift up to his deep brown gaze. So warm... she stopped herself. "What about them?" she asked simply, slightly angered at the fact that he had looked, though not surprised whatsoever. She could have just played innocent, but she knew Tony well enough to know he didn't fall for those kinds of acts.

    tony sighed. "look, i was going to tell you eventually alright? oh, and before you ask, i had nothing to do with it. which is a plus! actually, i'm pretty sure steve was involved somehow, which is surprising .." he was getting sucked into his own thoughts again before he frowned. "how did you even get in there is my question?" surely pepper didn't have enough knowledge to break through all of his firewalls .. or maybe he just needed an upgrade or two.

    She allowed herself to chuckle. It surprised her, to be honest, to know that it wasn't Tony this time. It ha been Steve of all things. Then again, Natasha had been there as well. It made sense. Though her and Pepper were extremely good friends, she knew her well enough to know the assassin had some tricks up her sleeve. "Yeah, that is good to hear, I guess..." she mumbled in hesitant question. As for what he said next, she decided to go and admit it quickly. "I got through some of the firewalls, but the coding got too hard for me, so Rocket volunteered to help and he managed to get in," she said, biting her lip.

    "oh, that raccoon thing? huh. yeah, i guess I'll have to redo all the coding, mix it up and make it more difficult to get into, but that'll only take a few hours .." there he was spacing out again. but you couldn't really blame; he was operating on a few minutes of sleep and two sips of coffee. thinking about coffee, tony tilted his head back and took a big swig of the latte before looking back to pepper. "so i guess i'm sorry for not telling you sooner. we all better?"

    tony smirked before shrugging. "can't really taste it," he responded, "i think my tongue stopped working after nine hours without sleep. i drink it for the caffeine." he was joking, of course. mostly. he used a sleeve to wipe his mouth. what season was it in this au, anyway? oddi wasn't sure, but she was going to assume october because there were sweatshirts and shit. well, there wasn't literal shit, but that was just a thing people said and oddi was going to assume prink knew that.

    Suddenly a wave of concern flooded her mind. "You should really get some sleep soon, Tony. I don't like hearing that kind of stuff," she stuttered to say, knowing that he did that kind of thing but not for such a long period of time. That was a bit... unnerving, in her opinion.

    tony smirked. "nah, i'm fine. i'm getting work done; you should be proud," he joked lightly, but not long after a yawn came over his features. "well, not company work, but on one of my latest projects - company stuff can wait, right?" he finished off the small latte before tossing it in a nearby trash can. that felt .. at least a little better. he could probably sit without falling asleep instantly. probably.

    Pepper looked up to him for a moment, blinking at him as she studied his face with an unreadable calculation. She nodded slowly, though still unsure about it. "It can wait if it's important stuff," she said under her breath as she drew in some air. Things as in spending time with her, but obviously Tony wouldn't catch on that fast so Prink was just going to shut up.
    Awkward silence weaved through their conversation constantly, making the air between much more tense, which was starting to irk Pepper. That is, until it started to rain. Pepper winced the moment she felt it soak her back, though was glad she had kept her good up before it started. She picked up her pace, not wanting to stay in the rain long.

    tony winced when the first few cold raindrops ran down his neck, and held one arm over his head and the other over pepper's in an attempt to keep them a little less wet, but obviously, that was an awful idea and not doing anything. he quickly returned his arms to his sides and ran a hand through his tawny hair, the entrance to the stark tower coming up quick. he quick stepped in front of pepper, sensing she was still at least a little mad at him, and opened the door, gesturing for her to enter. "ladies first," he said with a small smile, raising his eyebrows.

    "Thanks," she mumbled, briskly walking inside and taking the next door for herself, though pushing it wider before letting go so that Tony had time to catch it before it sealed shut behind her. Allowing her gaze to drift over the lobby and noticing there was quite a number of people inside, she suddenly felt embarrassed with the attire she graced. It wasn't usual to see her in a puffy windbreaker, let alone one of Tony's, so that only made her cheeks burn harder. She quickly made her way toward the elevator, hand slipping out of the too long sweatshirt as she hit the button in a desperate attempt at escape. While for Tony it was normal to be wearing those kinds of clothes, in Pepper's case, she wasn't. And she didn't feel like ruining her hard-earned reputation at the moment, so the second the metal doors slid open she was inside, hitting the button that read the number of her choice and then repeatedly hitting the 'Close' button. She hadn't much care if Tony could make it or not; she suddenly wanted to be alone to think in the time she had riding the elevator alone, so she hoped he wouldn't make it inside by then.

