Daire shrugs. "Well... Ehm.." She rubs her neck slightly. "A couple of years ago, me and my brother found this, in our grandfather's will. He had left it to me." She carefully places the coin on the desk. It's made with a strange silvery blue metal, and it has a picture of a strange, spirally shape surrounded by an unfamiliar writing. "We tried to figure it out for years.. No avail."

"It's beautiful, that's no doubt.." Viola bit her bottom lip and tilted her head, a habit of hers whenever she tried to figure out something. "...Which brings me to my next question, is your brother coming along with us?" She blinked, her red eyes moving up towards Miss Daire.
-
"God, I hope not.." Amelia makes a face, a sort of scrunched-up face. "I mean- we kind of- fell out.." She shakes her head. "Anyways, the coin." She gestures back at it. "We found nothing. And then I still found nothing. Until.." She now holds out the thick book, opening it to a random page. It is written in the same undecipherable alphabet, with a few exceptions. Scrawled notes, in English, can be read in between lines, with arrows pointing to different symbols. "This book. And whoever had the indecency to write in it."
-
(This is reminding me of Gravity Falls)
Chess looked at the coin, then at Miss Amelia, wondering what could have happened for siblings to have a falling out. "Indecency?" He raised an eyebrow, his confusion ever so obvious. He took another look at the book, trying to understand what she meant by calling the author indecent. -
((XD))
Amelia sighs. "I meant the guy who spent what must've been a good five years decoding this language. And he-or she-did not get very far at all. Barely enough, actually, to tell me the location of this island, and a message." She flips through the book to the last page, which is blank except for six cryptic words.
"'Everything has an opposite. Remember that.'" She reads aloud. -

"Oh..." Chess said quietly, blushing in embarrassment. He turned his focus back to the book, "Everything has an opposite"? He thought about that idea, thinking about what the adventure would be like if everything really did have an opposite.
-
"Battles being friendly, food being poisonous, and survival being death.. that type of opposite?" At this point Viola was just blurting her thoughts aloud. Left to right, up to down.. opposites were tricky when your brain wanted to run on autopilot.
-
"Yo... there isn't some futuristic clone stuff going on, right?" Chess was genuinely concerned, he'd battled enough of those in games to know it would screw him over, big time. Though a part of him knew, KNEW, this could not be a possibility, "Haha, I'm kidding... Totally... not serious.
-
"No one's cloned me, as far as I know, and I'm highly sure no one's cloned you guys." She blinks. "You haven't been cloned recently, right?" She asks.
Daire closes the book, placing it next to the coin and the map.
-
Chess looked at his arms, God, I hope not... He thought before speaking, "Do you know what they meant?" He started to think about what it could mean, it was definitely some sort of clue, but what for? Was it about the island?
-
Daire smiles, the sort of smile that one hopes is good enough to convince people that all is well. "Not a whit!" She shakes her head. "But that's why we're going here. Oh, and the reason I need you..." She leans over the map again. "We have no idea what we're going to find. Heck, it could be my uncle's old gang, searching for the exact same thing. I need backup." She sits back down. She knows for a fact that she's not very good at pitching ideas, as several of her other expeditions have fallen apart simply because she can't explain things very clear. But these two look desperate, or at least highly bored. "Are you in?"
-
"I'm definitely in, Vi?" He looked her in the eye, watching and listening for her response. Chess wondered if her father might come looking for her in South America. "You comin'?" He tilted his head slightly as he completed his questions, a couple strands of hair sliding over his right eye.
-
Viola narrowed her eyes, her heart thumping rapidly. There it was, the feeling of adrenaline that she enjoyed so much-- the feeling that might get her killed. She turned towards Chess and smirked, her red eyes returning a look of reassurance. "I'm in."
-
Chess turned back to Miss Daire, grinning wildly. "I guess that settles it." He said, his voice suddenly much deeper. "When do we start." He asked, eager to get the adventure started.
-
Daire grins. "Awesome." Inside, she's making the mental calculations. Or really, trying to remember when she bought the plane tickets for. "Tonight. At nine." She nods. "Glad to have you two on board."
-
"We're glad to be on board." Viola smiled warmly, her eyes full of excitement. Tonight at nine was perfect-- she wasn't planning to go home anytime soon anyways, after everything she'd done with leaving home and taking some of her dad's beer money. He.. didn't really need that money, anyways.
-
Chess smirked, "Great, I haven't been on a plane in a while so this ought to be fun." He spoke energetically, it was going to be a long wait but he felt that it was worth the wait. He looked around the room, wondering just how to pass the time.
-
Viola pulled her phone out of her pocket and took a look at it. There were endless texts of, "Where are you? Where did you go? Did you take anything? I saw your note.. you'd better be joking!" She eventually got tired of reading it and shut it off, stuffing it back into her pocket stubbornly.
-
"Your dad?" Chess guessed by her reaction, glancing at her phone before she put it in her pocket. "Aren't you worried that he's going to come here?" He asked, fixing the sleeve of his shirt.
-
"See you then.?" Daire stands up, planning on conking out in her bed for a couple of hours before they leave.
