"No," Josh said softly. "We wait for John. He's our best defense against an ambush."
(DX but..but Berk!! :()
"No," Josh said softly. "We wait for John. He's our best defense against an ambush."
( Dx !)
We can't possibly wait here the whole time, she thought with a small shake of her head, a small worried frown on her face. But she nodded and stepped back, saying no more as they all waited.

The wolves were soaked by the time John returned without a single scratch on his body. "Well?" Eric questioned, anxious to get started. The dragon twisted his head to stare across the entire area before he twisted his head back around to stare behind him.
"Two ambushes," he rumbled, his voice deep and sounding more like a dragon's than that of a young vampire's. "To avoid them, we'd have to fan out in two different directions."
"So we'll have to split up." Cyril slowly nodded his head thoughtfully. "We would be more vulnerable with the smaller numbers if anything were to happen, but it seems as though we don't have another choice from what Jonathan describes."
(Any thought at all :( lol I could just say something about a random legend of something or other XD)
"If we're to split up," rumbled Raymond, stamping a hand onto the ground for a moment. It was almost as though he was defiant. "Then each group will go with a member of my pack."
"And of the Vampire Clans I have risen to help," Eric barked back. Heads turned toward Josh to see what he would say. For a moment, Josh remained silent before he turned to look at everyone in the eyes with his own.
"Is there any other way?" He questioned, lifting his head to his son, who now towered above many of the battle field.
"I would say take out each ambush silently," rumbled the dragon, shaking out his scales. "But I don't know how we'd accomplish such a feat."
(Yeah, why not? Set the beginning with something interesting. )
"Then splitting up to avoid them is our best chance," Leah said with a slow nod. She looked to Joshua and gently touched his shoulder with reassurance. "It is not guaranteed that something will happen, Josh."
( :/ )
"And there's no guarantee that nothing will happen," Josh answered softly, turning to his wife with a touch of fear in his eyes.
"Is there no other way to avoid the ambush?" Raymond rumbled, looking up at the dragon. John shifted his wings against his scales and blinked his bright blue eyes for a few moments.
"There might be," he rumbled. "But I'm unsure if there is. I didn't see any way other than that."
"Well you've already brought up taking the two ambushes alone quietly," Cyril then spoke up as he turned to Jonathan. "This is a battle; everything we do has its own risks. So we should just choose the best one."
John gave a small nod of acknowledgement and bowed his head. "It's up to the leaders," he rumbled.
"My Watchers will lay down their lives for me," Eric stated with a deep nod. "So would my old Clan."
"And my pack would die to protect me and my family," Raymond rumbled, an ear flicking off to the side. Josh was the only one left to say anything and he seemed to be hesitating. Their numbers weren't as many as they used to be.
"I do not wish to sacrifice my fellow Hunters," Josh said softly. "And cut our numbers in half."
"Then what is it that you suggest we do, Joshua?" Cyril then asked, though his words held no harshness. He could tell the vampire was deeply concerned.
Josh shook his head for a moment, unsure of that himself. Then an idea came to him and he looked up at both his son and his Lord. "Get the dragons involved," he said softly. "If they get involved, then all of us have a better chance of keeping our current numbers."
"Would John have enough time to fly all the way to Dragon's Peak to get them?" Michael asked from where he stood beside his brother.
"He'd have to be extra quick about it," Cyril pointed out. He raised an eyebrow at the red dragon as he spoke. "There is never enough time during a battle. We can only be quick. Can you do it, Jonathan?"
"I'll do my best," rumbled the red dragon before he launched himself into the air at a rather high speed.
Cyril looked up at watched him disappear back into the clouds above, as did the rest of the group below. It seemed easier to watch her brother leave, since he wasn't heading towards the enemies. Krystal's body slightly relaxed and for a moment she felt proud of her older brother. But it didn't last long, as the fears came back, one of them being watched.
Alduin sensed a change in the half-vampire and rumbled, pushing his head up underneath her arm in a comforting way, something he'd adopted when she grew older. He seemed to be saying Master will be alright.
Krystal glanced down and couldn't help but smile. Her hand lightly rested on his head and touched him with slow strokes. "You're right," she whispered, nodding a bit. He'll be fine.
Lightning illuminated the sky for a few moments. What felt like eons became a mere hour as John came back with a couple of other dragons with him. Alduin rumbled and gave a soft roar in Krystal's direction. See? he seemed to say. I told you!
Krystal's shoulders relaxed at the sight of the familiar dragon. In fact, the air below by the group seemed to lessen with tense. She smiled and nodded towards Alduin. "You were."
Cyril watched Jonathan fly towards them with a small approving grin. Well done, John.
John landed hard against the ground, his wings folding lightly to his sides as each dragon joined them on the ground. The youngest was now as tall as Tyrin, though still bore the youthful features of a young dragon.
All eyes went up to the dragons, in both awe and respect. Cyril recognized both Tyrin and Rolkan, the dragons he had sought out back at Dragon Peaks to find a cure for Jonathan's unknown illness. He dipped his head a little underneath his hood. "Dragons."