    shit, charming her didn't help either. tony gave a ragged sigh and quickly caught the door, entering the stark tower without a second glance around. "oh, mister stark-" some assistant began, but tony held his hand up, cutting them off. "not now," he muttered, wiping a hand over his soaking wet face. he looked up just in time to see the elevator close in front of pepper's form, and found himself standing in front of it, waiting for it to return to that floor.

    Something made her hit the 'Open' button.
    Peeking shyly out of the crack that soon enlarged as the metallic doors slid back open, she gestured him in with a halfhearted wave. She smiled weakly, stepping to the right to make room for him. For some reason she just couldn't leave him behind. With practiced nonchalance, she leaned her covered hands on the railing that lined the middle of the small metal box and heaved a sigh. "Sorry Tony," she suddenly admitted, staring at her shoes. "I should just calm down sometimes, shouldn't I?" She glanced up at him, she arched a ginger eyebrow, teal gaze glittering teasingly. Her anger seemed to have vanished suddenly, replaced with embarrassment. "Sorry," she repeated in a small mumble.

    tony couldn't help it as a small smile spread over sigh lips, and stepped inside the elevator. "it's fine. and yes, yes you should." there was a moment's silence, where the only thing that could be heard with the drip-drop of the rain water from their clothes into the floor. tony sighed. "well, we're both pretty wet, aren't we?" he froze up, and his eyes widened slightly. "i, uh, i didn't mean it like- i- you probably didn't- shit." for the first time in a while, tony stark looked flustered.

    She rolled her eyes at his first comment, though couldn't agree more. She had to put some ice on her hotheadedness. To the next, though, Pepper's hand flew up to her mouth as she burst into a fit of giggles. "God Tony," she managed to get out, bringing her hand to the hood that still draped over her head. She slowly pushed it back, her loose ponytail swinging out. "You just can't resist, can you?" she teased, bringing her head back to the rail. She leaned back, feeling the elevator shake slightly as it began to ascend to the highest floor. "I'll probably have to take a shower..." she murmured, wringing out her left sleeve awkwardly, before realizing her own words. She glanced at him, hoping he wouldn't say what she thought he would. "Y - You're not... oh god,"

    tony bit his bottom lip. yeah, he'd had the thought, but wouldn't dream of saying it. "i-i won't, i-" a small blush was actually beginning to show on his cheeks, and he put his hand over his face to cover it. "well this elevator trip has been .. interesting," he muttered. as if on cue, the elevator dinged gently and the door opened.

Upon noticing the elevator doors slide open to their designated floor - the top one, of course - she hesitantly stepped out, as if she thought there was going to be someone waiting out there. But there was no one; this was their private floor after all. She looked over her shoulder to see if Tony had followed, before turning it back and murmuring absentmindedly to herself, "You can if you want to, though,"

    tony exited the elevator and pulled off the dripping wet sweatshirt he had on, tossing it in the laundry chute. underneath it he was wearing a simple black t-shirt. he removed his shoes as well and looked to pepper when a he spoke. "i can ... what?"

    "N - Nothing!" she reacted quickly, biting down on her lip in utter embarrassment. Fuck, she couldn't take a shower with her boss! What was she saying? "I didn't say anything," she insisted before he could cut her off, before copying Tony's movements and pulling off her own soaked sweatshirt. Beneath it was a extremely large Black Sabbath shirt, also something of Tony's. Hopefully he didn't notice that as he did her sweater. She pulled the black hair tie that held her flat ginger locks, allowing it to gently bounce off her back and settle unevenly at her shoulders. Flinging the windbreaker carelessly into the laundry chute, she quickly turned away from him and made her way over to a nearby wall and leaned against it, bending over to pull off her socks and dispose of them the same way. After doing so, she made her way over to the couch, literally throwing herself down and heaving a sigh. "Or maybe I'll nap first!" she called from where she lied, staring at the ceiling and listening to hear Tony's own movements in hopes that he wouldn't sneak up behind the sofa. She hated being surprised.
