  • My cat Shiloh has been acting differently the past few weeks. He visits the litterbox frequently, licks 'down there' often, and on occasion yowls when urinating. And just moments ago Shiloh urinated on my floor right in front of me. I'm thinking he has a feline urinary tract infection... does it sound that way to you guys?

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; border: none; text-align: justify; color: white;]Yes it does, you should go get him checked by the vet. It may/may not be so, but rather be safe than sorry.

  • Take him to a vet. A vet is the only one who can make a safe assumption here.

Cats are really good at hiding illnesses, so when they do start to show, they can be serious.

  • Bring him to the vet immediately. I had a cat called Foo, and he died from an illness, witch he hid until a day or two before we put him down. So, I repeat, bring him to a vet.

Yes! That is what happened to my dog a couple months ago! Yes take Shiloh to the vet! Pretty sure it's a problem... :3

  • Thanks everyone. I'll try my hardest to get my mom to take him to the vet... I hate seeing him like this and I don't want him to get worse.

  • What this sounds like is Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (LUTD). I will give you a little information on it:

FELINE LOWER URINARY TRACT DISEASE (LUTD)

is not a single disease but a number of diseases with similar symptoms that affect the bladder, urethra and other parts of the lower urinary system.

    SYMPTOMS

If your cat strains to urinate, has blood in it's urine or urinates more frequently than usual, take it for prompt veterinary treatment.

    PREVENTATIVE MEASURES

LUTD has a wide variety of causes, some of which are undetermined. A factor in the development of one form of of this disease is the presence of crystals in the urinary tract. A dietary change to foods which cause the urine to be slightly acidic may help maintain urinary tract health in these cases. Early detection and treatment is vital, if crystals or mucus obstruct the urinary tract and prevent urination. Pay attention to your cats liter rabbits so you'll be alert to symptoms that may occur.

Go to a veterinarian for more information on this disease. I hope your cat gets better.

My friends cat had something that sounds like this, but she just peed everywhere and couldn't make it to her litterbox. He got it after getting neutered... They were going to put her down but gave her a second life as a barn cat <3

When I was a kid I believe I had a siamese cat with this problem of a sort, but she was older (about 17 or something around there). Eventually she started peeing all over the house, so she was taking to a foster home for cats where they can live their life freely instead of being put down. So I do suggest taking her to a vet immediately.
